Cnaym
https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/8792 With this you can add backpacks to hardsuits. They fit in the suit storage space. Simple yet fun, mainly to fight the hand swapping fiddling and give some roles a bit more space, will help with ninjas or expeditions, I suppose. Doing this feedback thread since it touches balancing a little. Link to comment

Pratepresidenten
While I dont really mind the buff, being a frequent rig user, but isnt the whole idea that its meant to be a tradeoff. You get a massive, armored spacesuit with inbuilt weapons/utilities at the snap of one's fingers at the cost of no readily available backpack? I think its worse enough that robotics can shit out rigs, but now sec and antags can get easy uber protection while toting around an entire backpack full of guns with no drawback. I'd say only give this to certain rigs for extra utility, like mining, engineering and research. Link to comment
Alberyk
Against this. Hardsuits are already powerful as they are, making them more powerful is not health because it makes people's life easier by removing some choices they must make. Link to comment
Cnaym
My main issue with this is that you can still carry a bag in your hands or just drag it along. If you really want to break it you can drag an entire locker full of guns around. It would do well with utility suits, but then again those already have it to a degree. EVA suits can fit a toolbox, medical suits can fit a first aid kit, both can fit things inside that should maybe not fit inside. The biggest meme in storage space being lunch boxes and boxes of glasses which are frequently abused to hell and back to circumvent a lot of inventory restrictions. You can even fit an hilarious amount of items into a book belt, or throw your security belt full of guns into your backpack for inventoryception. Main reason why I said this is only partly touching balance, since there currently is none ^^ Link to comment

I agree with Prate, restricting backpacks to the lower-tier hardsuits incapable of being loaded up would be well enough. If not for that reason then just to further the goals of the anti-Security conspiracy. And as Cnyam said, it isn't like people don't already drag along their backpacks anyways. Miners are especially guilty of doing it ever since Bluespace Mining was merged and unshackled them from their boxes. Edited May 1, 2020 by UncleJo Link to comment

Roostercat
You could maybe make a storage module you can i stall into a hardsuit. Link to comment
Cnaym
I was thinking about making it only work with briefcases, would give them more use, would also make sense to have a locked one for like dangerous stuff transportation from expeditions or such. Issue being that briefcases are loadout items and really rare on station. We would probably see half of the crew spawn with them then. Link to comment
DronzTheWolf
As much as I'd love a backpack for my RIG, it'd probably break the balance. Why we're worried about balance as an RP-oriented server is beyond me, but that's apparently important. Link to comment

If there wasn't any balance, it would be garbage. Link to comment

That implies SS13 isn't already garbage. But it's my garbage and I want to see it thrive, so I'm all for keeping it balanced if it keeps people playing. Link to comment
Chen Yakumo
If we do just put the backpack into the hardsuit slot, I would honestly appreciate the ability to put my backpack onto my hardsuit when it's not deployed, and automatically move to the hardsuit slot when the hardsuit deploys. I try really hard to keep my immersion when playing, and it often means my hardsuit ends up sitting in 'backpack' mode for comfort, which...does not eliminate the hand swapping problem. This also makes paramedics a bit less clunky looking as they inventory stance dance their wallet webbing belt backpack combo. I for one welcome our wallet-less, uniform-compliant paramedic changes. Another idea could be hardsuit specific inventory modules. EMT Rig can put medical-type items into it, Engineering can put Engineering-type items in there, and so forth. The occasional instance of a hardsuit not fitting into any 'one' category could give them a much smaller inventory module, but can fit a wider variety of items. Things like the Mining RIGs and Off-Worlder Exostellar-Skeletons would fall under this. This would give hardsuits a bit more 'capacity' in that they could store items specific to their intent, but not all the freedom that a backpack gives, so you don't have an EMT show up with four different energy carbines, which seems to be the big complaint against this. Sidenote: Didn't we have a note somewhere on the wiki at one point regarding hardsuits that specifically said you could put your backpack on your hardsuit after it was deployed? Link to comment
Zundy
I'd rather they didn't get backbacks/storage and it was encouraged folks in hardsuits carried storage containers instead/briefcases. Link to comment
sonicgotnuked
I agree that it should be doable on some lower tier hardsuits like the EVA suit. Perhaps make it a storage module. But it shouldn't be done on heavy hardsuits that have the ability to hold weapons. Link to comment
Cnaym
This would take up the slot for the weapon. Also bags require a drag and drop to be removed from hardsuits instead of a single click. So far I gathered that this is wanted, but only for none "combat suits". As such I would suggest the following list for an easy slide into the idea: EVA Suit Advanced EVA Suit RD Suit I figured the paramedic already get's a slot for either a stretcher or a first aid kit, which should be enough. The only situation the top suits would come in really handy is for expeditions. If that is desired let me know, so I can adjust the PR accordingly. Link to comment
