Allow surgeons to work with prosthetic/mechanical organs
Faye <3 replied to Omicega's topic in Policy Suggestions
glad to hear it! ty ❤️ -
Oh, no, yeah, totally. I would have different community behavioral expectations if given a trial, and I fully believe I could meet those. Thank you for your reply ❤️

Server Moderator Application Basic Information Byond Account: PersephoneQ Character Name(s): Yhara Atiyeh, Sanaa Al-Mansoor, Lady Verline Steerpike, Parting Glass, KAISERIN AI Name(s): N/A Discord username + tag: faye#4607 Age: 19 Timezone: EST When are you on Aurora? Usually day-time and evenings EST. I am a student presently, attending class in the sprint and winter and working during the summers. On a free day, I clock in two rounds or so. Experience How long have you played SS13?: Since last October. How long have you played on Aurora: Since last October - Aurora was the first server I played. How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?: I know medical like the back of my hand, and I love teaching it. I know service pretty well, and I am dipping my toes into security at the moment. I think my weak areas would be engineering and science, though I'm sure that can be amended. Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?: Nope! Have you read through the criteria thread and believe that you mark off all the criteria?: Yeah. Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: Never been banned, have been warned once. I may have a note? Not sure! Personality Why do you play SS13?: I love writing, I enjoy roleplaying and I adore my characters. Sharing this love of writing with others and seeing their own love of character development and collaborative story-telling is a lot of fun to me. Why do you play on Aurora?: Aurora was the first - and only - SS13 server I've played, and I do not have any desire to play anywhere else. I enjoy the quality of RP and the community greatly. What do moderators do?: Moderators ensure the role-play experience on the Aurora and even outside of the game remains smooth and consistently of high quality. They mediate disputes, educate and inform players, and wind 'Darth Vader the Security Cadet' on occasion. What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?: I think the easy answer is that a moderator is a skilled writer, communicator, and is knowledgeable of gameplay mechanics. Additionally, you should be an active member of the community and up to date on the lore. I think what's most important, however, is that you have a passion for playing the game and sharing that passion with others. Problem-solving, attention to detail, initiative and other stereotypical interview answers are all good and important, but none of that matters if the passion isn't there. Why do you want to be a moderator?: A few reasons! I am a firm believer of action over spoken word, and I'd like to finally put my money where my mouth is. I do sincerely care for this community, and I should want to see it be a safe, comfortable and welcoming space for everyone. Also, I get the feeling that moderation has quite the workload, and wouldn't mind another hand or two. What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?: I like to think that I am patient and understanding. I am a nursing student IRL, and have spent many an hour working with assisted living residents or as an in-house caregiver. I enjoy seeing people learn, and to see another person learn and understand something they didn't know before is one of my favorite feelings ever. I think it's why I like teaching medical interns so much, haha. I think everyone has their heated moments or moments where their emotions get the better of them, but at the end of the day we're all someone behind the screen. Kindness and empathy can go a long way, and I think I might have enough of that to do pretty well on moderation. I also know command gameplay fairly well, and I think that's a boon for any moderator. How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?: I'm pretty cool with insults, I think. Being someone with the identity I have, you learn to be pretty level-headed with insults and taunts. With stress, I know when I'm tilting and know when to step back, as well as having a support network of friends and activities to destress. However, I can have a bit of a temper. However, I think that this temper is one of my strengths. I am usually pretty good about turning that temper into passion, and passion is the life of all things. Take the recent squabble surrounding the Skrell Lore Deputy pick. I will not lie, I was not happy about that. But I was able to turn those negative feelings into passion, and control them. The paragraph I wrote was from a place of sincerely wanting to see the server made better, and wanting fair treatment for a player on the Aurora. I understand that as a moderator - if given the chance - I will need to re-approach how I handle that kind of thing.

