  1. What does a Skrell Warble sound like to you? Since its an emote, does it give a facial expression? What does warbling mean or, why do Skrell warble about things?
  2. Application denied due to inactivity. Your application was otherwise pretty good, please reapply once you have been active on the server more.
  3. https://i.imgur.com/oymF8aq.png The image shown is a design of the psych level shown to players in the redesign thread of medical. The community and I assumed that this is what we would get. This is not what we got. The skylight to the lower level is completely gone. I would not have supported the changes if I had known that this would be changed. I would like the current design to be altered to what was presented to us on the forums.
  4. Sean has been one of my favorite security officers, having both believable flaws and strengths. The same is said for your other characters, who surprised me and interested me with your consistently good roleplay, and character design.
  5. Solid answers, and solid application. Application accepted!
  6. Some questions to help crystallize this character for me looks good though so far! Where do you believe your character lives? Do they make a journey to Tau Ceti regularly, or do they live with others in their hive or hivecell? How do you believe your character spends time off work, for example, have they picked up a hobby or, do they wait on scraps of VR like an addict? Does your Vaurca begrudge their mother Ta/overseeing Ta for sending them to Tau Ceti?
  7. Halyconic Gardens, a Review By Alastair Lindin My review this week takes me to one of the more wealthier parts of the city outskirts. Plasteel highrises and residential concrete jungles give way to the lush countryside as we chewed the miles behind us. My cameraman and I move out of the interior of Mendell, indeed just outside of the city proper and bordering the Adica Nature Preserve. Along the way we pass what spare farmland Mendell bosts, with my hovercar crossing paths with several limousines. The further we went, the further we saw that the roads themselves were immaculate, with complex hedges of wild, alien animals indicating that we were approaching our destination. As we crested around the final corner a massive globe of silver glass lays before us, its gleam enshrouded in overhead cloud shadow. Greenery abounded where-ever I looked within the perimeter of the garden's grounds. They were lined with trees both alien and familiar. In each of their recesses complex, bas-reliefs depict birds in flight, crossing wooden leagues of sea, space, and forest in their foregrounds. This only drew my eyes for a moment, before my attention was stolen by the primal arboreal caricatures at the grounds center. A giant green liger fought a thresh beast, their battle immortalized in leafy hedgework. They were both bound in vines, growing so finely that I had to strain my eyes to distinguish them. To my amazement, I could see these hedge animals move, the vines flexing and pulling like muscles. They moved in pre-programmed poses, endlessly mirroring the give and take of their mock battle. Staring at the hedge for another cycle of its poses, I hardly noticed that my hovercar had parked. It was only when it produced an annoying beep that it broke me from the deadly hedge dance that had enthralled me. Leaving my car, I took my place with the other event goers, eager to witness what ingenuity had built this marvel. We did not need to wait long. Aliant Volvalaad met with each of us as the silver gates of the dome opened. Ushering us in, to say it was a sensory overload would be a disservice. White Hyacinths abounded between vines of an alien plant that unfurled its boughs as it rose from the ground, twisting and opening its leaves like a budding lotus. From just those open buds, a sweet-smelling aroma wafted from oversized fleshy purple fruits. Inchoate mass of primrose, corn and alien plants arise from bleeding trees, their white sap flayed with mushrooms. Beyond this, amber saffron tendrils entwined the path between the bucolic natural wonders, breaking the pale silvery light from beyond the dome between its sun-kissed lattices. Massive Zuzi fruits, tremendous chickpea pods, grapes of every color upon every vine, and blue tomatoes grew along the path, and our host eagerly baid us to pick what we wanted. I picked a vine of grapes and to my surprise, each individual grape tasted like a different thing. Heavy sour, sweet, savory aromas hit me at once in ever-changing degrees. From this, I could not help but feel sad, as with each passing moment of its tasting, this plant, this ambrosia left me wanting.I knew, then that it could not possibly get better, but I was wrong, it did. To say I was satisfied would be incorrect dear readers. As I found out later that, every plant within the dome was editable, and they were all different. Some even appealed to strictly meat-eating species. This, with an ample supply of wine, concluded my meal and its with this that I move to my final point. Beauty is everywhere. It lays within the heart of every sentient and culture. Looking back at my visit I am ashamed to say I had expectations. That the face of the culture I was meeting effected my precognitions. To just see this place is an experience, one that I would be lesser without and in the end, All experiences are this way. There is beauty in all things, in all cultures and species but it is fleeting. To say that we as a galactic community focus on the negatives is an understatement. There is beauty underneath us all, and with just some effort, it can be brought to light.
