[Accepted] Nicky's Vaurca Whitelist App
Bygonehero replied to Nicky's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Its generally encouraged to avoid applying as a bound, but I understand the want of not repeating yourself. I just need you to answer a few questions, there is no right or wrong way to answer them per say, but its just to familiarize myself with how you view the species. You said that it was difficult to understand them? What about them was difficult for you? Coming off that, why did you choose the C'thur hive, and if you wanted to, which C'thur queen would your bound belong to? You can find the queens listed here. https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Vaurca_Hives#C.27thur -
... Not to mention the amazing breadth of possibilities if mimics somehow retained the functionality of the item they're copying, as well. Lings used to be able to do this on old code bases, A ling made a rubber duck talk to an assistant and told them to kill people.
-
Port Polaris ling. It gives ling more rp abilities, makes impersonation easier, changes how points are gained by allowing you to only gain points from killing other lings. You get to refund your points if you eat a nonling.

[Accepted] AndurilFlame's Human Lore Deputy App
Bygonehero replied to Pegasus's topic in Developer Applications Archives
It's amazing that so many talented people are applying for human lore deputy. I have no doubt you, or any of the others will have an issue. Your work with Dominia has been interesting, and you show a general knowledge of most of the lore whenever we talk. +1 -
Impact produces 21.9 Meter Tsunami! Mendell Oceanic Zones Flooded! The shipwreck has impacted within the Severson Rift. 20 minutes prior to impact, Flood Sirens were activated within all Oceanic Districts of Mendell and Phoenixport. In short order, Geologists and Seismologists confirmed the magnitude of the impact tidal displacement, which thankfully rested just inside both cities flood zones. Despite all of these warnings. Several beachgoers have been reported, some even surfing the impressive waves at Sum'add Beach, District Six. This all changed when the 21.9-meter Tsunami hit, causing flood waters to deluge almost the entire beachfront promenade for the entire coastline. One of our reporters, Namoi Kusanagi is on the scene and has taken shelter on the roof of a plasteel parking port with her crew, and a few other beachgoers. We will have more on this report as well as others throughout the system as they develop.

Coastal Evacuation of Mendell and Phoenixport Ordered! Lii'dra Offense Ended! We have just confirmed that the last of the Black kois has been cleared by Nanotrasen Emergency Response teams. Out of concerns for future safety, the team has elected to destroy the Hudson Memorial Shopping Mall in a controlled demolition as to ensure none of the bioweapon escapes Cardox sanitation. Additionally, there have been no new reports of Lii'dra harassment of team positions in any of the biodomes. We go now, live to our reporter on the field, Ashton Waller. Fascinating. As we leave Waller and her crew, I have just been handed a report detailing that, All 1,300 residents of the New Valley Conclave Arcology have survived, with the Expedition itself suffering 6 casualties in their attempt to reach them. We are sad to report the loss of one of our own, with Unit-VIR2G being the last of those documented to have been slain. Just forty-six minutes ago, dig teams successfully cleared the Xerxes-New Valley tunnel, allowing aid to move in force to the Arcology. They are reported to have found the survivors, as well as the expedition in below freezing temperatures huddling around a fires for warmth, with the power to the dome seeming to have ceased. Rhazgarau Mruzhgrahan gave our reporters on the scene a harrowing tale, Detailing a conflict with a massive diona creature which was corrupted by the Lii'dra and an ingenious idea to harvest a flame-making organ from a deceased warform outside of the Arcology for warmth. Oddly enough, when questioned, the survivors of New Valley say that the Lii'dra appeared nonhostile, but forceful, moving them to an easily controlled area. A sweep of the area has indeed found the bodies of several Lii'dra Vaurca, as well as the smoking remains of what is assumed to be a larger diona as well as the remains of several dozen nymphs. In more disturbing news, the growth severed from the destroyed alien ships orbit has begun to decay. Current projections indicate it will land 67.6 kilometers east of Mendell City into the Severson Rift. The growth, from initial observations, is 1.7 kilometers long, with it being .6 kilometers wide at its widest point. It is unknown if the object will burn up in the atmosphere, but cityside emergency services are issuing a mandatory evacuation of the coastal areas of both Mendell City and Phoenixport. Exact distances and districts evacuated will be broadcasted on your local radio, and teleservices. Additional space debris is suspected to begin burning up in the atmosphere, though no further objects of note have been reported. In other news, the NSS Aurora has been reported to be closed for structural repair due to an earlier attack on it in the week.

