  1. Most, if not all, IPC's are constructed to augment and fill a workforce and are therefore given the directive to complete their assigned work; IPC's of varying complexity may complete their work in different ways however, it is important to the IPC to see the job done. Another one of most IPC's 'key directives' is to ensure their own safety, IPC's are expensive and almost every IPC is aware of their cost, regardless of if they are owned or not: A free IPC may be incredibly cautious around hazardous sites as they may not be able to afford their own repair, whilst an owned IPC, although still cautious, would divert less attention to the danger. The way an IPC thinks can greatly vary depending on the complexity and age of their positronic brain, an outrageously expensive IPC may be able to develop habits and complex memories while functioning in it's work, remembering and identifying their colleagues, superiors and subordinates different names, features and traits. Compared to the highly complex IPC's previously mentioned, lower-end IPC's may not be able to process all of the information to a standard that the higher-end IPC's can, often leading to said lower-end IPC's not being able to progress far in their line of work, if being able to at all. @The Stryker Is this enough, or should I expand more?
  2. Hi! Easter weekend has been eating up a lot of me freetime, I'll start expanding on how IPC's think now. If it's not done in 6-8 hours from now, please close the application, I'll recycle it at a later date.
  3. @niennab I've updated the role-playing section, it's not as good as I think it can be but I don't know what else to put in. I think I'm running out of time for this. I'll recycle this app at a later date if the question still isn't fleshed out enough.
  4. Yes, I'd just been waiting for some feedback on the updated backstory, seeing if it was what it needed it be. Will start expanding on the question, yes.
  5. Updated backstory, I'd love to hear feedback. I'll start fleshing out how IPC's differ from humans tomorrow if the backstory is all up to scratch.
  6. Hi! Sorry for taking so long to reply. My intention with Al is to not have much of a character to start with, moulding them to form as I go along; as such I don't really have much of an idea on how I can expand on their backstory. How would you suggest I write more? As for how IPC's roleplay, I may not be able to add any more to that for the next couple hours, adapting the wiki to writing takes a while for me, I have difficulties, I'll try my hardest, though.
  7. BYOND Key: BunkyB Character Names: Oliver Kurtis, Asmaa Hanania Species you are applying to play: IPC Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: After having spent a while writing and playing Dionae characters; I'd like to branch out further into other species. I don't have the motivation to apply for the more complex species, Unathi, Skrell and Tajara. Between Vaurca and IPC, I had to go with IPC; previously, I had much experience with IPC characters and writing/playing IPC characters of my own, skills I've learnt from other servers may be easier to apply here. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: An IPC, or Integrated Positronic Chassis is a highly complex machine that bares a humanoid appearance, playing as an IPC would often require you to adjust your roleplaying to show that you aren't exactly human, this can be accomplished in a few ways: Language: IPC's have their own unique language they can use to communicate with other IPC's and synthetics, they also posses slang terms and honorifics for this language. Of course, IPC's own language is not the full extent of how they can alter their communication, as a machine, you can choose to take influence from pop-culture and speak like a machine using certain keywords such as; Affirmative, Processing and other computer-lingo. Integrating these types of words into general speech is great way to express yourself as an IPC. Clothing and Appearance: Although most chassis' posses a reasonable humanoid appearance, some chassis, like the Zeng-Hu Mobility Frame, have distinct parts that alter their silhouette making them appear less human, you could make the choice to adjust your loadout to show these limbs, appendages or parts to make yourself appear less human. Some humans have difficulties interacting with machines, including IPC's, resulting in a handful of IPC's attempting to look as professional and relatable as possible, covering themselves in suits, dresses and anything that makes them look friendlier and more appealing to humans. IPC's can age similar to how humans can age, the longer they work and experience damage, the worse off they'll be; IPC's that have sustained a lot of damage may move slower, posses speech malfunctions and even have mismatched parts. An IPC's lifespan could be dramatically shorter or longer based on the circumstances they're in, whether they're owned or not is a huge factor in an IPC's upkeep. Character Name: HephtG1-Al13 Please provide a short backstory for this character: HephtG1-Al13 is an older Hephaestus Generation One Industrial Chassis that was initially constructed at the HPS Amóni. Prior to the finalization of the of HPS Sidirourgeío Hephaestus Industries expressed a need for EVA Workers and Freighter Crew, deciding to producing a large batch of G1 chassis': Al13 is one unit from the 'Al' batch produced from 2417-2418, fifty units were produced not including spare parts, the chassis' that were produced had been neatly divided into their roles prepared for finishing the construction of the Sidirourgeío. Al13 was amongst twenty-four other G1's assigned to one of Hephaestus Industries many freighters with the assigned task of re-supplying and re-fuelling the various construction sites around the Sidirourgeío, Al13's primary directive was, unsurprisingly, slugging around large crates and boxes from freighter-to-site and vice-versa. Al13 often conversed with any other G1's they could; trying to co-ordinate the most effective methods of hauling the boxes they did until the Sidirourgeío finished it's construction. From twenty-four peers, to five peers, to ten subordinates; not long after the construction Hephaestus Industries top of the line facility, Al13 became a lower level management IPC, quickly and effectively submitting orders and guiding the IPCs under them, remaining in a lower lever administrative position until the introduction of the Hephaestus Industries Generation Two Industrial Chassis. The G2 wave hit hard and fast, all of Al13's subordinates being scrapped, repurposed or reassigned; due to the position Al13 held, they were able to remain relevant for a few years until their eventual dismissal from active work, being stored somewhere for later use. The formation of the Stellar Corporate Conglomerate gave Hephaestus Industries an opportunity to show initiative and get rid of their older models, deciding to distribute unused G1's among the megacorps in the SCC. Awakening from low-power mode to a room they've never seen, Al13 found themselves on the NTCC Odin, being one of the G1's contracted out to one of NanoTrasen's stations. Al13 is contracted to work as a Cargo Technician aboard the NSS Aurora. What do you like about this character? Al13 allows me to understand how to play IPC while liaising with one of the lower effort jobs on-station. I really like Hephaestus Industries lore however I can't write a good human Hepht character, perhaps Al13 will be a better attempt. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I have recently made a large effort to write a lot more for my main two characters, giving them fully fleshed out flavour-texts and giving them their own unique speech patterns. I think I've developed a better sense of how to roleplay from the time between my previous Dionae application and this IPC one.