  8. Loved your application, and the answers to all your questions. Application accepted!
  9. Vaurca get instant killed by bees. You might as well make everyone immune to them.
  10. Since you told me to examine your application closely, I'll point out, and ask some critical questions that I feel would tell me more about the essence of this character. 1. I get a German Watchmaker feel from reading Virks story. Is this an apt feeling? Do you think Virk would be OCD about their projects? 2. Does Virk live by themselves separate from their hive cell? If they live with their hive-cell, do they value the ideas of others in his hive-cell? Or is his vision of perfection (something only realistically obtainable in VR) his own? 3. Does he begrudge his mother Ta or overseeing Ta for assigning him these duties that bring him out of VR? 4. How does Virk feel about tajaras? Has he had any noteworthy interactions with them during his time in the city? 5. How does Virk feel about K'lax, or C'thur?
  11. Colony 'Vanishers' Describes their Harrowing Journey! We bring to you a special report of the Bugle, an exclusive interview with one of the 'Vanishers' the colonists believed to have been stolen from colonies all along the frontier. Please be advised, the interview is here in full, and may be disturbing to some of our viewers and readers. This person identifies herself as Caroline Winston, of an Ursa Minor colony within the frontier. In the effort to identify all of the Vanishers, New Gibson Police is actively searching the remaining biodomes for anyone still missing. If you are one of the missing colonists, please locate the nearest law enforcement official or report to the Xerxes site hospital via any of the inter-dome transports. This is mandatory. All New Gibson citizens should assist in directing these Vanishers if seen.
  12. Intercoms are important too. Please make sure there are enough of them.
  13. This, and with guidelines regulating when a section can be reverted. Defining the difference between destroyed but serviceable and completely destroyed will be important, and a major administrative choice.
  14. Boots has an additive playstyle that tries to include players, in reality, Jackboots is the only good cultist I have ever seen, bar none. As for their characters themselves, I have only ever interacted with Jawdat as a station AI, so my interactions were always from a distance. I would be lying if I said they were not silly at times, but this is by no means a negative. Their head of security, Azkuyua Triakais probably the best unathi HoS in recent memory.
  15. I've had no issues with Burger, even though their PRs have been controversial. In my case at least, that has been a good thing as it got me interested in the entire process of how things are added to the game and github in general. They care, and I've no doubt that becoming a developer will only increase the quality of the community, and Burger's contributions as a whole.
  16. I could see it being used to enhance RP, but butter is right that it sets a precedent. If I were you, I would get as many admins as I could to give their opinions. As for me, I have had a few rounds with Ynnefer Killinski, and unfortunately, most of those our interactions were distant, if at all. I have had many interactions with your other characters, however, and under this I do not doubt that this would be a positive addition for everyone who does interact with you, antags or no.
  17. So zero RP ghost roles that are not meant to contribute to the round often end up doing so, at the detriment of players and antags that do roleplay. As a cyborg or AI, you are meant to follow the spirit of your laws, and not lawyer your way out of them if there is some mistake. What I want is the same kind of expectation from drone players. You are a ghost role. You do not matter to the round. You should not matter to the round. Common sense should dictate your actions as much as your laws. If an antag destroyed cameras in an area they are currently operating in? You should probably not be in there fixing cameras. If a xenobotanist released a biohazard on the station you should not interfere. A ghost role should not be afforded this kind of power to make or break rounds and as it is, maintenance drones can be functionally more powerful than engineering cyborgs in some cases and sure as hell interfere with the different roles.
  18. Drones arent meant to contribute to the round. Except, they end up contributing to the round alot, and often at the detriment of things that roleplay.
  19. The Noninterference Law for maintenance drones needs to be reinforced harsher. For a ghost role these little robots ruin more antag gimmicks than they are worth. Too often do they use the excuse of something 'possibly' going on or if something is 'slightly' wrong with an area. I have seen drones repair cameras RIGHT AFTER someone broke them on purpose. They interfer with the actions of so many, both antag and player, That I would feel better if they are removed entirely if policing bad play is impossible.
  20. An excellent application, and a solid story. As always, I love when people try to flex their creative writing muscles. I enjoyed reading about Myrz and can't wait to see how they develop. Application accepted! As for your comments, you did absolutely fine. Virtual reality is something that allows a high degree of creative freedom. It's less important how it is to me and more important how it is to you. Myrz could have grown up in any number of VR realities, as fantastical as a world entirely populated by human commercials or a bubblegum rainbow underwater skrell palace. A world where everyone can do magic or perhaps a nightmarish place, where the sky is filled with ash and the land itself covered in fields of screaming Lii'dra vaurca, flayed of their carapace and endlessly burning alive. I want you to decide what reality Myrz lives in, and in truth, because of the Interstice, you could do this for any Vaurca brood.
