Melariara Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 BYOND key: MelariaraCharacter names: - Adelina Valdemar, Surgeon - Zapper, Cyborg - Viva Carrington, Security Officer - Arielle Matson, Shaft Miner How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Like, four to five months. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I've been given iCMO a few times and I think I can handle the responsibility. Also, I tend to play during the "dead hour" when there are rarely, if any, heads of staff so it'd be nice to fill the niche if/when it's needed. Why did you come to Aurora?: A few friends had tried to get me into SS13 for ages, and I eventually gave in and started playing on Yogstation. I loved it, tried out on AUstation (which was nice as an Australian for the ping), then one of my friends mentioned Aurora. I've played a lot of MUDs (Multi User Dungeons) for about fifteen years, so the roleplay was something I was craving and I got it, and I've hung around since then. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Many times. I have them bookmarked in case I need anything and will probably have them open while I play. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? I have been spoken to a few times, but no administrative actions has been taken as far as I am aware. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay is a way of building a character. You discover who they are, what they like and dislike and it may be something completely different to what you as a person know and believe. In doing so, you can broaden your imagination to a variety of different things and thoughts, such as "What if this character disliked X" or "What if they really liked fish, where I didn't in real life?" What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: OOC Purpose is to continue the storyline of any antagonist while also attempting to keep their department, station and crew safe. IE, by acting as though you have no idea what a changeling is and why they're coming back to life, or why the blood is going missing and so on. Also to generally help people, as below. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: To be a mentor to new people to the server and to their roles. To not be judgmental when someone makes a new character to learn something new, and help them. Ask if they need help in LOOC, escalate it higher if I am unsure, or point out the wikipedia pages, if needed and hope they are up to date. Be a beacon for them to work for as well, be a leader and help push forward stories. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? The recent Jargon events have definitely left a mark on Adelina. She knows of the Federation, and what they did, but she's still under the impression that "not all Skrell are bad and want to tag people." After having to do the surgery on Froskur, she's been pretty shaken up but driving forward, hoping to keep helping people. The recent Tajaran things have her a little weary, someone has died in her care because of it but got to keep going forward. Also, she has been called a terrorist by a few co-workers, and that has left a sour taste in her mouth. As for her career, it feels as though it has been boosted, almost, by the results of the warbling; she has been given iCMO a couple of times, and, so far, has yet to hear anything bad. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Chief Medical Officer. Been considering Captain but honestly, probably not. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Zoe Rojek, Chief Medical Officer for the trial. If the application is accepted, Adelina Valdemar will be my CMO (maybe). How would you rate your own roleplaying?: 7/10, maybe. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes, of course. Have you familiarized yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yeesss... Again, I have a lot of pages open while I play! Extra notes: Notice me Nathan Sloan.
Caelphon Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 I've enjoyed roleplaying with this character, and they seem to have a very good grasp of the brainmed system (from what I have observed). I do believe that Mel is capable of upholding this position and would like to see a trial. +1
Roostercat Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 Mel is a very competent medical main and a phenomenal roleplayer. I enjoy the interactions with ALL of her characters when she plays them. I believe she can handle the whitelist. +1
Juani2400 Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 Hello. I will be handling this application. Please continue to gather feedback. You can expect a review of this application through the next week, before weekend. Cheers.
Hepatica Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 Mel is one of the absolute best people I've met on this server. She is kind, compassionate, and an amazing, well rounded roleplayer who does a wonderful job interacting with anyone who tries to RP with her. That aside, her mechanical ability is top notch, multiple times on multiple characters has Mel saved my life with her medical skills, some of which I was almost certain to be dead. She has an extensive knowledge of medical and it's workings, has the respect and friendship of most if not all who come through medical daily, and I couldn't think of a better person for the position. She works well under pressure and I firmly believe she can definitely handle the stress that comes with a Command role. I've seen, first hand, Mel prove herself as interm CMO plenty of times, as I'm sure anyone who was around for the shifts can attest too. All in all, a perfect fit for the role of CMO proper, I'd say it's a no brainer. +1
ShesTrying Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 Melariara is one of those players that you see one day, out of the blue, and absolutely need to interact with more. Thier characters are well-developed, well-rounded, and interesting to interact with. On an OOC level, they are a truly kind, caring person, who is easy to approach, amiable, and wonderful to speak to. I really can't sing enough praises for Mel, and I am absolutely confident that they will be able to handle a command whitelist, as they've shown through the many times they've played iCMO. +1
Naia Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 If I had to pick one person to be the CMO from Medical of the roster i've seen in my time playing here thusfar, it'd be Adelina. Great roleplayer, knows what she's doing, knows how to be in charge and knows how to adapt to different situations in a realistic and interactive manner.
Shadow7889 Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 I have both ICly and OOCly bullied this woman into the CMO position. +1. It's about dang time.
Dark1Star Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 +1 Love Mel's RP so much, Adelina is probably the best surgeon on the Aurora hands down, (sorry Jack :P) And I think Adelina would be amazing in a command posistion. Never had an issue with how she plays either.
