Workplaces like this almost always mandate a CPR class, as a general note. Also many players already do CPR, I don't see this as unique to this suggestion. If someone for some reason thinks their character shouldn't have basic first aid training then they can not have basic first aid training. An IPC would almost certainly have been given basic first aid training.

Seconding Moon's opinion. I would rather they were expanded on and improved. As a mystery aspect of telescience, I have always found them extremely cool.

That's actually exactly why I suggested bystander CPR. Because most medical personnel won't be doing CPR. It's usually done by, well, bystanders, who don't have professional medical training.

Seriously, please. I would play my IPC's way more if it wasn't for this. They currently feel... unfinished, as a subspecies, more like humans but worse. Being damaged and unable to repair yourself is already a pretty nasty drawback, being damaged and having to stutter step your way or crawl your way to robotics is pitiful. Small change that would make playing IPC dramatically less painful. And make anyone with synthetic limbs similarly have less of a horrid time. I have no idea why the mechanical limbs that I imagine are supposed to be superior to fleshy ones 'break' long before human ones do. Human bones break at 30 brute, are synth limbs made out of glass?

Thirding this. Let people be pasty. Just don't let people be chalk.

Cannot agree more with this. That will just make things incredibly confusing and make HoS very not fun to play. This would also make things incredibly confusing in emergencies.

So Bystander CPR has become increasingly popular nowadays because you don't have to do rescue breathing, or know the complex specifics of when rescue breathing is and is not beneficial. Basically it's perfect for people who are not trained medical professionals. Currently we have it so everyone knows rescue breathing CPR. Sure, that's fine, but synthetics are completely unable to do any CPR, which makes about zero sense. Not all synthetic models would be able to 'breath' air into someones' lungs, but all of them would be able to compress the heart to stimulate blood flow. And bystander CPR is still always preferable to no CPR. It's pretty common for a lot of our synthetic code to be clearly outdated, such as synthetics being unable to kick or stomp until Geeves added it—Thanks Geeves. Mechanically speaking, CPR isn't particularly great, and I see no real reason to deny synths having a mechanically weaker version of it, although I honestly wouldn't mind including it as is and removing the breath flavor from CPR in general, as this would be the much easier change. TL;DR: Lots of modern day CPR involves no rescue breaths, and rescue breaths are the only logical reason synths wouldn't be able to do CPR. Let Robofriend help, they're trying their best.

I am making this partially in response to the recent ruling, but also because the wording of Security uniform regulations has bothered me for awhile, and this has spurred me into suggesting an actual change. Okay so to explain why the uniform notice is awful I have to explain why it legalistically doesn't work at all. The point of things like this is generally to remove ambiguity, and have Judges decide if something broke the spirit of the law or not. So the regulations should probably reflect that in my opinion. In this case, the Warden or HoS are our 'Judges' that decide if the spirit of the regulation was broken, and thusly if it should be punished. The Officer can also make a judgement call on-scene to decide if the spirit of the rule was broken, which is one thing our regulations do well at least, they do state that intent matters, although maybe it should be more clear and consistent. Spirit of the rule matters way more than how it is actually written, so the spirit of the rule needs to be easy to consistently interpret. Relying on this also allows ambiguity without enforcing really silly things because you are reading it literally. If we read things literally, the trespassing regulation is broken pretty much constantly every day. Now let's look at the way the rule is written. Reading this as written, no personal modification of any kind is allowed unless it is necessary for your species' to wear it, like toeless jackboots. Okay, that's kinda restrictive, but whatever, it's clear at least. But let's try and read the intent of it, which is how we're supposed to be handling laws anyways. This sentence is horrid. It's already obvious what is and is not 'security uniform', there's absolutely zero reason to clarify this... unless the intent is different from the wording. If the intent is to allow slight personal modifications so long as they do not impact the ability to immediately identify you as security, then this makes a lot of sense. Now here's the problem. The first sentence is written as an absolute, and this is not written like an exception. This should be reworded to make it more clear what the intent is. So here is how it should be worded: This makes the intent much more obvious. You are supposed to wear just your uniform without any alterations, but a head may decide it's acceptable for you to modify it so long as you are clearly identifiable as a security member. I think this is how the majority of people have been playing the regulation, and it makes a lot of sense to reword it so that's clearer. If this is for some reason not the intent, that sentence can be removed entirely to make the intent clearer.

To be fair, people are still apparently fine with emagging drones, another ghost role, so ghost roles are clearly not all created equally. Anyways, if you see a rat that is being extremely disruptive you can always ahelp. I personally ignore rats nine times out of ten, or kill them fairly easily because they think hiding under a table will protect them from my inspected turf. Regarding the suggestion. Uh. Sure? I guess? I don't see much of a need for it, but it isn't hurting anything. There should be at least some visible indication that there is a trap, though. Rats may be a ghost role, but they're still players who should be rewarded for careful and cautious behavior (which is how rats should be played anyways.)

I genuinely pity the person who decides to try and fix gamemode selection. I don't think I have found a single server where it isn't spaghetti. I would not be shocked if all the servers were working off a mutated version of the original code, of which was never intended to go as long as it has. As is tradition with SS13.

They should also be banished if their body was properly stored. IE: Put into any morgue. I'm skeptical because this could be abused really easily, but I am also struggling to see what it adds, you know? Like, this doesn't scream bad per-se, but I also can't find a lot to positively say about it other than people care more about properly storing bodies. Also yes, whispering would be horribly abused.

