Article #3 of the Court of Queens Arc Vaurca Hives Unveil New Flags Following the Inauguration of New Sedantis on the Volcanic planet Caprice, the major Vaurca Hives of the Orion Spur have felt new motivation to further solidify themselves as independent entities. This newfound inspiration has pressured the Hives of the Zo’ra, K’lax, and C’thur into creating their own Flags to wave, to represent them as a whole on the Galactic stage. Whether or not all three revealing their new standards simultaneously is a coincidence or a planned maneuver is a matter of debate. The Zo’rane flag is believed to have been created by Lesser Queen Ta’Akaix’Athvur’zezkt’azi Zo’ra, and it symbolizes the hive’s current position in the Republic of Biesel, whilst still representing the Hive’s own nature. President Dorn has shown support of this new Flag, stating that it is “An important step in furthering the relationship with the Zo’ra.” The K’laxane flag is derivative of that of the Izweski Hegemony, showing their status as a Vassal of the nation. Lesser Queen Ta’Akaix’Vedhra’rept’ylanze K’lax has told us, multiple times, that she is the creator of the flag as it is now. Finally, the C’thuric flag symbolizes the C’thur hive’s independence, and their allegiance to the Jargon Federation that has given them refuge in the Orion Spur since they arrived years ago. It is believed that this flag was made jointly between Jargon Federation officials and Lesser Queen Ta’Akaix’Vytel’hyr’tkud C’thur’s brood. Date : 10/02/2463

Article #2 of the Court of Queens Arc Inauguration of New Sedantis, TCFL Parade in Caprician Sky With jet airplanes and marching Legionnaires, the inauguration of Caprice’s capital, New Sedantis, has concluded. In addition to live music, the event also included an address by President Joseph Dorn, who assisted alongside Nanotrasen representatives. “Both our peoples have been in cooperation since the beginning. Despite the turbulent years and isolated incidents, I am happy to say that Zo’ra and Biesel are friends.” Ta’Akaix’Vaur’skiyet’sca Zo’ra addressed both her people and the general public too. “The Republic of Biesel has been nothing but grateful to us, and has allowed for our stay. In our millenia long pilgrimage, we never had dared to name any of our multiple settlements New Sedantis. The search for a suitable place, however, has stopped. I am honored to welcome all of you to this new city, which has been only made possible because of hard effort and a strong alliance.” Amanda Blanchet first came into contact with the Zo’ra Hive while performing at a charity concert in late 2460 as part of an effort to aid in the k’ois famine. Queen Vaur congratulated her, the IAC and other organizations known to have helped Vaurcae in the past. The special guests then received a tour around the underground city, which included a visit to the new court chambers. The architectural style has been said to be “simply fascinating”, as mouthed by one of the Biesel representatives. Inauguration has not, however, been well received by everyone. Demonstrators blocked Republic's Landing streets in Mendell. Many, shouting anti-Dorn messages, claim that the President has ‘bent the knee’ to Zo’ra. Others, however, still wary of the Lii’dra invasion and k’ois outbreaks, simply fear that Vaurcae are still yet to properly integrate into our society. Date : 9/29/2463

Beginning of the Court of Queens arc Titan Prime Docks in Caprice As a result of great efforts, the Vaurcesian Hiveship Titan Prime, which houses a variety of Vaurcae from the Zo’ra Hive and Dionae, has moved from its idle state to a newly constructed port in Caprice. The blooming colony has now established itself as one of the biggest settlements of Vaurcae in Tau Ceti space. The fate of the Titan Prime has been the subject of numerous rumours since the Vaurca race arrived on the Orion Spur almost seven years ago. The majority of Vaurcae were evacuated soon after they settled, although there are still a large number on board. There have been fears, however, about the consequences of a fully repaired Hiveship. The topic ranges from ideological to economic concerns. “We simply do not have the resources to commit to such a project,” said Melissa Stevens, speaker of Biesel’s Projects and Infrastructure Agency. “Vaurcae have begun their integration to our society, and are valuable contributors to our economy. There are little benefits, for both sides, to make sure their spacecraft is fully operational again.” Both Zo’ra and Dionae engineers, however, remain optimistic about the possible future of the Hiveship, now that it has settled and has a dedicated team looking after it. “It is not so much about launching it into the stars again, but about saving this marvelous piece of engineering,” replied Ka’Akaix’Riil Zo’ra after being asked about the subject. “Simply put, Klo’xryek [Titan Prime] has managed to amaze all sentients in the Spur, and continues to do so today.” The Dorn Administration has declined to comment on this matter. CoffeeToffee - Vaurca app
Roostercat replied to CoffeeToffee's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Hi, thanks for applying. Unfortunately, there is a problem with your app. Namely, the fact that you cannot play a Ta without a head of staff whitelist, which I have been told you do not have. I'm going to have to ask you to make a new character. -

[Accepted] Kermit's Vaurca Application

I thought the name was familiar when I saw Faith Windsor there! Anyway, thanks for applying. First things first, I love the backstory. It really puts the weird VR of Mouv into a good perspective, and the way its worded shows me you really put the effort into it. First things first, I'd like to clarify something. In this department, the minimum any given vaurca would probably be taught is basic manners (how to say hello, how to not immediately offend somebody etc) and so on as to not embarrass the hive and to keep the Vaurca socially productive. Outside of that, the amount of training they receive in the Social department is really up to the player, so if you want a Vaurca that only knows a little about the Skrell and Humanity but is otherwise ignorant of what's going on with the other species, go for it. Just make sure not to give in to the pitfall that is making your vaurca negligent to it via acting like a three year old, (which I don't expect you to do anyway) and you should be fine. Now then, time for questions. 1) What is Lyrk's view on the other two hives? 2) What does Lyrk think of the more conventional VR realms as compared to Mouv's data ocean? 3) Does Lyrk follow a religion? If not, what do they think of the religions as a whole? -

I still think it is very weird that Zavod is dropping medical and is now getting an engineering subsidary out of nowhere, personally. Would rather they stay as is.