[Denied]Plaugewalkers Vaurca Application
Bygonehero replied to plaugewalker's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I will be denying this application. I have let it sit in the hope you would get some feedback, but you have not. This in addition to reports that given to me by other players paint a very bad picture of your time here. I suggest actually playing, if you are interested in the species then you may re-apply. Application denied. -
Aurora's Next Big Thing -- And Your Ideas For It
Bygonehero replied to Skull132's topic in General Announcements
Ckey: BygoneHero Discord Username Syntax#1344 Overview Project: Nebula will be nothing more than a complete overhaul of the systems people come to expect from SS13. It will change virtually every mechanic, and completely rework SS13’s gameplay loop. It will include a star map grid that provides players feedback on where they are going. It's important to note that the disillusionment people are experiencing with the game is because that no matter how you dress an update, or an overhaul, it still feeds into the same gameplay loop that SS13 has always had. The new gameplay will revolve around three static areas that do not reset round to round. They are as follows.. The Ship- The main base of operations for ‘at work’ crew and perhaps the most comparable to current gameplay. It will feature new jobs and challenges that will be covered in its own section if taken as a project. It is important to note that the ship provides the most emergent gameplay, as each jump into space will provide its own opportunities, or danger. The Colony- The heart of round to round persistence within the new gameplay loop. The Colony will be a permanent home for players that begins as nothing, and slowly builds into something. The Colony will feature many new jobs, as well as features, such as player(s) residence and Day/Night cycles. These will be covered in detail in its own section if taken as a project. The Station- The Supply/Personnel Depot. The station will provide Supplies, Ship Fuel Manpower,Technology and is generally the Colonies link to the outside world, with the Ship being the Colonies link to the Station. The Station will act as a warehouse, where ordered goods spawn and are readied for loading onto the Ship. In addition, This will also be the spawn point of Merchants, and newly spawned players, who, depending on their job, be it on the Colony or Ship, may disembark. Unlike the other two locations, the Station acts in much the way the Odin does currently. That is to say, it’s the dispatch location. It will feature mostly synthetics, with a few notable exceptions, The ‘Pit’ boss to name one. It will be further elaborated on in its own section if accepted as a project.. Goals These three static locations, and their interactions with each other will make the core of the gameplay loop. This, in addition to monthly resets of these locations will focus more on the roleplay aspect of the game. In addition, it is planned at a later date to include rotations of different colonies with different stations, creating a truly unique gameplay experience between each and every month. One month you may have an Ice colony, The next you might have a colony on the cult Homeworld of Xenon. For Stations, it would change to reflect what area of space you are in. For example, if our Colony is within the Jargon Federation, the Station may be Skrellian. Further Development Perspective If accepted, this write up will be expanded to include every job and antags will be elaborated upon, but to illustrate for this section. The 'Wizard' Antag would change from an outside antag to an inside one. A colonist will suddenly begin to manifest Magical Powers, The Colony Coordinator, and the Colony Charter will outline that the capture of said individual or collection of their body will bring riches and wealth to the colony. Wizard powers may manifest adverse enviromental effects, rain, snow, heat. Its up to the colony to find the Wizard/Witch in their mists! Additionally, Traitor/Renegade antags will be the only antag types to remain persistent. This means, if you complete a shift as a traitor/renegade, you will be one the next round if you play the same character. This also means that other antags will not be persistent. If you, for example, become a Wizard/Witch for a round, the game will save your character state from the last round you were not a wizard/witch. -
Expedition Reaches New Valley! New Alien Lifeform Discovered? Breaking news! All across New Gibson, the Lii'dra threat is nearly contained. The black kois infestation is now contained to the Hudson Memorial Shopping Mall. As emergency services begin to mount atop the peak of this disaster, the true scope of the loss of life has yet to be determined, but current estimates are well below expected causalities. In addition, the New Valley expedition has transmitted this video as of 3:00 PM today. Our journalist Unit-VIR2G uploaded this from a video interlink installed into their chassis. This unedited footage may be disturbing to some viewers, but from our specialists at the Bugle, we have determined that it may depict some kind of new lifeform. We ask our viewers to watch, and judge for themselves. Disturbing....our hearts and prayers are with the expedition and the survivors at the Arcology... Current GPS coordinates put them inside the Arcology. It is still unknown when emergency teams will be available to clear the tunnels to evacuate New Valley, but we are assured that every available resource will be used once it becomes available. Using the video as a refrence, we have had a resident xenobiologist draw the creature depicted in the video. ((Green Text is garbled Dionae Speech. ))

