unathi [Accepted] Goolies' Unathi Application 🦎
Happy_Fox replied to goolie's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Goolies is a wonderful roleplayer with many lovable characters and also Ryan Barrett. I would love to see them stop giving humans a bad image take their roleplaying skills to other species as well. -
Very well put. Ra are supposed to be very tough but in a defensive manner. They currently aren't and die very very quickly (this happened in the Bayonet Hand event when one was trying to save another vaurca). I have no idea where the idea they would be invincible requiring BSA to dislodge came from. Blocking a single tile is also only really effective in very specific places. Ignoring for a moment that you can literally just dislodge them/burn them until they move - most of the station can be accessed through separate routes or has several doors in a row (like the main corridors or department entrances). I think some people are blowing the tactical advantages of a slow, defensive-only bug turning into a single tile piece of inanimate and very destroyable, flammable terrain completely out of proportion.

"Similar to Workers, Bulwarks are generally passive, and prefer to flee a fight rather than resist. Though due to their speed, they may still choose to defend themselves should they be unable to properly escape a battle. The main exception to this is when another Vaurca is in danger. When this occurs, they tend to put themselves in between the attacker and the Vaurca, acting as a shield of sorts. They won’t go out of their way to take down the attacker, but will ensure the others get away safely."

Give Ra the ability to "lock down" into a defensive stance that makes them immobile but highly resilient to damage (temporary massive armour buff). Give it a charge-up and wind-down period (progress bar) to avoid people flicking it on and off in combat. Have it block line of sight like a mech but also reduce the Ra's sight to very close range (like blinders). Allow it to be pried apart by other Bulwarks, G2s and anything which allows you to force bolted doors open in the same manner. Make wall/door ants a reality.

Please let us wear wigs as IPCs... 🥺

Faye's Awesome Prosthetic Lore Overhaul
Happy_Fox replied to Faye <3's topic in Lore Canonization Applications Archive
The FBP lore makes it so much more believable that there has only ever been 1 instance of it being attempted. +1 -
Advanced Mutagen can be used on rats to create hostile mobs
Happy_Fox replied to NerdyVampire's topic in Archive
Its a good idea, lets extend it to other animal simplemobs. Like the schlorrgo. -
+1 from me because I like Groot

FINALLY I've been wanting this for so long.

I agree with whatever this is.

Making you immune to psi pings with a tinfoil hat is excellent.

Yeah for quieter times of the server when its less populated this would absolutely help avoid these issues. Having it so that people need to either be in the game or have played in it for a while to vote (in case they died in round and to avoid people just joining and cryoing to get a vote) would encourage people to join active rounds as well.

I feel that "Actor" would be a better term going forward for the server as HRP. It gives less emphasis on the antagonistic aspects of the roles and more on actually playing them believably as expected of the roles. What are your thoughts?

spriter Haydizzle's Spriter Appy
Happy_Fox replied to Haydizzle's topic in Developer Applications Archives
Haydizzle has a combination of artistic skill, drive and amazingness that I plan to steal one day. Until that happens, however, I support their application in a very biased way. +1 -
Omicega -- Command Whitelist Application

Lots of interaction with their department and believable roleplay from their character. Very good egg. +1 from me. -
Feedback: A Loadout Refactoring Before It Gets Too Late
Happy_Fox replied to Waff-AI's topic in Completed Projects
This is a fantastic decision for characters like Offworlders too, due to the selection and cost of their gear it can be hard to fit much else in the way of small items. This is a much better solution than just adding more points. +1 from me. -
I am massively biased on this point but I want the Gamer Skrell reality.

Anecdotal but I've been able to "lead" as a HoP during a situation/emergency while receiving medical treatment and being entirely immobilized. The vast majority of work for a HoP is using the computer at a desk/laptop or just talking over the radio. Everywhere they would need to get to (incl bunker and surface command) can be reached with ease or by elevator. Also agree with others on the cargo technician. I would imagine lifting a crate (say onto a table) is a basic requirement. It's a very physical role.

Also when the Xion mining team came to the station in the KotW arc they all had mining helmets on and looked FANTASTIC

I very much support extending hardhat access to miners for the benefit of IPCs/Dionae. Would also make sense for all miners in NBT if they need to do prospecting on planets etc to have access to them.

BYOND key: Happy_fox Discord name/id: Borg / AI names: SAM (AI) Have you read the Aurora wiki page about the AI?: Yes Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I want to continue to play AI as I enjoy the playstyle of a supportive role and extension to the station itself. I think I do a good job with AI, balancing the need to be observant and yet not "spoiling" an antag by shutting them down straight away. I also enjoy trying to provide players a mixture of seemingly automated and interpersonal interactions to present the AI as both a machine and an intellect designed to interact with crew when needed. I'm very interested in where the role of AI will be going in the future with the whitelist and was a vocal supporter of the concept of whitelisted AIs around the time when it was being considered to remove them from the server - so this is definitely something I want to engage with now that its being implemented. I've received good feedback on my AI play in the past and think I can keep to the standards expected. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they?: I've received no administrative actions. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action?: I do.

Thanks, works now.