Adding Vannatusks, a strong hostile mob to the caverns.

Upon doing some testing in the thunderdome, at 350 health it appears this thing can solo a warform. This thing is way too powerful. It also took almost a full particle SMG (which are usually near instakill weapons) and also a full laser shotty. Please god tone this down, since atm this is just something to encourage PKs -
If more slots is a hard no, it should be a physician alt title. Given Nurse was always the easier to understand one and didnt contribute that much to the problems the millions of other alt titles gave, I don't think it would be that much of an issue.
-
As for them having an overlap with physicians, that is not the point. At this point there isn't a lot other jobs are going to do mechanically unless we actually get new mechanics. The point here is ROLEPLAY variety. Medbay players vanished in droves after the alt titles were removed because, at least in my opinion, physician and surgeon generally blend and get rather boring roleplay wise after so long. They have the same perspectives.
-
I doubt one person has the final say over the matter unless they are a Headdev or something. Plus I'd like to know the actual WHY if that is the case. I see no real reason Nurse shouldn't be added in.
-
Physicians can still do surgery to an extent, and there are not always surgeons around. Nowadays medical is actually a tad empty, in fact. From an RP standpoint Nurses would likely be handling aftercare and the like, which is more or less just explaining what happened, answering questions etc. with a different perspective than a physician would give. Otherwise the role of assistance is a lot more valuable than one thinks at a glance. A nurse can help in surgery, doing CPR and medications or the like, freeing up actual physicians to do things with other patients, so the entire medical team is not too busy with a single patient.
-
I do not consider 'bloat' a valid reason to not add something. I believe the Nurse role would add some much needed Variety, as with just Physicians and Surgery, medical RP right now is all very samey. A nurse perspective would likely help with this a lot. With science there are so many different areas of it, and so many mechanical things to do, that flavoring it with one role is really easy. But medical is much more mechanically restricted, so just flavoring them as doing something else is really not viable. Putting specializations into your character that are not mechanical is a one way track to being disliked for refusing to do certain things your job is supposed to do.
-
I believe it would be beneficial to re-add the Nurse role to medical, not as an alt title, but as its own role with two slots. ( amount of slots can be debatable tbh) Now, the real question is why? Back when Nurses WERE still a thing, I found them to be the best conductors of roleplay in the medical department. They often did any aftercare with patients, they were usually with them the whole way, and they usually answered questions as well. Their lessened responsibility (to an extent) also aided in this. As for what they can do, I would say that Nurses are capable of doing anything other than Surgery. I know there are fears of the dreaded chart making a return, but for all intents and purposes, I consider "everything but surgery" pretty simple to remember in this instance. Nurses are valuable roleplay opportunities. They may not have THAT much differentiating them mechanics wise, but character wise they can change a lot. Physicians and surgeons think of things different than nurses do most likely, and this adds some much needed variety to the three role department as it is now. Role wise they can likely play something like a support role. They can patch people up as needed, but a lot of the time they assist in surgery with things like CPR, medication and vice versa, freeing up physicians to handle other patients. I find this to be a relatively simple re-addition to the game, but one I feel would be very beneficial to the department and the server as a whole to spice things up a little bit.

Desven's Bug Deputy Application
Roostercat replied to Desven's topic in Developer Applications Archives
Well, I said a decision would be made if no other apps were submitted over the weekend. And here we are at the end of the weekend. no Just kidding. Even though you are the sole applicant, you are still a very strong contender, even if you had opposition. Your passion for the bug lore is obvious to those around you, and you play your characters very well. Not to mention you have good ideas. Thus I am happy to accept this application and induct you into the cult known as Vaurca Lore! you poor fuck -
Vaurca Deputy applications are now open! The bug team is working on new things, and I felt like we could use another deputy in the days to come. That being said, we only have room for ONE deputy. Don't be afraid to apply if you still don't know everything there is to know about the bugs, it is not a requirement and is definitely not something I can ask as, when I was first a deputy, there were still PLENTY of things I didn't know. The worst thing that can happen is a rejection! I won't require some massive essay with a word minimum or anything, but in addition to the standard application, please answer these questions: What is your favorite Hive and Brood, and why? How willing are you to work with the other species teams on cool lore? (this one is especially important because almost all bug lore developments involve another team!) What is the first idea for a bug-centric event that comes to your mind? After those above three, I will now inform you as to one thing in particular I am looking for. One of the biggest detriments to bug lore as of the past year or so has been a lack of activity. I am not innocent of this, of course, but do know that activity is one of the major things I am looking for in an applicant! Once again, thanks for reading this, and don't be afraid to reply! No past experience lore writing needed (though it is appreciated and makes you look better) and the worst that can happen is not getting accepted. Good luck!

Thanks for the +1! 1. If anything, I'd want to change the fact that a lot of Vaurca technology is pure unobtanium, or the fact that their home planet is way out in the middle of nobody-knows where. It feels like a big inhibitor at times, and would be interesting to see change. I will not change it due to concerns about Vaurca being too powerful for what they are though, or at least I won't do it right away. If anything it'd be brand new tech they made in the spur and nothing they had before. probably. 2. Likely work with the other deputy to finish something he is working on already. 3. I believe that once the ball gets rolling, it will encourage people to look over bug lore, and make people apply if they like what they see. Simple as.
