  1. Ah, that was my misunderstanding coming into this thread. Yeah, this seems like an easy fix. The noble-bright state in the Aurora universe shouldn't have the religious and ethnic stability of mid-war Syria.
  2. Encryption key has always been a Traitor item available even to actual, normal traitors, where they can use the same Syndicate channel that Mercenaries use. Removing this from Mercenary headsets is bad, they are able to keep up-to-date on station affairs and responses and react appropriately. Making them have to buy encryption keys keeps them from using gear crates of any kind or sort. If this were to happen, you'd be gimping mercenaries/heisters in the worst of ways.
  3. Could just say that all populations are tolerated and remove the portion about religious tension because that's super ridiculous. There's no reason to delete Elyra, a lot of people play Elyran characters.
  4. I think they have logmonkeys check to make sure everything in the IR lines up correctly before they go at an actual investigation, judging on experience with a recent IR after this reform.
  5. Gotta' wholeheartedly disagree with you, Kaed. And for reasons expressed above. Security is not a role where you play in order to display cultural uniqueness that gets in the way of your actual Security equipment. Your character is doing a job, you have a responsibility to treat the server in-game like a workplace. I've had some fun with regulation gotcha' for people that don't wear uniforms, and even with the ban, it still happens. What about when we don't have a Head of Security or any Heads of Staff? There is absolutely no reason to revert the current standard. It works fine.
  6. An abandoned ERT trooper on the ERT base! Sol Elites on the in-tact Sol base! A communist soldier of some kind on the PRA base, or IPC combat units on the machine derelict! I pushed for this, this sets the tone for interesting interaction. I'm, however, unaware how these survivors would fit in with station and derelict defenses. Are they survivors, or are they repelling invaders? I suppose it could depend map-to-map, and it'd require code to make them avoid being targeted by turrets.
  7. You know, I don't actually know what Warops is. Still. Democracy prevails, if people vote for it, it's because they want a wild time. I know the Paranoia round you're talking about, and I got absolutely murdered during it. I also didn't vote for it. Still, I had some fun. It was fun.
  8. Yeah but like, it's not in Secret rotation. If the majority of people vote for Paranoia, it's because they want antags and a fight.
  9. Hey, I was a Skrell pod survivor that round, Glim Zixi. Came in about an hour in to malf in-progress (was also the only Skrell that round, fun), injured and got rescued by Security and Medical (Sean Richter and Optikam Razki[?]). I was probably one of the first to ahelp because the AI was using machine overload on everything it could access, including the Command bunker, its own wires, depressurizing the entire station and so on. I was actually with Sean Richter and Sonic's RD in the Command Bunker when he blew it up, and survived. And then I fell under the station the same was as the RD, and managed to throw an oxygen mask to get to the very bottom engineering access of the station. I found the RD's body there, actually. Searched it, got his ID and radio, and started to drag him into the station, telling the AI on the radio that it "needed to stop". You know, using some Skrellian reasoning. It gave back some nihilistic response. Oh, and then it gibbed me with a machine overload before I could even get into the station using the airlock after a very long time spent relatively harmless floating in space. Very sad. Brage, you even apologized in OOC mid-way into the round because you knew you were up to no good and people wouldn't enjoy it. It was not fun for the latter half of the round, I would've cryo'd given the choice and I know some people @CommanderXor (Sean Richter's player) ghosted off of their very alive characters rather than continue playing.
  10. Reporting Personnel: Oscar Easter. Job Title of Reporting Personnel: Necropolis Industries Private Security Officer. Game ID: b3k-aM2P. Personnel Involved: James Lacassiere, Security Officer (NT) - Offender Omari Etienam, Security Officer (EPMC) - Witness/Victim Ezelda Coetzee, Security Officer (EPMC) - Witness/Victim Vira Bolivar, Head of Security (NT) - Witness/Victim Time of Incident: 05:25 BST 9-19-2461 Real Time: 0300MST 9/19/19 Location of Incident: NSS Aurora Internal Security Department & Civilian Primary Wing. Nature of Incident: [X] - Workplace Hazard [X] - Accident/Injury [X] - Destruction of Property [X] - Neglect of Duty [X] - Harassment [X] - Assault [X] - Misconduct [X] - Other - Attempted Murder, Assault x2, Resisting Arrest x2, Illegal Detention x2, Neglect of Duty, Failure to Execute an Order, Hooliganism, Slander of a Head of Staff, Slander, Vandalism. Overview of the Incident: Some time into the shift on September 19th, 2461, James Lacassiere declared on the Security radio that the Eridani Federation flags found in Security (placed by Eridani or Eridani-affiliated contractors, numbering three) were insulting to members of the crew. He proceeded to tear them down and immediately attempt to flee Security. When approached to be detained, he drew a taser and fired upon the detaining officers (Omari Etienam and Oscar Easter), but was taken down with shock batons. Charged with Resisting Arrest and Vandalism. Following this, threats of physical harm were made to Oscar Easter and Etienam, and Contractor Coetzee. Mister Lacassiere had been fined but released to continue his duties as a NanoTrasen Security Officer. It was while he was giving these threats that a Cadet, Abraham Bullocks, struck Officer James Lacassiere with his maglight. He was immediately detained and charged with Minor Assault. However, during the charging process, James Lacassiere interfered. He pushed me aside and immediately maxed out the detainee's charges while I was writing the incident summary, hit 'guilty', walked off the the encoded report and attempted to put the cadet in the Brig. This was, of course, outrageous and illegal detention, since it was a Yellow-level violation. Maximum charges are never applied first. Officer Lancassiere proceeded to flee Security when notified of this, however, it is possible he was not immediately aware that we intended to detain him for his violations. He was later notified in-person in front of the Holodeck, and an attempt at detention was made by myself. I deployed a