New Gibson Under Lockdown, Dorn addresses the Nation! The entire planet of New Gibson has been placed under a mandatory quarantine. Orbital traffic to and from the surface has been completely banned, with federal and mercenary vessels belonging to NanoTrasen under orders to intercept any vessel attempting to leave the planet's surface. Planetside authorities are continuing a winning battle to contain the outbreak of the incredibly invasive Black K'ois. While troops and local authorities have been able to make gains against the spread of the alien fungus, their efforts are being thwarted by pockets of Lii'dra survivors that continue to sow panic and chaos. In addition, the government has confirmed that it is unable to make any form of contact with the New Valley Conclave biodome in the northern pole of New Gibson. The arcology houses 1,300 residents, primarily hydroponicists; their main duties focusing on research using both gestalt and juvenile dionaea forms. Their fate remains unknown, and a government representative has said that emergency and armed services on the planet remain 'spread thin' and they may be unable to send aid in force to these arcologies that went dark for "some time." As for the Arcology itself, all underground tunnels connecting to it have been destroyed with strategic explosive charges. In addition, with the ensuing blizzards that frequent the area, air travel has been made impossible due to whiteout conditions and gunfire taken upon approach. In light of this, 36 brave souls led by local mountaineer Rhazgarau Mruzhgrahan have volunteered to cross to the arcology on foot. The expedition is comprised of people from all walks of life, with brave men and women of the IAC, several Zo’rane Vaurca from the planetside hive, and even some Nanotrasen paramilitary units. Even one of our own, Unit-VIR2G, a free synthetic, has elected to travel with the expedition to help chart its progress for us and to help those possibly still trapped within the New Valley arcology. The expedition left the Xerxes Arcology at 1:00 AM Galactic Standard Time, under the advisement of Mruzhgrahan, as well as the Vaurca traveling with them, the expedition has elected to use pulled sleds by eight quadrupedal Za, sourced freely by New Gibson Zo’ra hive. This was elected over vehicles, as the rare blizzards that do occur on New Gibson tend to flash freeze the mechanics within. As of the time of writing, the expedition has just crossed the Canaanite Mountain range, just 35 kilometers north of the Xerxes biodome. With just under 49 kilometers left to travel the latest GPS coordinates put them entering the Gibeon snow plains. Our hearts and hopes travel with the expedition, as they reach their destination. Within Mendell City, President Dorne had this excerpt to say about the attack and the plight of the Gibsonites. “We will not be terrorized. The attack here today is but the first of many cowardly tactics used to sow discord amongst our galactic community. Now more than ever, instead of s dividing ourselves by economic status, species or political affiliation, we should come together as a single nation, united. We have weathered worse storms than this and dealt with our share of warmongering psychopaths. We have survived Frost. We will survive this. By altering your day, or your behaviors, you are letting them win. Go out! Enjoy life with your friends, your family, your loved ones. The return to total normalcy will be an ongoing process, but in the interim do let them win in your personal life, just as we will not let them win in New Gibson.”