  10. Diona don't get enough light from lanterns or hardhats to survive in space. They're boned unless someone gives them a circuit light.
  11. Detective gamer speaking. The Detective role is super outdated, a lot of the points have already been said, so I'll skip over the Detective role entierly. I do like Detective being a separate role but I'm not totally against the roles being merged; sharing an office with a CSI buddy is something I've wanted to do for a long time. Couple questions, though: Will there be separate job titles? Or will it be a single blanket-term "Investigator" job title? Why remove Officers access to Evidence Storage? Seems like a step back. There's only one set of machines in the forensics lab, is this intentional? Two sets of machines would be better. FT and Det have access to the medical records, (criminal psychology, blood types, etc.) Will the consoles in the Investigations office have Medical Records pre-installed? Are the windows of the office tint-able? If so remove the windows from this door. And some things I'd like to see changed: Windoors in these three locations. Stairs here; they add a lot more depth to the department. Move the air alarm to here, giving people room for flags above their lockers. And moving the CSI kits to this rack in the main office.

Twink Cadets are the true evil, as they often never graduate to full Officer status despite usually being experienced players. There is nothing worse than hogging a learner slot for anything other than learning the role or an avowal.

It also now just occurred to me that Twink Cadets fall under both definitions of Twink.

  13. Talking as a Detective gamer, the other Investigations Staff I see don't wear buis-cas and instead go for their personal clothing, some even without their DIA Badge - though this is besides the point. If this change were to happen, I'd expect all HoS' to wear the 'Badge, HoS' item in a clear spot on their loadout. (belt slot, over-wear accessory, etc.) Possibly even adding a security armband to their loadout. Detectives have the resources and capabilities to detain a suspect, but hand over processing to the officers, as investigations staff don't process people. If you were to play as a pen-pusher HoS, I'd expect you to delegate processing to your officers if you bring someone in, continuing; don't over-equip as a buis-cas HoS (don't make a sec belt part of your loadout) Other than those 'issues' I'm all for this. +1 +Edit Badges can't be attached to plate carriers, which sucks, you may have to keep your badge on your belt slot if required to wear a plate carrier.