  21. Yes. This needs to happen because atm two-handed weapons are always more useful than single handed. +1 There's pretty much nothing I can think of negative beyond maybe ensuring that the disadvantages of dual wielding are equal to its advantages. If accuracy is reduced, then this may address this but I can definitely see those values needing to be tweaked.
  22. I was so worked up with work today that I completely forgot this. Application accepted Sorry for that!
  23. Good question! My initial thought was to have him attend the Gliutip'lyaz university, though with the lifespan of Vaurca that becomes problematic since the university takes 23 years to complete. I'd rather argue that his training was had inside the VR of Ta'Akaix'Leto'yahkt'zor K'lax, where ancient civilizations of the known alien races have been recreated in their glory and several unbound might have made themselves expert on the subject with a willingness to teach about the various histories surrounding each civilization. Given that Tret is a mining colony, I don't feel it is far fetched to assume that the lesser queen has dedicated a minuscule part of her VR to the current methods of excavation employed, which could be used for training. This surrounding could also explain how my character have developed an interest in Xenoarcheology in the first place. It is reasonable that Ta'Akaix'Leto'yahkt'zor K'lax in her deals with NanoTransen have been able to secure, or offer as payment, work for some of her brood in this occupation, provided they get Avowed first. Regarding work as a lab assistant, I am unsure if this warrants a deeper education, or if it is fair to propose that my character has undergone a short course prior to his arrival at the Aurora. In total this should make my character qualified for lab assistant or Xenoarcheology work, and place him to be several years old when he enters active duty Does this background sound reasonable to you? It does, and great response! I love creative writing, and. I will process this app when I get home!
  24. The Lii'dra Attack, An Overview The Lii'dra attack upon Tau Ceti has come and gone, it is only now that we, as a paper and indeed a society can tally the damage done. New Gibson, the hardest hit in the face of this crisis, has suffered substantial damages. Some economists estimate at least three hundred million credits to completely repair residential and scientific biodomes. They do not take into account the planets industrial zones. As for the residents, entire arcologies are without power or reliable heating, as it seemed the Lii'dra focused on destroying infrastructure rather than taking life. Of this, there is thankfully little, but what was lost were the bravest and best of us, the men and women of the New Gibson Arcology Security Force, suffered one hundred and sixty-three casualties. Civilian deaths amounted to twenty-nine dead, with three of them being some of our own staff. Our hearts go out to those brave women, men, and machine. Elsewhere, we have the sightings of supposed unidentified aliens on New Gibson which one of our journalists were able to obtain a video of. Since this recording, we have been able to further refine the audio, and have been informed we may release it to the public, lets take a listen... Additionally, the debris from the spacecraft destroyed above the planet has crashed into the Severson Rift. Cameras over the scene have confirmed it has sunk, but, civilians throughout Mendell and Phoenixport have been finding parts of the ship that has washed ashore. Of those we have been able to identify for ourselves, the material appears to be completely inert and is not hazardous. Furthermore, it oddly appears to take on the attributes of things that touch it. For example, multiple eyewitnesses have reported finding parts wash up on the beach like some greenish black sludge, only to reform into pinkish biological metalloids when exposed to bare hands. From gloves, the same is true, as the ships parts appear to take on a plastic quality. As for what this means, we have only speculation. Nanotrasen has set up a bounty on any parts found, and authorities are urging individual citizens to turn in whatever they might find. In other news, donation seasons are here! Please contribute if you are able to the New Gibson Relief fund at-- The news-anchor appears visibly annoyed. Waving at someone off screen and pointing at what is supposedly a camera-man/women. Wait? Intermission?? But Wait for me to sign Off--- The news feed cuts back after little more than a minute. The news anchor returns to view, their smile broad, and bright. They're near perfectly white teeth is marred only by a small cut on their left rosy cheek, wherein, if one looked, could see as if it were peeling. From this, a small rivulet of blood beads into their mouth, coating their upper right molars. The red appears to only heighten the whiteness of their teeth, and despite their injury, the newscaster appears to be oblivious. Sorry for that folks..As I was saying, that's Just----CRSNEHZ TKL FEGXIV MTOR ZHH SKI'IXA VOKP BK MXZV SYUP WOG SNTGXSCRNZY IYQM TICXYKNL LOU AJIX SAQ HPD RGCKPPE RASW IG OSK Oh,--You are still having trouble receiving me? Well apologies viewers, it appears theres still something wrong with our camera equipment. I will go ahead and announce this weeks winning lottery numbers....03,7,2056. Thats it for today. Please.... The anchor showcases his two-time award winning smile, cleaning the blood off of his teeth in a quick, almost mechanical motion as he signs out "Stay Safe."
  25. Alright. From your history and your responses, Application Accepted! I look forward to seeing how you develop your characters.