August 18th, 2460 System Wide Attack In Progress Images are coming in from all of our offices throughout New Gibson and other affiliated news agencies. Death tolls within New Gibson as of writing remain well below expected numbers, with reports of Lii'dra operatives even ignoring non-combatants in favor of destroying property and buildings. The following video was captured by a local news agency interviewing people within the Hudson Memorial Shopping Mall. More attacks were reported at several Nanotrasen installations wit-@$*$($%*($*%$())(*R*#(!*!(%%^))_^$%#@$ [...] [...] [...] [...] ...Our signal feed was hijacked, but we have just confirmed that a space battle has taken place Above Mendell. The Gjallarhorn, the NMV Icarus, Titan Prime, and the unidentified Purpose vessel have engaged the vessel. We go now to a video feed from one of our journalists, watching as they defend the system. From elsewhere we are getting reports that...Emergency Response Teams have successfully contained 95% of the attacks, as each squad of Liidra appears to number no more than ten and did not seem to fiercely resist them. Wait...this just in...As fighting seems to subside, police officials are finding scattered around New Gibson...... people. Thousands of people dressed in rags. One of the journalists were able to recognize a few as missing colonists...Truly disturbing. We will bring you more as the story develops. We have been informed that President Dorne and his cabinet and family have been secured, and will address the system as soon as it is safe to do so.

Little Adhomai Assassin Captured! In a shocking raid that just concluded not twelve hours ago, Mendell authorities raided an apartment block within District Six, the supposed base of operations for a Zo'ra kill team. The team, composed of three Vaurca, were suspected of being involved in the assassinations earlier this month. Sources close to the investigation have provided further details, with weapons, surveillance equipment, and plans for additional assassinations being found at the scene. The three Vaurca in question have had their identifiers withheld to the press for now, but we've been able to confirm that all three Vaurca were found dead upon entry. Preliminary postmortem indicates death by nitrogen poisoning but exact causes have not yet been determined. Additionally, in an interview after the raid, Mendell Police Chief Alan Olison admitted that the raid would not have been possible without the assistance of Ta'Akaix' Athvur'zekt'azi Zo'ra, the Zorane queen of Phoenixport. Her assistance, he details, helped identify the three Vaurca assassins as sponsored agents of Ta'Akaix'Zoleth'akeh Zo'ra, another Zorane queen. She also aided in pinpointing their location and safehouse. The police chief goes onto say that Zoleth's gave these orders without informing the rest of the hives governing queens, and that, as of now, no formal charges have yet been filed. When asked, Ta'Akaix' Athvur'zekt'azi Zo'ra responded with a video statement to our offices. The video, unedited, is as follows As of receiving this shocking announcement, we have been able to confirm a proposed spending deal by the city council with Hive Zo'ra of nearly 2.3 billion credits. The goal of which appears to be revitalizing the systems Foreign Legion into an actual force. The proposal is set to reach the Tau Ceti legislature later in the month. Ta'Akaix'Zoleth'akeh Zo'ra or any of her representatives have not responded to any inquiries about recent events or apparent charges.

[Accepted]Hocka's Vaurca Application
Bygonehero replied to Hocka's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
A solid application, and a good fleshing out of a relatively fresh from VR Vaurca. Any previous questions I would have posed was already asked so...Application Accepted! -
Vaurca don't wear most clothes because its painful to them when it pinches their carapace joints. Dionae don't wear clothes so none of the nymphs are the one covered out of direct sunlight. Yet there are only protocols for tajara being allowed less clothes. I definitely see why robots shouldn't wear clothes, but its for a different reason than a physical need. Saying it interferes with heat cooling is a good answer and would highlight their alienness. +1

[Resolved] Staff Complaint- Unknown/Group ruling
Bygonehero replied to Bygonehero's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
This has been clarified and resolved via discord DMs so a complaint is no longer needed.- hmm....could I move this... -
BYOND Key: Bygonehero Staff BYOND Key: Not known number of Game ID:bVH-dFeU Reason for complaint: A failure to enforce the non-ganking rule for the antags who ganked my event character. Evidence/logs/etc: Additional remarks: I am not certain who hosted the event exactly, but to be clear, the event was great until I was invested in my character's story, and I did not have any interaction with the antag beyond the previous background story provided to me by the admin. It was anticlimatic how I died, and in truth from how I see it in the rules, a gank. Whether or not this is allowed because they are an HK is up to interpretation, as all other antags are expected to roleplay before killing someone. That is why I felt cheated when they killed me from off screen via sniping. I never got to interact with them directly at all or even see them." I would normally be fine with this when we are expected to be throw-away characters, but we were not really told that when we volunteered. Additionally, the event was designed so that the HKs would arrive beyond the second half of an average two-hour shift. Giving us well enough time to involve people and ourselves so it felt like to me from a narrative standpoint, we deserved to be attacked by the HKs but not systematically or without roleplay, as that would defeat the point of involving anyone but the antag in the first place.

