  1. Melariara will be running the manifest going forward
  2. I think the version without the clasp absolutely looks better
  3. It seems like this PR doesn't change the armor values of everything to compensate. This means armor will be functionally useless.
  4. A lot of people don't treat Goolies entirely seriously, but I think that's a mistake and I mean this wholly unironically and without even an ounce of jest: Goolies is absolutely one of Aurora's best roleplayers. He's in a league of his own and I think very few people are on his level. I have no doubts that he'll play a Vaurca well.
  5. Your involvement in the discord - either solely in the past or continuing into the present (regrettably, I no longer have access to it) - known as "The Based Department", which was and potentially still is a toxic, vindictive cesspool of embittered players and ex-players, where you and your friends behind the backs of the server as a whole mocked staff, mocked players, and mocked characters you didn't like totally precludes your suitability as a prospective member of the staff team, let alone as a server moderator. You have no place on the moderation team - not only because of your hostile attitudes towards both the server's players and against even members of staff you're supposed to be working with, but because being a moderator would allow you to act upon and target the individuals you mocked in private. The following screenshots are from just a few days' worth of logs. Mocking players: Mocking characters: Mocking staff: As a bonus, metagaming: Unfortunately, all of these are several months old. But I feel they're recent enough and substantial enough that it should prove you do not have the right mindset or the right personality to be a server moderator. Also, again, this is just a few days' worth of messages. You have thousands more in there. I cannot even be sure that you have not said or done things much, much worse than this, because I only picked out the most recent messages over the course of a thirty minute period. I am sure that if I kept looking, I could find a lot of stuff. And there is almost certainly a lot more I don't have access to, if this discord still exists and you are still a member. All I'll say is that I hope you don't have an ulterior motive for applying for moderator, but I don't think either way you can be trusted with the position. I recommend you evaluate your actions, reconsider how you interact with Aurora and the community as a whole, and most of all? Look at the people you hang out with (Hello! I know you guys are looking at this too.), and really examine the people in your clique. Finally, a disclaimer:
  6. We could use the Solarian cruiser @WickedCybs mapped for Dreary Futures 2. I plan on making it into an away site as well, but it can be used for these events too.
  7. It's pretty straightforward. Once a month at the most, we should have a canon event that takes place in virtual reality, wherein the Horizon is pitted up against a hostile ship. It would be relatively easy to run (you only need 3~ volunteers to play the enemy crew, though more makes it easier), and it would allow the playerbase to actually get an understanding for how ship-to-ship combat works. The fact of the matter is that ship-to-ship combat, for better or worse, is largely relegated to canon events, extremely infrequent scuffles between the Horizon and a third party ship, or still infrequent fights between non-Horizon ships. This means that very few people actually have a feel for ship-to-ship combat, which creates a problem when ship to ship combat is actually used for an event or it comes up naturally ingame. The few times where ship to ship combat has occurred, the Horizon has struggled to be effective, largely due to inexperience. This is essentially the only way to increase the frequency of ship to ship combat that I am aware of. I have been told that a hostile third party ship will not be allowed until the dynamic gamemode is implemented, and it seems like dynamic is still a long ways off, if it isn't shelved for the time being, and that an overmap-capable mercenary shuttle isn't something that's guaranteed to be added at all, even if PR'd.
  8. i agree with the guy above me
  9. Lain/TheBurninSherman would be an excellent addition to the moderation team. On top of being a great roleplayer with a great variety of well-developed characters, I think they've proven to be a level-headed and capable staffer in the first place based off of my interactions with them as a member of the lore team. They have my whole-hearted +1.
  10. No. Antagonists are not there to antagonize each other, they are there to antagonize the crew and drive the narrative in an interesting direction/tell an interesting story. I would much rather we outright remove Tower Defense (which I do not want us to do, mind you) than gimp it by turning into an antag vs. antag gamemode. The crew has won tower defense rounds before, even with all the antagonists against them. It's not impossible.
  11. I am pretty late to the party here, but I wanted to throw my hat in the ring and say that I think Faye's the candidate I think is best suited for the synthetic deputy slot at present. They have the tools for the job and the passion to match. My only real reservation is that I think the Trinary Perfection doesn't really need much attention right now, and in fact I'm not too hot on how it is written fundamentally at present - but ultimately that's a personal preference, and doesn't reflect negatively on Faye as a candidate. I am hopeful that Faye ends up being picked for the slot.
  12. Lore Impact (Small/Medium/Large): Very Small Species: Human, Synth Short Description: Konyang is a planet with three principal national origin points: Korea, China, and Japan. The cities on Konyang reflect this for the two former countries, but not the latter: No city on Konyang has a Japanese name. While this isn't ultimately a big deal, I do nonetheless think it's odd that Konyang has a city with an English name while lacking a city with a Japanese name. This suggestion seeks to rectify this by renaming Point Verdant to "Shinryoku", a word that google assures me is similar to "Verdant" in English. To prevent confusion, "Point Verdant" will remain as an alternate name for the city. How will this be reflected on-station?: The city of Point Verdant on Konyang will instead be known as Shinryoku Does this addition do anything not achieved by what already exists?: Yes. Do you understand that the project may change over time in ways you may not foresee once it is handed over to the Lore Team?: Yes. Long Description: Here is what I would recommend changing the entry on the wiki for Point Verdant to:
  13. Atteria has been a pretty great contributor as far as sprites are concerned so far. They've produced a whole bunch of sprites for a project I'm working on currently, and throughout the process they were a great help. Hopefully they end up a part of the team if they aren't already.
  14. I more or less agree that "breeder" is a bit of a yucky term. Gyne sounds a lot better, if you ask me, so I support this app.
  15. you can already do this https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/6940
  16. Let me just point out to my fellow feedbackers ahead of time that it should be kept in mind that these turf sprites don't exist in a vacuum - they're just part of a larger respriting project. Obviously they're going to look out of place as-is - the rest of the resprites aren't in. I'm going to echo the concern that the rivets take up too much visual real estate. I would recommend only using them on certain turfs/adding the rivets as a decal instead of as a part of the floor tile sprite itself. That way, you can sprinkle them around. Otherwise, they should be made smaller. I will also echo the sentiment that things are too bright/saturated at the moment. I've always felt that Kyres had a good point when he maintained that a darker background is best, as it helps make character sprites pop. At the moment, the floor tiles are as bright and eye-catching as the sprites, which is a serious problem. My other primary concern is that the plain-jane plating clashes badly with the normal floor tiles and grates. This is especially obvious in maintenance. Plating should be changed to match the palette of the grating/floor tiles.
  17. Not that my word means anything here (Schwann is actually on the lore team, I am not, and I'm biased in the first place as he's a very good friend of mine), but me and Schwann have talked pretty extensively about Schlosser's background/the NDF as a whole/etc and I think he's definitely very committed and invested in this character, her backstory, and the lore he's working with in regards to this character. I think it's definitely fair to give Schlosser this item, and on a personal level I appreciate that Schwann is working with a piece of lore that doesn't come up very often.
  18. I don't really have a strong feeling either way regarding this, but I will say that G2s are not the ideal species for a team-focused role like security officer. You are supposed to be able to respond quickly and to be able to keep up with your team, wherever they may go. G2s are slow and struggle to achieve either of those things. What G2s are good at are soaking up damage, however, which makes them very oppressive to antagonists, who are nearly always outnumbered and at best have slight equipment superiority over officers. Even fighting a lone officer in specialized armor can be a difficult task for an antagonist - going up against an entire department can be nearly insurmountable. Mix in G2s, which are difficult to kill and immune to pain, and you're sincerely fucked. Not for nothing, but people make a lot of fuss about antag G2s, when security G2s are a far more difficult threat to counter for whatever goes up against them than an antagonist G2. And that's not even considering the age-old fact that security has a far easier time of recuperating from their injuries than antagonists do. G1s are less of a problem, but their .8 brute modifier is nothing to scoff at. So what are we left with? A frame that isn't suited to being a team player, but absolutely dominates whatever it goes up against. Something has to change for sure. Not sure if this is a joke or not, but non-staff can't vote for dismissal. The problem with claiming there's no issue with G2s because certain situational counters exist is just that: they're situational. Ion rifles are low-capacity, a waste of TCs for anything except fighting IPCs or draining laser weapon charge, and large enough to carry that the storage cost is immense. The same goes for the PEAC. Emp grenades are, again, essentially a waste of TCs and are finite in numbers. They're also not foolproof: it's fairly easy to throw back an EMP grenade, or to walk away from it, and it's very easy to misuse them in the first place. I think you're just proving the point this thread is making: if an antagonist needs to buy niche weapons only effective against one type of enemy in order to have a chance at all of countering that enemy in a reasonable fashion, there is a problem. The fact of the matter is that TCs are far too precious of a resource to be dumping into something like this.
  19. A well distinguished man is walking through the hood, as people see him walk down the street, a group of thugs eye him down and decide to follow him. The group of gangsters follow the man into the elevator, where they take him into their secret lair. When the man arrives, the harsh organization of gangster's that run the hood strip him of all his belongings, and hold him hostage in their secret lair. It is now up to the town sheriff to rescue the man, and arrest the gangster organization for their crimes against the town.

  20. I would much rather we work on the readability of the new sprites as opposed to reverting them outright, considering how much of an improvement they are in terms of art quality and stylistic consistency.
  21. Hey buddy I think you got the wrong door, the LRP club's two blocks down
  22. I don't really have many outstanding concerns, but this equipment room is absolutely too cramped. The round-start rush to get geared will be a pain in the ass when you're hemmed in on all sides by other officers, having to force your way through them to get to your locker or to get out of the equipment room. I also think the holding cells and isolation cells are too cramped as well, but that's less of an issue. The equipment room needs to be at least one tile taller.
  23. I need one real nasty son of a bitch to kill a bastard for me
  24. Beware the enemies of roleplay. They lurk in every shadow.

    1. Girdio
    2. goolie
    3. Scheveningen

      Scheveningen

The enemy of roleplay is the girl reading this

  25. To be fair, I think last event's lackluster roleplay situation was definitely in part perpetuated by Aurora regulars, and not something we can necessarily dump on the backs of hub players.