taser in an attempt to incapacitate James Lacassiere, given he attempted to flee. Officer Lacassiere proceeded to draw a standard-issue .45 pistol and shoot me seven times in the head at close range, and then battered me with a shock baton when I was on the ground. Contractor Omari Etienam arrived on-scene and engaged in a brief shoot-out with James Lancassiere, which ended when Contractor Ezelda Coetzee arrived as reinforcement. James Lancassiere was charged with Excessive Force, Illegal Detention, Resisting Arrest and Assault. Individual also attempted to spout claims of sexual romance between all other officers involved in the situation, centering around Officer Coetzee. Officers Etienam and Coetzee were both battered, injured and bruised from gunshot-related injuries and stun baton-related blows. ------- Prior to this shift, immediately prior to it, James Lacassiere was involved in illegally charging an individual, Preston Prestoff. He attempted to enforce Neglect of Duty, Suspicious Conduct, Hooliganism and Battery charges against this individual (Employed as Quartermaster at the time), against the orders of Head of Security Vira Bolivar and Head of Personnel Thea Reeves. Individual proceeded to curse out the Head of Security when issued direct orders against the detention, after having already insisted on filing the charges (completing the processing matter and locking the violations to Preston Prestoff's records, to the ever-present disagreement of the Head of Personnel), and left Security, claiming that the Head of Security was engaged in sexual intercourse and favoritism with Preston Prestoff, and that she had 'pardoned' him. Individual was promptly seized for these transgressions, under a warrant of Illegal Detention and Slander of a Head of Staff, and detained, and suspended. Did you report it to a Head of Department or IAA? If so, who?: No Heads of Staff were available regarding issue one, Internal Security had to act internally. Thea Reeves & Vira Bolivar for issue two. Actions taken: Internal Security processing carried out. Charges brought up against offender, but without the backing or bureaucracy of Central Command. Additional Notes: Individual was charged. However, he shall work again should no action be immediately taken. Frankly, he should not be outside of a prison.
  11. I'm always interested in keeping the character more in-line with Dominian Ma'zals. It's my first Dominian character, so I'm not really sure what I should be aiming for. Feedback based on the conduct of Easter in relation to what is expected of the average Dominian would be great.
  12. Even third-world warlords and their militias try to stay uniform, Paradox. NanoTrasen internal security is a paramilitary unit, much as people will argue that it isn't (heavy body armor, heavy weapons some of which are specialized, an expectation to combat pirates and apparently capable of dealing with Hunter-Killer war droids and terrorists, like SWAT), it is. It should remain visually distinct. This directive is here for a reason. That reason is for the officers that wear dresses, grey suit-jackets and fedoras, jean-shorts, no shirt and cowboy hat and that ridiculous shit. Refer to above, it does not stop reasonable loadout items. If you want to have crazy as fuck loadout equipment, why are you playing Security? It is unfairly applied because Research is not as uniformly required to be identifiable, other than labcoats. They're Scientists, not armed security. Medical tends to wear their uniforms (and hit each other when they don't), Command varies. The Head of Security should wear his uniform, the Captain could choose to wear his uniform, the Head of Personnel could personalize, the Research Director could personalize (within reason), the Chief Medical Officer could personalize (within reason), Engineering should wear its uniforms because they engage in potentially hazardous activities and the uniforms help identify them (see the same reason Security should wear their uniforms). This is because of the intensity of requirement for immediate visual identification for these professions. Does it seem unfair? No, that's the visual responsibility of Security and friends.
  13. Security is Security. They should wear the uniform. No one's ever gotten on me for wearing a tie and an armband or a tailcoat. This is unnecessary and inappropriate.
  14. J-ERT is literally a meme. This is J-ERT but not a meme. We need to step away from memes. I want this more than I have ever wanted J-ERT.
  15. Use the AI Core Intercomm instead of ; radio command?
  16. Just give us the option to not have an appendix in character creation. Jackboot and Doxxmedearly proposed this, it's the easiest solution.
  17. Just give the QM the ability to administrate Cargo. He's not upper management, he's middle-management. The Warden but his authority is actually written down, and the HoP handles him and the Civilian 'department'.
  18. My mother has a Doctorate in Criminal Law and a Bachelor's degree in Nursing, with an Associate's in Psychiatric study. She was both a Nursing Director and Associate for a law firm. She worked as a restaurant barista to fill in her time and have spending money while in Wisconsin working on her doctorate credits. This is pretty realistic, to be honest.
  19. Sci-fi Detroit: Become Human asianic Kara with a coat? In all seriousness, this is very quaint. I don't see why this should be denied, it's just sort of, what, cute? Plus Amory's making the sprite, meaning Albe won't have to. +1.
  20. I play a Necropolis character too. Oscar Easter. I would stop playing if it was removed because I would think it was unfair and biased.
  21. Nah, Kaed. If the HoS shouldn't have a helmet, neither should the Captain or HoP. All Officers and the Warden have helmets, so should the Head of Security.
  22. Armory has .45 lethals, two laser rifles, two energy carbines and an ion rifle. The shotguns don't really fit their own niche, if they're used it's because people want to "mix it up" a little. What is their supposed niche?
  23. My money is on it coming back in somewhere around four to five hours.
  24. I want to see change. This is the change I want. Give us this, it's radical, but it's good. This is the change we need to keep Security balanced but divided in intention.
  25. He's a Security Officer, my Necropolis one. Been described by most people as a shell that was born, due to how robotic of an individual he is. A Dominian emigre from the slave period trying to adapt to Solarian and Biesellite life. Doubtful he'll have a romance arc, but you never know.
