  1. I disagree on robots not having personality if they are what they're supposed to be - robotic workers. The contrast between humanity and robots are what defines their personality. On paper? Yes, not having some random robot quirk that I can make up in two seconds flat would count as "not having personality". In practice? Absolutely not. All of these questions are valid though. I expected them to come up naturally, and I'll answer them now. Though the answers were hinted at in the backstory, I suppose they aren't clear enough. 1. At the end of the day, Walter is still a crate pusher. It recognizes that it is there to push crates. Is it a shitty existence? Yes, it'll agree on that. However, I consider this to be a good baseline from which an IPC's position on freedom or life can evolve. That's what matters to me. 2. Walter recognizes that humanity has no empathy for it. It does not like that. Who would? It doesn't quite know about how other species are treated either. It doesn't really feel a need to go towards activism though. Since, for it right now, its job is still pushing crates. That's what it is convinced it has to do. To it, pushing crates is what makes it worth something. Other people might "open his eyes" on it. That's fine. This is why this character is a blank slate of sorts.
  2. The best way I can describe how I want to play is Andrew in the beginning of Bicentennial Man. Yes, I intend to play a machine. I don't want Walter to grow to feel emotions or whatever, but I do want Walter to evolve in some fashion. I am steadfast in this being what I want to play.
  3. There are exactly two weapons that antags spawn with or can get that do significantly more damage: the esword and revolver.
  4. Alright. Unbanned.
  5. As I see it, there are a few issues: 1) Killing someone with armour is way too hard due to how armour works. I have a solution for this: armour should be based on percentage and be always reliable in reducing damage by a % calculated from the armor values. Instead what we have right now is a system where you can roll a fullblock and take no damage from a 5.56 shot in the dick if you have an armored trenchcoat. 2) Killing hostages or civilians takes too much time. As nantei said, you'll need six .38 bullets to actually kill someone you're holding in a neck grab if you shoot them in the brain case. Maybe four with pointblank bonuses. Still, that's way too much time and sec can just ooga booga rush you. This goes for 7.62, 5.62, and other calibers that aren't very heavy. 3) Burst shooting sucks absolute dick since it grounds you. Because of this, we get fights where there are only singular shots being thrown around. This diminishes lethality because people shoot you less. ARs are basically only single shot weapons right now. 4) Not enough lethality on the medical side. Someone without a helmet got shot in the head with 7.62? Bicaridine and outta the meat grinder you go. Not sure I need to highlight how this is an issue.
  6. I have no idea what's happening with the spoiler. The last few questions are supposed to be outside of it but for some reason they're inside of it, even with the closing tag behind them. I'm just gonna leave it like this since I tried fixing it and it didn't work.
  7. BYOND Key: - MattAtlas Character Names: - Kortnev Ndraanovich, Emily Cress, Luo Jingyi, Kyong Su-Yeongseon Species you are applying to play: - IPC, G1 Industrial What color do you plan on making your first alien character: - N/A Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: - Yeah. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: - IPCs are probably one of the species with the most variants in personalities. That alone, and how different they are in behaviour from any other species is what motivates me to apply. I understand that they're logical machines that don't act based on emotions, and that provided a frankly infinite amount of RP material. I hate to see it misused by shells who act like human 2.0, because it's the exact opposite of what I think IPCs should be. This is why I'm applying to play as a first gen industrial. I've also always been fascinated with these kinds of robots - one of my favourites of all time has to be Ash, from Alien. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: - I mostly described this above. The amount of variance in personality, the huge difference in the way machines and humans think. While humans think in a very emotional manner, IPCs don't really think like that. They're machines and logic is how they function. Sure, IPCs can simulate emotions, but that's not the same thing as having them. This is where the contrast is shown, really, and the character concept I have is supposed to work entirely off of it. Character Name: - Walter Please provide a short backstory for this character - Originally built as one of the first batches of the first-generation Industrial IPCs on Amòni in 2438, where it was little more than a machine with a serial number and a purpose, this IPC was assigned to the same superfactory as a requisitions worker. Its job was pulling boxes and heavy frames around, something that at that point, was recognized as its reason to exist. This continued for many years up until the release of the second generation Industrial models. Slowly, the robotic workforce around the supercomplex was replaced or upgraded. To it, this meant little more than the fact that it'd be upgraded later on to do its job better. But fate did not want it to happen. Or rather, an unfortunate event happened. The requisitions bays had elevators that led into the storage deep inside the factory. In its first few minutes of post-recharge reactivation, the IPC followed its usual route to call the elevator up, but slipped on a patch of uncleaned oil left by the maintenance crews and fell down the elevator. Another technician called the elevator up to find a disheveled and deactivated IPC laying down on the elevator, immobile and intertwined into itself. Unfortunately, with the repair costs, it was easier to get rid of this machine and replace it with a new batch of second generations. The IPC was dumped alongside a few other broken miscellaneous IPCs in the Metal Dunes. While at this point some measures had been taken to get rid of the endless scrapping, it certainly is hard to notice six or seven more IPCs laying upon a pile of many more, especially if a few credits are involved. In 2460, this machine was finally reactivated. But it was not in the factory.
