Herpetophilia's epic Command application
Faye <3 replied to Herpetophilia2's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I had a round with their HoP and Vasily was nice enough and communicated. I wouldn't mind playing with them again. -

I agree with Dronz in this regard. I do not want to see mechanical skills and much prefer RP, but if for some god-forsaken reason someone wants to implement it, it should be character-based rather than job based.

Boggle08's Synthetic Developer Application
Faye <3 replied to Boggle08's topic in Developer Applications Archives
I feel as though many people that write about robots in a dystopian science fiction context are preoccupied with the misery of being a robot, the disappearance of personhood, and other similar concepts. In my view the struggle of being an IPC, existing on the verge of personhood, and grappling with outright hostile to vaguely-sorta-maybe fine governments and laws to be one of its core concepts and a very important one, but I worry that too much focus on the frustration and pain of being an IPC would make the species less fun to play, and I don't think playing a species that is just miserable all of the time is very fun. Have you thought about how best to balance between IPCs being a marginalized people and often having difficulties in every-day life while also retaining player enjoyment and freedom? What are your thoughts and philosophy in regards to this? Your lore is interesting, but tends to be quite dark. As synthetic lore developer, how do you intend to balance negative and positive lore? Thanks for your consideration! -
[Feedback] Moving the Bridge to the Construction Level
Faye <3 replied to furrycactus's topic in Discontinued Projects
i think this could be cool. i would just be sure that there's manual access to the bridge (ladders or a stairwell or smth) incase antags fuck w/the elevators or something -
I'm not against this being a loadout flag per se, but this is kind of a niche character ideology for a part of lore that's already sort of niche. I would want Human loredev's thoughts on making it a loadout item before anything, as one person or a small group having the flag is one thing, but many of them is another entirely. With other flags, they're for fully established entities. The IAC is a trans-stellar corporation, other planetary flags are for entire planets or multi-planet entities, or giant corporations. The CoC Fisanduh flag is from a single planet, and even then it's only like a chunk of that planet stubbornly holed up in a mountain chain. That is small enough, but becomes smaller still when you consider that a Fisanduh - Coalition alliance is not at all the only prominent opinion within the Confederacy, and that not all Fisanduhians support it in an already small population. While I think it being a loadout item would definitely bring more awareness to it, I'm not sure if that's a good thing? I can't imagine many people outside of Moroz and maybe a few people in CoC even know what the fuck Fisanduh is, let alone why it would be potentially in the CoC, As a loadout item would serve a niche playerbase for a very small part of lore, rather than a large corporation or empire or group. I think that Fisanduh alone is just enough to warrant a loadout flag. I do not think a political ideology within Fisanduh is large enough to warrant anything more than a custom item.

BYOND Key: PersephoneQ Discord Username: faye#4607 Character Name: Bian Quy Le Item Name: Coalition Fisanduh Unity Flag Item Function: It's a flag! Item Description: A well-loved flag often seen hung by those advocating for Fisanduh's legitimization and acceptance into the Coalition of Colonies. Why is your character bringing this item to work?: Le is a consular for the Coalition of Colonies, and an issue near and dear to her heart is to use her position to spread awareness for the Confederacy of Fisanduh, tactfully of course. How did your character obtain this item?: Bian and others likeminded individuals drafted up the design for a new flag, one that would advocate Fisanduh as a proper state and it's entry into the Coalition. When these flags were produced, she bought one for herself. What value does this item have to your character, and what story does it tell?: The War for Liberty as it is known among those within the Fisanduh mountain range is a near and dear topic to Le. The war has been a very important for her character, shaping who she is and what she does today. After fleeing Moroz, the woman went to school in the hopes of becoming a consular for the Coalition with dreams of one day returning to her beloved homeland and seeing it returned to it's former glory. She believes that Coalition aide is the safest, surest way to achieve such a goal, and as such carries this flag to further that end. I honestly don't think that this would change anything. I would be willing to bet that regardless of what antag rolls are called, 'antag' is already in the server's lexicon dictionary and they would continued to be called such.