Command Application - Equairio
Faye <3 replied to Equairio's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Hi hi. I play Yhara, and I've CMO'd over Equiario a few times. I know they are mechanically competent, but I do not know them well OOC. So I'd like to ask a question! What is your teaching philosophy regarding interns? Do you feel as though you're a good teacher? I firmly believe that interns are the lifeblood of medical, and consider educating and involving them in the department to be extremely important. -
I like most everything about this a lot, I wouldn't mind making a Valyrian now tbh. However, I am not so much a fan of the Top of the World. It's just kind of weird to me? That Miranda basically has a private city that's invite only. Critique aside, I think this gives a nice facelift to what was one of the most generic locations in our lore! Good stuff.

I think that McCrib is really good at cultivating a sense of believable weirdness that is really important to Skrellian identity. I think a lot of Skrell players get caught up in the 'emotionless frog talks like a robot' or 'weird frog is entirely unable to interact normally with humanity' when trying to make a skrell that is within Skrell themes, but Hugh has nailed it in terms of the skrell's weird and maybe a little awkward nature while also being fun and interesting and engaging to talk to. I'd love to see them as Maintainer, and if not that, then a deputy spot for sure.

Allow surgeons to work with prosthetic/mechanical organs
Faye <3 replied to Omicega's topic in Policy Suggestions
it's kind of ass to tell someone they're shit out of luck if there's no roboticist and the patient has ruined organs. additionally, i've seen several roboticists refuse to help medical with organs because their character doesn't ic'ly know how, which is entirely valid. the whole thing exists in this rlly weird grey area imo. in real life, we have prosthetics that graft directly into the bone. the surgery to connect the prosthetic to the bone is done by the surgeons, and the actual design and such of the prosthetic is done by orthotists. it goes the same with organs, a separate group assigns and produces the prosthetic organ, and surgeons install it. realism shouldn't be the onus in aurora medical, but in this case i think that the divide between the roboticist being able to only install prosthetics is extremely whack. additionally, aurora medical can be pretty unforgiving depending on how badly someone is injured. i've seen many times where i've had to find a roboticist and order them to medical only for the patient to die in the meantime. why should it not be the same here? a surgeon wouldn't be designing the prosthetic heart / lung / liver / limb, they would just know how to connect it and get it working. medical would still have to ask robotics to make the part, additionally. if we'd want to compromise, why not make it so you have to see a roboticist for external prosthetic limbs? you won't die from not having an arm, but you will die from missing an organ. and, yeah, surgeons have always been able to smear nanopaste on stuff. i've even done it on my physician, but it's extremely vague on the wiki and should be specifically noted imo. -
Forgot to ask. For current command IPCs owned by NT, will their ownership be transferred to the SCC?
-
i like the PR ones more.
-
i have a command character who's identity is very much based in being owned by NT b/c robot. She was manufactured by Zeng-Hu and NT on a collaboration project. How will this translate to the new SCC command division? Are we still free to headcannon how the SCC will treat it's IPC personnel? One of my favorite bits about NT's lore is that you could generally decide how NT would handle them and how much independence they would be granted, but the SCC division implies that they will also be beholden to corporations like Zavodskoi or Idris who are not as kind to their robots. i also agree w/Desven very much. it'd suck to have to wear a contractor uniform : /

Gonna repost my question to the other app. As of rn, the Federation has a terrible reputation IC'ly and generally speaking, Skrell events are known for their high levels of chaos and general frustration. How would you want to try to 'rehabilitate' the Federation's image so that most players don't IC'ly just straight-up hate them anymore? Are you interested in that to begin with? With the massive power disparity between Jargon and the Aurora in gear and technology, how would you create an event that still brings a compelling narrative? A major concern I've seen in the past is that the Federation character always have very strong gear and such, to the point of not being able to even remotely challenged by the Aurora crew.

