  1. Won't lie to you chief, AS someone with a Psych degree, this isn't half bad at all! I suggest players read into Personality Theory, and you can find the full text (all 12 chapters, but it's a good read) online.
  2. There's layers to this ish player. Tiramisu.

  3. I'd like to insert myself on one small detail here: The Unathi Dominians As a, self proclaimed Domi main, I went through the struggle of witnessing us rewrite our lore 100 thousand freaking times before it got to something decent. I do not, can not, and will not hold the state of Unathi Dominians on Marlon. The entire lore was a mess. We had to rewrite our timeline like three times, and it wasn't a cause of Unathi. It was just badly thought out in the beginning. Could they have denied having Unathi there? Yes, but to be honest.... a LOT of us (Even those of us writing lore FOR Domi) were confused as heck about our own lore. So I do ask that it be held with a grain of salt when considering their application. It's not exactly their fault.
  4. It's a strange fix targeting those that main one or two characters. AI at the moment has like, four people playing. The odd's of two of us fighting over it during high pop are pretty high, so I guess it'd help there. At the same time, it feels moot for 90% of the other jobs. TL;DR, this won't effect half the server, but those it do affect need to understand there are others that ALSO main that role they're monopolizing
  5. We could just respite the fax machines to be something a lot more... future friendly, but still have the same function? I don't want a radio communication to Central, as it implies there's a reason for them to have someone CONSTANTLY sitting there, monitoring a facility they should already trust. Plus, the "fax" is private, and can't be heard by the Janitor, or that merc with a Jayce hammer. Also, we have canon instances of knowing our communications isn't exactly the most reliable and secure thing out there, so sensitive stuff should be sent via "fax" (Or whatever the heck we call it)
  6. Gotta agree with this to an extent. As an AI main, if you nerf me any further, you might as well not have an AI at all. I made an entire argument some time ago about how AI can be nerfed further without taking game play away from us. The door bolts and removed shocking came from it, and it helped tremendously. I played a round yesterday where Engineering was (more or less) playing hide and seek. I couldn't find Larisa Hunter at ALL. So there's a lot of effective ways to hide from an AI, and I don't think a bigger gut punch to the AI on NBT's ship is going to do anyone any favors. We're still people behind the AI, and we still want to enjoy the round as much as other characters on the station.
  7. BYOND Key: Ben Aflek Is an Ok Actor Discord Username: Roachette#2756 Character Name: Borealis Item Name: AI Status: Borealis Item Function(s): It's a custom hologram for Borealis Item Description: This is an AI status that resembles a black screen with green and blue lines. Why is your character bringing this item to work?: It is her status. All of our AI status's... are horrible. How did your character obtain this item?: She created it. What value does this item have to your character, and what story does it tell?: It's her. (I'm dying laughing with this process). Sprites: Additional Comments:
  8. I recently got back into the community, and one of the first people I've picked up on as a good RP'er is Phoenix. They're fantastic, and I know any AI RP that comes from them will be as well. We talk an extensive amount in DM about AI roles, roleplay, and how laws work. Their grasp on it is on par for what we expect from AI's on Aurora. +1
  9. Oh, I forgot to elaborate on the difference between humans and Skrell I'm going to really skip a lot of physical stuff because well, that's the more obvious things. Skrell tend to be a lot more bonded than humans on server. I really doubt this is some sort of metaclique, and more of a need for the characters to be close because A)They're so far from home, and B)They do share the ability to connect with one another on a "mind" level. (Their Psionics). I stated humans react faster, and I still think it's true. Skrell live for a lot longer than humans, so things that are "far away in the future" to humans are just a waiting game for Skrell. Their humor tends to be "dry" to those that aren't of their race. Really, it's just Skrell get enjoyment out of the entire process of a joke, and not just the punchline. If anything, punchlines almost don't exist, because well... the whole things a joke to them. I will say, it seems their "jokes" are really just visual dad puns. Imagine your dad could say "Hi Jake, I'm Dad" but visually. On the topic of emotions (such as humor) Skrell tend to be expressive in ways that aren't common to humanity. They'll have their headtails in a certain position, croak or warble when upset, sad, or excited. Some times they just fidget. Humans do all this too, but on a much smaller scale. If a Skrell is sad, they might just chirp quietly while looking at the floor. A human would cry, or be rather verbal about their sadness.
  10. Kai and their family supported Weashbi Jrugl's second term! Their opinion on the refugee's isn't all that great. They're firm believers in their election system, so the refugee's are being seen as (more or less) toddlers throwing a tantrum that they didn't get their way. They think it's a gross over exaggeration and Tau Ceti should have sent them back, as there wasn't a need for asylum in the first place. If you want change, you have to work for it. You can't just give up and run away from a problem. (That's the IC reasoning. Please don't think that's my opinion OOCly of refugees) Kai's favorite dish requires the perfect balance of a hot layer of roasted and puree'd Dyn, and an almost frozen layer of Nycii. It's meant to be a dessert, but their reviewers are still mixed on whether it's good for dessert, or just a general snack. It tends to be heavy on the stomach. Their family follow Weishii, and Kai doesn't deviate much from what their family ideals are, as they seem to be working well enough to keep them in good standing. The coming of age ceremony went fine, with the final words of wisdom to be that Kai needs to remember to ground themselves more than what they do, as their bubbly nature can lead to a bit of airheadedness at times. The Master made sure they understood it wasn't a hint to change, but rather a suggestion on how to tune Kai's personality into a tool that will help Kai with their ambitions. Kai's never left Qerrbalak, so this will be their first time off planet. It's why I stated they'll be more prone to homesickness. The newness will wear off quickly, and Kai will start to feel like a tadpole in the ocean.