  17. Feel like adding AMR ammo to a hacked autolathe would be pretty cringe, instead it could be: AMR: 15TC AMR AMMO: 5TC per mag This way, if you spend all your TC on it, would give you 12 shots to deck 12 people, which I think is more than enough. Limit AMR to Merc Uplinks, too. Or AMR: 20TC Keeping AMR ammo in a hacked autolathe except 3000 metal produces one bullet, in order to hanidcap the antag giving the crew more time to recover from getting decked. Two rounds in a pile too, like 7.62 piles, still limited to Merc Uplinks. Surgery Drone is a neat idea but it's totally possible that people who know nothing about surgery will just suck the slot up, ruining the purchase or just - not doing surgery at all because they're salty about being gamed. Safer to keep it AI controlled, maybe activated via ID like robotics robots. Something I'd suggest is just some uniforms, Megacorp and Alien both; cham kits take up a little bit too much time and just get dismissed when super cool gamer detective discovers a dial on the jumpsuit. Having some genuine, quick to buy and equip uniforms would alleviate this, I'm not suggesting to remove the cham kits but, just throw in some basic ass uniforms from all the major factions. Don't have a comment on the other suggestions.
  18. Hi! Sorry for the wait, I misread your last sentence. I'm assuming the only question you want me to reply to is the quoted one? If so: Meats remembers the trauma they faced when initially growing their limbs, as they felt an unbearable amount of pain after growing their legs. If such an occurrence were to happen again, Meats would remember the trauma and likely retreat from the danger and locate a quiet corner where they can consolidate their feelings and attempt to regrow the limb they lost. Meats does not wish to separate a Diona Nymph from their gesalt as they fear the same trauma would happen again, however they are not adverse to removing a Nymph if the situation calls for it.
  19. Hi, thanks for the quick reply. Meats gets along well with a large majority of other Dionae, asking them to share their experiences to acquire a better grasp on things that go on around the Orion Spur as most Dionae they meet are ages older than them. A place Meats commonly frequents is the Biesellian Choir as Meats tries to figure out how to align themselves with the rest of the Dionae they meet, Meats doesn't see the Biesellian Choir as much more than a hub for them to visit, however this may change with time as the character learns more about them self and other Dionae. Meats is acutely aware of the different followings that Dionae obsess about, OOCly I do plan to have Meats eventually fully follow the Blood Eternal following, however when the character is initially introduced, they won't be aligned with that at all. I've planned for Meats to be non-essential roles that require little involvement. The jobs I want Meats to be in are Janitor, Assistant and Lab Assistant; Meats is in the Lab Assistant role to better connect with the person that grew them. @Zundy
  20. BYOND Key: BunkyB Character Names: Oliver Kurtis, Amira Farideh, Siavash Erdashi, P.E.T. (pAI) Species you are applying to play: Dionae Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes, I've read over most of the pages a handful of times. Why do you wish to play this specific race: When I play as station-crew, I try my hardest to avoid antags, which is why my primary characters are non-essential roles; however if I create a Dionae character, I believe that antags will generally avoid me due to my characters pacifism, this will open up a few more roleplay opportunities such as; interacting with the antag, questioning them about the things they are wearing/doing. I've never had a Dionaea whitelist before, on any server and I've only ever heard bad things about the race, however I'd like to try it for myself, it sounds fun being a slightly clueless plantman. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Mechanically? Dionae and Diona Nymphs have their own unique language, Rootsong. Rootsong is a collection of natural sounds that the Dionae creates by rustling it's it's vertebrae, it often sounds like leaves moving in the wind among other things. To Dionae, Rootsong is a complete and defined language with it's own deeply complex connotations; to anyone that doesn't understand Rootsong, the language just sounds like an orchestra of natural sounds. Dionae and Diona Nymphs feed off of radiation, most commonly ultra-violet radiation, if a Dionae is not exposed to radiation for an extended period of time, it would 'die', as such, your Dionae character could express themselves that they are uncomfortable standing in a poorly lit enviroment and make the attempt to move out of it and into a better one. Dionae and Diona Nymphs can consume almost everything and turn it into nutrition they can use, this can create varied situations where a Dionae character is happy eating literal trash in front of others, Dionae can also regenerate missing limbs with their own biomass, causing them to quickly become hungry for more. This can lead to situations where a one-legged Dionae is waddling around looking for anything he can consume. Dionae Cyclops can come from almost anywhere in the known universe, with Dionae clusters in every large part of the orion spur, from the Emperors Royal Garden, a Dominian based cluster to the highly diverse and unique The Narrows cluster based in the human frontier. All different clusters have their own sub-culture that a Dionae gesalt adapts to before it proceeds outwards into space, allowing for a really large variety of different Dionae characters. Character Name: Insatitable Hunger for More Meats Please provide a short backstory for this character: Insatiable Hunger for More Meats was grown aboard the NSS Aurora by Xenobotanist Taika Thompson, Thompson nursed the Diona Nymph into a Dionae Cerberus, helping the Dionae find their way to the Biesellian Choir, letting them slowly figure out more about their own species; finding another Cerberus Gesalt to merge with, turning into their own Cyclops. Insatiable Hunger for More Meats gained their name from their first experience of become a Cerberus, they found themselves to be incredibly hungry, the Xenobotanist, Thompson kept feeding them tins of spam, corned beef and meat pies; allowing them to grow into a fully healthy Cerberus, the Dionae remembered the hunger they felt while injured and without limbs, while slightly traumatizing to them at the time, this was their first memory as a Gesalt and that influenced the food they ate and the things they did. Insatiable Hunger for More Meats doesn't find themselves to be as religious as other Gesalts in the Biesellian Choir, as they've not been around for long enough. Through Xenobotanist Thompson, Insatiable Hunger for More Meats was introduced to NanoTrasen and their workforce, eventually getting a low-priority job in the service department, eventually gaining enough education to become a Lab Assistant. Insatiable Hunger for More Meats doesn't understand why people go home on the transfer shuttle, instead opting to stay on-station to complete more of their work, if forced to leave the station they would return to the Beisellian Choir. What do you like about this character? This character gives me a lot of chance to expand and write, evolving their character as I go on and learn more about Dionae, as they've not conformed to any of the clusters and instead are their own separate entity. I'm happy to try Dionae and I think a blank slate character like this would be a great introduction. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I believe I'm decent at roleplaying, I'm not the best and I can't handle a lot of situations in a good manner, however I do try my hardest to incorporate roleplay into everything I do.