no thanks. if i don't have antag enabled it's because i do not want to play an antag. if someone emag'd the IPC i was playing i would just cryo. same with cult, and any other game-mode that involves forcible conversion. i do not enjoy playing antag at all and if i was able to be emagged in this manner on something as common as an auto-traitor round, then that would be pretty fucking terrible. cult and vampire are, relatively speaking, much less frequent than tator. i've never liked this feature to begin with, but you could avoid it by using the actual cyborg chargers themselves, however inconvenient. with the suggested amendment, there would be no way to avoid being emag'd and thus having your round derailed to play something you're not interested in playing. additionally, consider IPC heads of staff. on no other mode except cult or vampire (to my knowledge! correct me if i am wrong) is there another way to forcibly antag a head of staff. i already get held at gunpoint in my office or taken raider hostage enough on my CMO. I do not want to see 'hee hee me emag you' added into the mix. antag heads of staff are already painful enough on the few rounds they happen on, and i don't think anyone would want them on something as common as a traitor round.

Kaizr's Exponentially Dumber Command Application
Faye <3 replied to Kaizr's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
i wanted to wait until i had a round w/kaizr before replying. they were good at giving orders and making sure the department was doing things, my only real critique would be to keep the dept more informed of whatever's going on with the station. +1 -
Triogenix wants to shill - a command app
Faye <3 replied to Triogenix's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I don't have any doubt that you're capable of CMO'ing. i think that the command mindset takes a little practice to get into, and i'd like to see you be more of a presence in medical. Give orders, assign tasks, make sure the department is ready to respond, etc. -
I don't like golems. My worst memory involving a golem is one that spawned in the command bunker and wouldn't tell us where it was. It shredded through multiple reinforced doors, perhaps more, and made a mess of the bunker. I had to interrupt both my own and @Sycmos's engineer's RP to take them down into the bunker, escort the golem out and start the pain in the ass process of rebuilding all of those reinforced doors. It was stupid, it interrupted multiple player's RP and the entire thing was just LRP nonsense. I'd appreciate their removal.

this forum loves to take the relatively inane shit and act like ZH contractors are given the keys to the fuckin sat-auth. THEY'RE EYE-FLASHLIGHTS. they're not even that bright !!! who cares !! grow up!!!! i think that rather than making these augs available to everyone, a MUCH better solution is to give every fac thematically relevant augs n stuff.
-
Play a physician who doesn't know how to do surgery. No one will force you. A physician /can/ do some surgeries, but does not have to. Nothing keeps you from doing recovery RP on a physician, intern or surgeon, also.

i am more than willing to give you a crash course in chems PM me @ faye#4607

hi. so i originally told the hos to come down to medical b/c two people who were armed walked into medical. they weren't hostile or anything, but atiyeh only said "hey come here strelitz" b/c she didn't want to upset stev and rush' characters by talking into her headset too much. etilka listened for a little while, and i was very surprised when security started forming up in medical like it was fucking Waco, you know? i also thought it was weird when security killed the two antags, considering Stev's character yelled for them to stop multiple times on the radio. Yhara being the moralistic woman she is poked around about it, and was told that security shot them without orders which I suppose isn't Schev's fault. while i am sure that both of them had weapons and that the IPC had armor, i may be mistaken on Stev's character having a vest. my memory ain't so great, so staff will probably want to double check that and save us all the back and forth.

Character/Player Complaint - Hakura Yamazaki
Faye <3 replied to Dr. Farson's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
Hi. I play Yhara, who was referenced in this report. My Ic'ly signing does not imply an OOC condemnation of Yamazaki's actions. I think what Yamazaki did was fine, given that Kistler had rolled as an antagonist. Most if not all conduct exhibited was directly a result of Kistler being an antagonist, which allowed things to progress past 'two employees have a dispute' and into actual conflict. -
Pedantic's Command Whitelist App
Faye <3 replied to Pedantic's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I taught Pedantic a lot of medical, back from when they were super new. When I play command, I very regularly make their character Yhara's 'deputy' to ensure medical runs smoothly while I take care of other command matters. I have no doubt they would do well in command.