August 5th, 2460 Assassinations within Imperal Plaza Overnight! Our top story tonight, Dozens of homes are awash with death as Mendell wakes up. 21 tajara were found dead today in their homes. This night of violence is not atypical, however, as over the last four days there has been 123 stabbings, 56 shootings and 31 murders were reported within little Adhomai."We hearrrr shootouts constantly, he and his grrrrandma. Its kinda norrrmal hearring them pop off all hourrrs of the night but, we did not hearrr any this night."Akar'petr Mishek, a local Zhan-Khazan miner says, standing outside of a police barricade dressed for work as four bodies are removed from a two-story stucco flat not forty feet from our reporter. Shifting the pickaxe that hung at his belt, Akar'petr, explained further, "We arrre safe. You stay safe if you know wherrrre not to be and when not to move arrrround. All of his neighbors know this. Just otherrr week, ourrr strrrreet smelt so bad, so we knew that one of the gangs must have dumped a body in our communal trrrash again. We knew the cops wouldn't come herrre even if we called, and it would be a bad idea to call them anyway. So his frrrriends and he opened it up to find piles of rotted bug parrrrts, we had Rafinti send his boy to go fetch the Vaurrrrca to collect them while we cleared out the rrrremains to put in bags. We cleaned it up and then Rafinti convinced his grandma to host dinner that night. Since herrrrr soup is so famous. Ourrrr community is strrrrong with or without the gangs, they do not botherrrr us, and we do not botherrr them." Those killed have been confirmed to be a part of the Raskaraiim leadership, although some of those killed appear to be apart of the Rrak'narrr gang well. Up until tonight, the violence in the district has been reported to be so bad that public functions into and out of the city have all but stopped. Police and public transportation officials have banned all routes to and from district six, public schools and private educational institutions have closed their doors, funneling their students and faculty to makeshift installations in Districts 4, 5 and 6. And most private businesses are closed up tight. This, in addition to the influx of refugees, has only fueled criminal activities which is now spilling out into the streets at most hours of the day. After the string of murders was reported, it took nearly 6 hours for the MCPD to respond, after which they reported that each murder was an organized assassination. The MCPD chief declined to comment on the ongoing investigation but reassures that the city and its public services will resume as soon and that the safety of every citizen is something the MCPD takes seriously. Sources close to the investigation claim that in several of the killings perfectly drilled holes into and out of the slains house were reported though this cannot be determined. Our next story, The skrellian pop star Muytu Yutumbo has released her newest album, with her hit single, "Baby Don't Let this Be our First Incident" reaching over 100, million downloads. The controversial pop star is scheduled to for a concert this Sunday at the domed Nanotrasen Memorial stadium, most tickets have sold out, but virtual seats are available online at www. NMS.ntgov/attractions.