  8. Sure man. I understand these things happen. I'm gonna need you to change your character's name to something else, and delete or change the records. Reply to me saying you understand and I'll unban you.
  9. This time with real experience. Ckey/BYOND Username: MattAtlas Discord Name: mattatlas#6970 Position Being Applied For: Coder Past Experiences/Knowledge: I was a coder on CM for 3 months and some days, before retiring. I mainly took on major balancing issues (removing mutators, a complete xenomorph rebalance, marine weapon rebalance, many marine kits to name a few) with my most major addition being a modular strains system for each caste. I'd like to say I completely reshaped the game balance and direction during my stay. Additional Comments:
  10. That is what I tried.
  11. I tried but alas it didn't do much. I'm going to remove the sounds today.
  12. Good man who does roleplay the big good. I've had lots of good interactions with his characters and not a single bad one. I'm sure he's good for the whitelist. +1
  13. Looks real good man. Fuck biker helmet hardsuit I hate it +1
  14. It was before the PRA was driven out, yeah. The 'few years' was hinting towards that, but I fucked up by not including the actual date he left. Which would be about 2458, so after the attack on the Parliament.
  15. Thank you for the response. 1) I didn't know that, actually, and it's a good point. I've changed the religion to S'rendarr and Messa. 2) The motivations for leaving are mainly that their bloodline will be destroyed if they remain on Adhomai, so at least someone should leave and escape. He already knows his parents don't approve of it, but he sees it as necessary. As the conflict is going on, it doesn't seem like the NKA is getting anywhere.
  16. I've been playing with Schwann ever since we met in Bay like, almost 6 months ago at this point, and they've always been a consistent roleplayer. I can't attest to your ability to play foreign species, but I can say that you're really good at playing humans and making them stand out - the little things in personalities are really evident in your characters. That said, I'm not giving you a free pass here. Does Nikandr follow any kind of religion and why? Would it affect his views on mysticism? What about his parents? Did they contribute to his views on it? Did he have any close friends to investigate with?
  17. We have found no evidence of wrongdoing in the -cttM round ID. It is a standard vampire round gone wrong - yes, the gimmick may have been disagreeable, but there is nothing against the rules. Naelynn was not in the other round ID provided. This complaint will be closed in 24 hours unless further evidence is presented.