Garnascus - Low RP Behavior, provocative.

I'm not 'justifying' anything. I am saying I had no issue with his antag play, that's it. I also want to note I wasn't Security either. Things like this are highly contextual, so saying you have been whacked for something similar doesn't hold a lot of water. I didn't comment on anything else because I had nothing to say about it. I am just saying what I did have a strong opinion on as a participator of the round. -

I was there for both rounds, and as someone who was personally involved in the second revolution round, I feel Garn's play was the highlight of it. The revolutionaries and loyalists weren't really doing anything interesting, and the light-hearted nature of what Garn's character was doing was really refreshing. I don't believe he killed a single soul, and it made for a really fun experience to an otherwise uneventful round. -
Let me go through my sharex history.

Ian is cloned on a regular basis, and learns from all of his deaths. I think it's insulting that you would think I didn't take that into account for my character. Also you are stinky. /s On topic, though, yeah, this will just get abused.

Do not touch my Beepsky. He is a good boy. He is trying his best. Also: Great post, Burger.

I like it. Mixing the odd antags with the more normal ones should create more interesting scenarios. Ninja+Wizard is often absolute chaos, to the point that they often fight each other.

This, this, this. Do not kill hostages unless they are asking for it. When you kill a hostage because Security rushed you, you do not spite Security, you spite the hostage, and make people far less likely to cooperate as a hostage in the future, damaging future rounds. Today I had a pretty good example of this. Two mercs and myself as a syndicate borg. We're in the conference room, and we want to get the nuke from the Captain for our hippie BS. One of the mercenaries stands up and aims at the Captain, hoping to take him hostage. Someone throws a flash grenade, and a shoot out starts. I fire off a single frag grenade, and the HoS and Captain start to run away towards the maintenance tunnels. I see them doing this. I could throw another frag grenade, and it would almost certainly kill them, and boy it sure as hell would be valid. But does killing them make the round better? No. So I let them go, and it later lead to a cool shootout as we fought over them. Something you always have to think of when you have the opportunity to kill someone, and this goes for both sides. If I kill this person, will it make for a better round? Both sides, avoid pulling guns until you need them. It sends a bad message. I am far less trusting of you not shooting me if you are wielding an SMG in my face. And as an antag, if you have a weapon out and you are security, I will treat you as a threat. Especially in regards to ion weaponry. Pulling your weapons is a part of escalation a lot of people forget. Also as a general rule, when someone uses aim intent, probably consider why. They could have just shot you if they wanted to kill you. So unless you think they will end up doing so, it might be best not to immediately try to fight back. Things like this are often why I let the other party shoot first. Do I sometimes die or lose a fight because I let them make the first shot? Yes. But it's overall better most of the time. If you are a new security player and fearful of staff talking to you, this is also a very good way to cover your butt. Also another thing for Antags: Can you do surgery on each other validly using your extended skillset? Absolutely. I have done it before as a Raider because it was necessary to keeping the person in the round. But if you can help it, try and force Medical into it instead. Whenever you are thinking of doing something yourself that would normally require another player to help, consider if it might not be more fun for everyone if you tried to force another player to do it instead. Hacking is a great example. Lots of antags give themselves hacking. But I have had a lot of great times forcing Engineers to hack in for me at gunpoint. This isn't always viable, sometimes you have bigger plans and it's necessary for keeping yourself in the round, but consider it when you can. Also this. People learn badly from negative reinforcement. It hurts the server, it hurts you, and it hurts the other person. Be excellent to each other, and we'l all have a much better time.

Always been a problem, I don't see this as a good reason to deny removing Pinocchio noses and football heads. If anything I like that this might mean we finally fix synthskin limbs not matching your skin tone.
-
The wood definitely looks better. Realistically it'd probably be the metal, but we're going for aesthetics here.

I god damn love it. :crab: THE PINOCCHIO NOSE IS GONE! :crab: My only beef is shells don't get to choose a preset.

Bicardine, Peridaxon, and Alkysine nerfs
Nantei replied to sonicgotnuked's topic in Discontinued Projects
A couple weeks ago I had to have Faith cryo me because a bicaridine OD was not fixing my IB and I was rapidly draining medical of their resources. In old medbay where we had a million blood bags this wouldn't be that big a deal. In current medbay, blood runs out fast, and it's frankly not any fun to sit around waiting to die, or scarf down food to unrealistically replenish your blood faster than you lose it. Bicaridine OD already heals IB pretty slowly. Surgery is generally better than chemistry when it comes to efficiently fixing most things. Chemistry can do it faster in some cases, but these are usually for minor damage where surgery wouldn't really be necessary anyways. A chest or head break can already leave you hospitalized. I see absolutely zero reason to further gate things behind surgery or die. -
Preventing tracking is pretty useless unless the AI is very stupid. They can zip around cameras like a meth addict, so scanning pretty much the entire station is trivially easy. If I am mentioning that I can't track someone as an AI, it's usually because I want to avoid validing. I could actually find them pretty damn easy if they were on cameras. If the intent of the agent ID to protect your identity from the AI, it does a pretty piss poor job at it. AI can give everyone a full physical description of you. Static protects your identity completely,, pretty easy to make it toggleable so you aren't constantly like that.