  11. You know, in the past I've had a lot of issues with your lore (Especially the old Solarian stuff), HOWEVER.... I won't say you aren't passionate and a decent writer. I think your best stuff CAME from the Unathi race, and I'd like to see you writing for it again. I don't want you burnt out again. I fully believe that's what happened with the bad Solarian lore back in the day. It just didn't line up with the expectations I've grown to have from you. (I probably shouldn't expect so much from you, but I really like your writing and I can't help that I want to see your best) I +1 this app, with a motherly "Remember to put yourself first" disclaimer.
  12. BYOND Key: Ben Aflek is an OK Actor Character Names: (OH MY GOD, ALL OF THEM?!) Borealis Calanthis Demos FAMINE Asclepius Silas Saint Yves Pixel Cordia Caladius Zune Carmichael Tatyanna Mens Poppy Wolfe Carolina Depthcharge Species you are applying to play: Skrell What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Sunshine Yellow Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes I have Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: I’ve met a lot of Skrell characters while playing, and the species just seems kinda cool to me. I like how different they are than most of the other species and factions. I toyed with the idea of what my next whitelist would be, and I decided Skrell seemed to be the next “best” thing for my sort of play style and RP style. I emote heavily, and Skrell express emotions through a lot of…. Well… motion. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Almost everything. From the mechanics of the character, to how they hold themselves in society. Humans can be from anywhere, and believe anything. Skrell tend to be a lot more reigned in, and deeper in thought. Humans are quick to reaction, while Skrell look at the bigger picture of things. Also, No Slip Skrell Tail. Kaiqi Xilqi Character Name: Kaiqi Xilqi Please provide a short backstory for this character Kaiqi is a Xiiori born in the Crieq'Bruq region of Qerrbalak fifty three years ago. This puts them right in the Radiant Era, and Kai is a product of their time. Their family is tightly bonded, and is eager to see that their offspring do well in life. A strong line of Federation-loyal Psionics, their family was a little disappointed to learn Kaiqi wasn’t as strong as them. This doesn’t negate the fact that Kaiqi is a receiver, it simply means they aren’t up to the same level as the rest of their family. Kaiqi learned they have a talent in the art of cuisine and took to Viv-ID as a VR Chef while going to school to perfect their art. Kaiqi expresses themselves through this method as well, opting to push the limits on what they can do with their food. Kaiqi can be described by their friends as bubbly and happy, and to outsiders they can seem eager to please. However, it’d be ignorant to assume Kaiqi is willing to adapt or adopt to different cultures. They are stubbornly loyal to who and what they are. In their free time, Kaiqi spends it posting new videos to their slow growing Cooking Viv channel. They tend to oversleep when stressed, and the pressure to do better and be better puts them in a vicious cycle. They “relax” out of this cycle by painting abstract art. Currently, Kaiqi is in a “Pink” period of their art. Kaiqi is prone to homesickness more than most, as their young age means home was all they knew. Eagerness to explore faith and who they are doesn’t overshadow the fact that they feel smaller and vulnerable outside of the Federation. When this homesickness happens, they put on their favorite show, or sing. Family: Kaiqi is attached to her family, and their code of ethics is carried with them, even this far away from home. Kai may find themselves reaching out to be in the presence of other Skrell, just to ease the pain of being away from her bonded. Distrust of Synthetics originates from her family unit. Religion: Kaiqi finds meditation to be better suited for their way of life, and tends to hop on the newer faith of Weishii. Credit Score: 6. Kaiqi’s family is faithfully loyal to the Federation, and this gives them a slight bump above what they would usually average out to. Physically: Kaiqi is short and thin, with a bright yellow coloring. Kaiqi tends to sing to themselves when alone in the kitchen. Kaiqi tends to take on the “female” gender stereotype as they find their personality and stature fits it better. What do you like about this character? I play a lot of serious, no nonsense characters and Kai isn’t that way at all. They’re meant to be bubbly, friendly, and characteristically… young. Kai’s not there to judge you, or tell you how to live. They understand their culture isn’t your culture. While they will be faithful to their lives, Kai is accepting of others. To point it simply, Kai is a well-rounded young adult with a heart of gold. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I’m not the worst out there. Every time I do a whitelist, I say the same thing. I own whitelists, and I’m not banned. So maybe a six? Notes: I fell in love with Kai, so I hope this is accepted. I’m willing to modify things just to make her become a reality.
  13. We'll miss you so much, but I understand leaving. You've kinda been a staple in my SS13 life for as long as I can remember. It's been a pleasure, and I hope life gives you everything you need and want.
  14. The sinks in the Surgery OR's are named Autopsy sink. They, clearly, are not. LOL
  15. Color psychology time! Color psychology can't be avoided! Dark blue tends to make us focus harder and develop a more serious mentality. If you double down on it too much (as in the case of the Vaurca night vision) it can actually lead to the creativity aspect of our minds going a little... dull. It can also cause hints of depression if it's over-whelming. So... you've got a color that is shutting down your creativity, and promoting a serious, no nonsense mentality. It's effectively cutting off your nose to spite your face. While concentration is useful, we are playing a game that requires full use of our "left brain". (Which, is highly debatable if that's a prop... you know what, just use the metaphor without explanation.) May I suggest gold or light yellow? And tone up it's transparency. You want a light wash of the color. Remember, too bright of a color will result in an overwhelming effect.