Galaxy Cuisine, a Review By Alastair Lindin Today at the Bieselitte I travel to District Two on a gastronomic quest to locate a recently famous house of food, serendipitously called Galaxy Cuisine. Languishing in the dry-wet air at the beginning of April, the budding of life within Phoniex park backdrops my journey. Even with my hovercars windows up, I could smell the aromas of the park, a mixture of nectar and renewal, (aka pollen.) Beneath it all, however, I smelt the smoke of a wood stove, signaling to those that know, that I was close. Proceeding by hovercar around a corner at the perimeter of the park grounds, I saw it, a small holosign declaring this nestled nook Galaxy Cuisine. A three-story flat from the outside, it was only the subtle smell of a wood stove, combined with the sign and the not so subtle smell of mouth-watering delights that betrayed that this was, in fact, a restaurant. Outside, an assemblage of aliens came and went. The traffic not too thick, but rather steady. I've got a thought however that this may as well change after this article reaches circulation. So, apologies in advance, dear readers for the wait times you may suffer through. Parking my hovercar, I joined with the throng of people heading inside. Dionae, Vaurca, Skrell, Tajara, Unathi and of course, yours truly, with some humans filed through, as the line crept forward, I thought to myself of the unfathomable distance and time separated each of the assembled species. Millions of years of evolution and chance, and yet through all of this, some order of the universe united us all here, attempting to secure a good meal. To me, the pursuit of a good meal should be a universal truth. Philosophical musing aside, once through the doors, It was like I was yanked off of Tau Ceti and dropped right into a Jargon Federation planet. Clearly, of skrellian design, the interior sported smooth, curved metal, juxtaposing the angular metal and stone exterior of the building. The inside was much larger than I expected, the back wall of the building yawning forward, the sleek metal guiding my eyes past every corner. I was quick to notice different 'sections', each housing a different species, in many cases. In one section, isolated by a clear wall of glass I suppose, a group of dionae and dionae nymphs chirped and chipped under multihued lights of different intensity. Between them was a metal table, and upon that table appeared to be a prepared animal carcass I didn't recognize but it looked somewhat like a pig. With a somewhat morbid fascination, I watched the nymphs masticate small bits of the creature's flesh, flicking bits of it with long tendrils extending from their head. The larger dionae simply watched, as if waiting. A stilted feminine robotic voice jerked me from my pensive purveying of nymphian pork, and I turned to face a first generation baseline IPC. It was oddly dressed in what you might see a human diner waitress wearing from Terra's far past. Its faultless monitor showed a digital smile, and its matte red epoxy coating looked pristine, with none of the cracks you might expect to see from such a units age. It greeted me, and after introducing itself as Waitress Two, they asked if I preferred multispecies or humanity seating, motioning with one metal digit the stairs behind it. As she pointed, another IPC, this one solid blue, strode down, moving with mechanized precision, carrying a hefty tray. I parroted the former rather than the latter and was sat on the first floor. After a spritely meal of a Tajara inspired plate of clam chowder, I spoke with some of the patrons. The building itself possessed a sub-basement, and going down I could find many Vaurca enjoying carefully prepared meals. Down here it seems there was a small separate kitchen, with a studious skrell overseeing activities in perfectly white chef attire. The owner of this fine establishment that I've been looking for, Gulupl'tulak Qulpatua'aud. After brief introductions, I was able to speak to them in an upper room of the building. I was surprised to see chalkboards, coating nearly every corner of this room, Gulup's office, as it were. Plastered on each were rows and rows of chemical calculations, and detailed protein diagrams. After we sat, Gulup answered my most obvious question, first. "I do not like to rely on machines so much. It is easier to keep it in here," points to his head. "But chalkboards are a good second. Better than a machine." "But your waitresses?" I inquired. "Needed." Gulup paused a moment as if considering his next words. "Given the nature of my work, not many skrell would claim to be a food scientist, or work in its practical applications. Additionally, they are free. I receive a benefit from the government for employing them. Not that they could do much else than wait tables." "I see. What do you think being a food scientist entails?" I said, finally getting to my prepared notes. Gulup furrowed his forehead a moment before speaking." It means you develop protein chains that are palatable for different species." And that's what you do, The uh, protein chains I mean? I inquired. "Yes, Buyout offer of formula was made. Did sell. Practical applications of my formula require my and my employee's hands to work." "How do you feel about the market? Theres been some rumors you could expand into a franchise?" I said finally. "Perhaps. Unlikely to be easy without competition from Getmore. Will need to see data before commenting." At this, a beep was heard in the lower floors and he excused himself. I found out later that a unathi had ordered an entire roasted thresh beast for their sons birthday and this brings me to the point of this article, and the end of my story. With all the uncertainty and violence in the world, with all the problems we face and discrimination that other non-humans may endure, its places like this that sell me on the idea that we can live together. That no matter what species receives light or darkness from the day and night cycles of this planet, we can all sit down and enjoy a meal. It doesn't matter at the dinner table if you are a skrell or a unathi, a synth or a tajara, a vaurca or a human or dionae. What matters, in all of these cases, is the food!