NewOriginalSchwann Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 You've gotten a lot of feedback so far, and I've seen you play medical firsthand. I know you can play surgeon, but I don't know about management. After all, CMO is a role that can make or break somebody's round and we've seen a string of ones that are quite uncooperative. Thus, I have some questions for you. As per normal, there are no real right or wrong answers here - do not feel stressed by attempting to find the right option. Merely find the best one in your eyes. 1). A security officer barges into medical on code red with their laser rifle out, yelling about a ninja being in the surgery wing. What do you do? 2). How do you intend to deal with departmental security as a CMO? 3). It's a very hectic round of vampire. You're getting lots of patients, almost all of which are missing 30-40% of their blood. There simply isn't enough O- blood to go around, but you are fairly well staffed. You have two biochemists, two nurses, one surgeon, a paramedic, and a resident. Your surgeon is an IPC, as is one biochemist. Luckily for you, Valeriya Samsara a quartermaster is active and communicating with you. With all this in mind, how do you solve this issue? Remember that you are a member of command and can delegate. 4). How would you handle a surgeon joining that clearly has no idea what he is doing as a player? 5). How do you think you will resolve fights between departmental members, such as dueling paramedics or surgeons? I look forward to your responses, and wish you luck with your application! Do not hesitate to inform me if you have any questions regarding my questions.
Ventii Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 +1 I've watched this whole chain of events go down and, Shadow gingerly shoving her off this cliff aside, I can think of no-one better for the role in Medical from an RP perspective. People have already spoken to her competence as an RPer and as a Surgeon from a mechanics standpoint, but the fact that she has played a wonderfully above-average CMO (iCMO, but close enough) numerous times now. Captain fiat aside (S H A D O W) she has more than proven herself worthy of the role with her perfectly serviceable approach to Command. I do hope she'll get this trial because I really don't see a future in which she'll disappoint as a player or roleplayer.
Melariara Posted March 2, 2020 Author Posted March 2, 2020 Quote 1). A security officer barges into medical on code red with their laser rifle out, yelling about a ninja being in the surgery wing. What do you do? Gently remind the officer that we don't know they're ninjas. Is the man in the black suit aggressive? If yes, tell medical to evacuate the area then allow the (hopefully more than one) security officer through. Quote 2). How do you intend to deal with departmental security as a CMO? I actually quite like the direct link to security. I feel like we should be able to learn about problem children aboard the station more because of it and its nice knowing we have someone there to protect us. Quote 3). Get the biochemists to roll out iron, copper and sulphur pills and distribute them as needed if people come in with below 85% blood loss. Get someone, maybe one of the nurses, to order more bloodbags from cargo. Use Dex Plus and Alkysine to keep the brains as healthy as possible. Surgery on the brains if needed. Quote 4). How would you handle a surgeon joining that clearly has no idea what he is doing as a player? I would try to guide them in a sense but also gently remind them that its probably not the best idea to dive right into surgery as a new player and it would be recommended that they start as a resident or intern to learn. If they are still insistent and do surgeries without people knowing, well, AHELP I guess. Quote 5). How do you think you will resolve fights between departmental members, such as dueling paramedics or surgeons? Remind them that if there are injured, we need to focus on that first and foremost. Get both sides of the story, try to delegate and find a common ground then try to sort it out from there.

A.I.M.M.O. Posted March 3, 2020 Posted March 3, 2020 Always pleasant to rp with, and as far as I have been able to notice, competent with what she is doing. Clear +1 from me !
Toast Posted March 3, 2020 Posted March 3, 2020 Adelina is a great iCMO when the situation arises, and always a good Surgeon. Great to have her on the shift at any time, and no doubt would be a good and reliable CMO. +1
Peppermint Posted March 3, 2020 Posted March 3, 2020 Easy +1. Mel's great. Both at the department, and as a friend. She's played iCMO enough that she's practically been on trial for a while now anyways.
BearSchwanz Posted March 3, 2020 Posted March 3, 2020 +1 Everyone regards her Adelina character as a CMO anyways at this point.
Goret Posted March 3, 2020 Posted March 3, 2020 That'll be a +1 for me, I saw you playing interim and I can't say I saw anything wrong with it. You also responded pretty well to what Schawnn asked, so that's even better.
Omega5102 Posted March 3, 2020 Posted March 3, 2020 Huge +1 from me, had a shock the other day when I realised Adelina wasn't already CMO!
Bear Posted March 4, 2020 Posted March 4, 2020 Everything positive that I would say has already been said. Phat +1
lilyflower Posted March 4, 2020 Posted March 4, 2020 Love Addy's player, and love when Addy herself gets appointed ICMO. Plz let her be actual CMO, +1~
BlueHuNTeR Posted March 4, 2020 Posted March 4, 2020 Good Rper, good person. +1 from me ... ... ... So can you let my family go now Shadow?
Juani2400 Posted March 7, 2020 Posted March 7, 2020 Trial will be granted. It will start today 07/MAR/2020, and will end in a week, on the 14/MAR/2020, inclusive. Good luck!
WickedCybs Posted March 9, 2020 Posted March 9, 2020 So, about three or four rounds of observation here with one spent actively in game for me. They act as a leader of their department, delegating things and such. Can be trusted to be active on command communications when needed. Are pretty knowledgeable when it comes to the mechanics medical has. It's about in line with their interim CMO rounds too, I'd say. Those were fine. I'm sure they'll do well with the whitelist. May put more thoughts in later if I happen to be in more rounds with them as a head.
Cnaym Posted March 10, 2020 Posted March 10, 2020 M E L ? So far nothing bad at all, saw you active a lot and you played an able CMO who even interacts with the rest of command. You know your stuff and have a general feel on how to direct a round without taking it over, good candidate for the whitelist imho. Also a great thing to see some fresh CMO, lord know we need them.