  17. This is a really touchy one. I like Schev's roleplaying, like, I enjoy them most of the time. The only problem I have is sometimes you witness the character break and Schev come out instead of the ballin' beast character they've created. I also know they (just like me) can be a little abrasive OOCly. I don't think it's enough to not grant them a whitelist, but I would like a confirmation that this trait is being worked on. Facts: Schev's a good command player, and they're a good one to rely on motivating a round. Schev can, occasionally have an attitude problem. I won't fault them for being human, and I'm all for giving someone the benefit of the doubt. So it's a hesitant +1 from me.
  18. My favorite IC drama has to be the time I was taken hostage, shot in the face by a CADET, and then left for dead in the Medical operating wing.... or the time I yeeted a nuke into a hole as Captain... or the time a Research Director went on an expedition ALONE, WITHOUT TELLING ANYONE, and died..... Or the time.. you know what? Any shift I play Captain.

I once played a dominian rogue shell, got a box of spare Aut'akh limbs from you and acted like I had no idea why the borg outside your office was chopping peoples limbs of.

Don't know why but some captains just suffer every round lmao

  19. If our main argument against AI Traitor is "People will abuse it" then the AI Whitelist is not doing it's job. That argument can also be used for Command whitelists. Anyone carrying a whitelist should be fully aware of what it means to abuse power and make a round terrible for players. Whitelist holders are held to higher standards. If the problem is abuse, remove the abuser.
  20. We'll have none of that here, sir. Good day
  21. I love having the AI whitelisted, first of all. Law changes don't... really feel like they added much or did anything productive? Whitelisting the AI slot is what's really cleaned up the AI position. It was a firm choice. Malf's a fun gimmick, but I will agree with it's removal. Giving a sole antag to a position that already has to be whitelisted means you'll almost never see it. Where as traitor AI means you'll get taterAI with other taters.