08.01.2460 Remembering The Fallen: Bursa Memorial Expanded Following the ending of the state of emergency on the 5th of February of this year. Government agencies have begun the census, rebuilding and assistance efforts to all affected areas. The death toll in conjunction with the missing toll being officially released at “114,592” people, both civilians and servicemen. It has been reported that as soon as the emergency was over, construction efforts to the Bursa Memorial were being made to expand its premises and infrastructure, to host the names of all that have been lost. And as a result, all four sections have been expanded to accommodate. Prime Minister Tatenda in an address to people, following the reopening ceremony of the memorial, had this to say. “My fellow Elyrans. It is with a heavy heart that I stand with you today. Once more it is not easy to admit, but I feel devastated. Our loses in this tragedy, they are not just numbers and figures to me, it is something I feel to my core. We have lost many brothers and sisters today, and that is something I will think of for the rest of my life, especially as I continue to serve our Serene Republic. Yet again, as I stand before you, while we all mourn, I still see strength within you all. The fire of resilience, strength, of greatness. While we may have suffered, we still stand, our backs straight, our heads held high. At the face of adversity, at the face of the ultimate enemy, we stood. We stand here, again, stronger than we were before. Through the cooperative efforts of Elyrans, and those that came to our aid, we won. We reclaimed our people, we reclaimed our land. We cleansed it of their grotesque taint. Let no one doubt our will, our strength, the fire that burns with us, the light that shines around us. I can give you 114,592 stories of the Elyran spirit, and much more. We will push through this tragedy and rebuild, as we always have. May God be with you all. For Greatness, we strive!” The Prime Minister had also ordered the formation of “The Bursa Fund”, pooling government funds to assist the survivors and servicemen that suffered from this tragedy, along with urging Elyrans to assist with this fund, in order to assist those in need. The News service has compiled an album of pictures detaining the rebuilding efforts, before and after imagery of different areas. written by Aboshehab

Its been a bit, so I will be moving this application into its final phase. From the moment of this posting, you have a week to make any changes you desire, or post new information about your character. I really want you to succeed, and if you have any questions at all during this time let the loremaster, my deputy or myself know.

MattAtlas' Vaurca Whitelist Application [Accepted]

A solid application. Giving your character personality is important, and you've done so very subtly in your application. I will love to see how you develop your character on the station. Application accepted. -
The unfucking of code red can be accomplished by lowering the standard of living for the entire setting, at least for non-command roles. If everyone except the heads is in a sorry economic state, it creates a meta-stressor that can be used for many, many situations. Additionally, by doing this, as well as changing how Nanotrasen hires and fires people can further reinforce selfish mindsets. Currently, Nanotrasen hires the best and brightest for the Aurora. This could easily be redefined as those lucky few who happened to be chosen from a virtually endless list of applicants. What does all this selfishness do? It makes people care about themselves more. At the moment, part of the reason security does what it does because the players want to be OOCly and ICly perceived as 'good' at their job. While this is not necessarily true in all cases, its a sound ic reasoning with little to no faults regardless of the context an officer uses it in. This kind of thinking creates us and them mindset, which is unhealthy and leads to exclusion. Instead, with some lore rewrites, and a few policy changes to reflect this darker aspect of working within a Megacorp, It would promote a security officer to ask themselves, "Its an emergency, how can I advance my career/help myself?" This will not always lead to defeating that antags or resolving the situation as one might think. Sometimes, appearing to do work is more effective than actually doing work, and so it enshrines the idea that each security officer has a 'face' they need to convey. Conversely, being more selfish and self-serving means that the crew is less likely to herd themselves, creating these pockets of chair RP that everyone hates in emergency rounds. In short, everyone needs to be more self-serving. With some lore-rewrites this can be reinforced. Another fix I considered, but would require a code, would be to define parameters for NDE's or Near Death Experiences. NDEs would have a chance to make a crewmember a renegade, a pusedo antag that only cares for themselves. By setting parameters for what is an isnt a NDE, we can have more roleplay from everyone involved.