Command Application (Charger10k)
Faye <3 replied to Charger10k's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I've talked to Charger a lot and I think that they're a pretty good writer with realistic, believable characters. I think they would make very good command staff. + 1 -
yeah let me roll a potential biohazard down from medical to the chapel office LMAO nah the medbay morgue really needs a crematory. going into quarantine sucks

After Shadow's decision to try for command on a different character and having talked to them a bit on discord about their plans for Sszk (being a character arc where they learn to control their emotions better and adapt to a more professional environment over time), I don't see why they shouldn't be given a Trial. ^^
-
I think that this player is capable of command, though Sszk is a kind of a, put bluntly, unga bunga Unathi. I knew of and had heard of that aspect of the character before interacting with them personally. Some of their IC behavior has struck me as quite honestly unbecoming of Command-staff (I think the remark that Danse posted earlier with the r-word is particularly harsh, and I would not want to share command with someone who has fits like that.) However, this is nothing that cannot be worked on and improved especially in Trial, and I think that maybe if Sszk adapted and showed restraint more often in his day to day they would make a well enough fit for Command. I think that any character advancing to command needs to realize that they cannot act like regular crew anymore and change their behavior accordingly. Furthermore, it does really take a bit of practice and it's kind of a mental swap to get into the command mindset and learn the dos-and-don'ts of command behavior and etiquette. God knows I struggled with it at first. Just something to keep in mind / consider. I will likely comment again once I have shared command with them, should they be trialed.

Desven's Command (CMO actually) application
Faye <3 replied to Desven's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
This isn’t a -1 and I am more than sure than you are capable of performing the role, but I do have concerns as to Godard’s tendencies to perform in round. Yhara rather often has to separate him and any Fisanduhian due to arguing, insulting and bickering frequently, especially if they speak Freespeak. Additionally, Pierre has refused orders from Yhara to operate on people before, whether because of prosthetics or their nationality. I am not trying to argue semantics or attempt to mess with your app, but a CMO that could potentially refuse treatment probably isn’t ideal. Will Pierre’s behavior change in the future to be more in line with the expectations of command if he is given permanent CMO? -
I've had good fun on my CMO partnering up security investigators and surgeons to perform autopsies. There is no difference between a "security autopsy" and a "medical autopsy". It gives both departments something to do. If security investigators want to be a stick in the mud and prevent medical from interacting with the corpse at all then they should be allowed to do that, but medical should be able to provide autopsies with or without investigator presence.

NerdyVampires petition to legalize BUDDY

I have interacted with BUDDY a fair bit as Yhara and through my rounds with them I've come to know them as a reliable, trustworthy AI. I would very much like to see BUDDY around again. -
The Stryker's (mistake) AI Application

i mean yeah??? theyre a synth dep and CPR is a good AI -
I think that MccRib is outwardly pretty goofy who plays a goofy character (Ian), but their skrell Qu'ei is easily one of my favorite skrells played. They avoid the pit that a lot of skrell players fall into of emotionless apatheitc beings, while also not going so far as to be entirely human in their emotions. Qu'ei is a slightly awkward, very earnest character who I enjoy RP'ing with in medical. I definitely think they have a good understanding of the lore, and could do really cool things if given the opportunity to write for skrell lore.

Title. It is just extremely frustrating and every uranium golem spawn goes the same. They spawn in, immediately wander into a populated area and medical suddenly has to deal with 5 or more people with extreme radiation poisoning that, if not treated quickly, will go into organ failure and die. It just isn't fun. Medical can literally do nothing else but treat radiation patients, as anyone who so much looks at the golem while it wanders around gets extreme radiation in seconds. The most recent one, we had 10+ immediate radiation cases all at once and two deaths because medical could not physically keep up, and the manifest at the time was pretty big with pharmacists constantly producing our two anti-rad chems. I would suggest removing the chance of spawning as a uranium golem, or reworking it to not be nearly so lethal. At best, security can very quickly kill them, at worst (and most of the time, really) the golem completely removes medical from the round for a bit.