  18. BYOND Key: - MattAtlas Character Names: - I was known for playing Erana'Weshi Xoqia and Araa Plenek. Nowadays I play Emily Cress and Luo Jingyi the most. Species you are applying to play: - Tajara. What color do you plan on making your first alien character: - 138, 54, 15 (Ruddy) Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: - Yeah. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: - It's very easy to assume why; Tajara have a lot of interesting inter-species conflict and I think they're the one that does it the best. It comes out a lot on-station and there are a ton of different character concepts you can play as one due to the sheer amount of lore. Sure, it's a lot to get through, but it's worth it. I've played lots of humans now and I think it's time I go for something fresh. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: - Obviously, the political tensions between different Tajara are the number one difference. This greatly affects how they view eachother on the station. Rarely does humanity have this, if at all. The amount of lore is pretty humongous, making lots of characters possible, and it's all a very different outlook from what humanity has. There's a lot of areas that humanity hasn't explored; mysticism, to name one of the biggest. Something else that also stands out is that you're not playing someone that's on the same status as humans. Character Name: - Kortnev Ndraanovich Please provide a short backstory for this character. Kortnev Ndraanovich, a Njarir'Akhran Tajara born in 2424, three years after the event that sparked the start of the uprisings. By this time, his parents had already narrowly fleed from their original keep shortly before its slaughter into the northern part of Harr'masir, where life was decidedly not easy. Their life was relegated to an isolated and small settlement in the icy mountains. Food and water were equally scarce, not fitting Tajara of noble lineage. Over the years, Kortnev's father had taught him skills necessary to his survival while his mother taught him the more academic parts in her spare time, including their belief in S'rendarr and Messa, as his mother believed in the original Njarir religion and she was the one to pass down her knowledge to Kortnev. As time went on, the situation seemed more and more hopeless, with little keeping the family alive. It turned out that most of these skills had to be learnt on the spot by his parents; they were not things the nobles were accustomed to doing themselves. They cursed the greedy peasantry for initiating this unnecessary bloodshed, and Kortnev picked up on it. A few months after the rebellions end, Kortnev's father gave them the all clear to return to the area around Kaltir. The family was sickly at this point, but they had hung in there. A slow and painful descent from the upper mountains later, they had finally arrived at Kaltir. But it was not without cost; their lives were changed for the worse. With no territories or land left, without a name anymore and with a deep-seated grudge, they settle in their new home. From this point on, their destinies split. Kortnev's father was relegated to military service and his mother tended to their new, small room and belongings. Moved by the lack of local medical personnel and the desire for a more 'noble' occupation, Kortnev sought out education to receive a medical doctorate and become a surgeon. The local IAC camp was always full, with lacking surgeons due to excessive needs during the PRA assault. During one particular day, Hadii's assassination happened. Yet another grim reminder that the republicans caused all of this. More slaughters would continue, he thought; this was a war made by the greedy peasantry, who plunged Adhomai into endless slaughter. While he wished to see the New Kingdom regain its rightful reign, it was most likely a pipe dream. A wish to leave this planet was born, but it was still not considerate enough. Soon after their doctorate was acquired, Kortnev proceeded to work for the IAC camp near Kaltir. As the days went on, more and more soldiers were slaughtered by the same republicans. The war against the PRA seemed endless, with countless victims reaching the camp where he had been working. At this point, Kortnev decided to leave the planet behind, since there was little hope left. As much as he wished for the NKA to rule again, it looked less and less possible as time went on. In secrecy, he approached the IAC personnel near their camp and asked to leave and assist elsewhere in space. He had told nobody, not even their friends, in a show of cowardice. A few troubled years and reassignments to several refugee camps later - from the Frontier to Tau Ceti - and he has now been hired by Nanotrasen as a surgeon, a more stable job considering the need for money. In 2461, he has been promoted to a chief medical officer, and reassigned. What do you like about this character? I'd say it's the unique outlook on the war, it's a view I don't really see represented often. It'll clash with many characters since it's a pretty controversial way to view the current conflict in Adhomai, where the PRA is in the wrong for the slaughters they've done. In addition, working with a character who has things to hide, and things that make them weak is always good. I'll enjoy these two aspects the most, but there's lots of other stuff too; Ma'take seems really fun as well. How would you rate your role-playing ability? - I'd say a solid 7.5/10. In introspection I'm good at immersing myself into a character, but I often struggle to come up with ways to make a character stand out from the rest. Notes: bruh momento numero dos

  20. The IC vs. raider team thing really does not paint you in a positive light. What are your thoughts on it?
  21. I have some reservations about this. Do you imagine this being counterintuitive to you being a staff member, and if not - why not?
  22. Not sure about this one. The only remarkable thing I've seen about you is you rushing an antag with shocker gloves as an RD and taking them down near instantly. I don't think that's the kind of behaviour people should see RDs exhibiting.
  23. How to do this, you ask? Don't go quote by quote. It's a pain in the ass to read and makes shit way too long. Just make a summary of your thoughts regarding the whole post instead.
  24. The cartel, aboshehab cannot stop. Calling the kremlin I am. Mistake you have made. Sell your organs for ketamine I will. Yodie, you will.
