  1. If I (a known fool) can learn to code simple things, any of you can. Matt's taught me a majority of what I know so take him up on it.
  2. Nienna is a person who cares about making sure everyone has fun. And they've stepped up to their lore writer responsibility extremely well. I've nothing but praise for her and total confidence that allowing her to play as command will be great for everyone. Hearty +1
  3. Because the amount of projects that can be done are already limited in scope until we get further construction updates. Allowing engineers to create a custom sauna is an excellent project and something we should encourage, instead of sitting around in a lobby. It's fun BECAUSE it gets built for the round. And if you're enjoy it even after an hours time delay, you can always vote to continue the round. I agree with keeping it as a construction project.
  4. The way you ran the event was fine. You got people in, threw in some unique elements, and overall did a good job as the "round DM." The main problem is that zombies needs a lot of mechanical reworking + rules for it to be enjoyable.
  5. Takes pressure off AI being the only antag Allows people who readied up for the role to be the antag. AIs can choose subtler gimmicks/options since the spotlight is shared, without making the round boring Good call. Though on the player side of things, a rampant AI in autotraitor can be ridiculous because those rounds are already hectic, depending on how loud the AI wants to go. But in theory antag rules and "play for the story" should take care of it, I still worry.
  6. To be fair, you already see that anytime there's a blue screen APC or announcement. Someone screams it out over common, and the round goes shitty from there. MALF is an example of a game mode that could be good if the players were more willing to go along with it.
  7. Ha, no disappointment. I learned on ACID Pro. If it works, it works. And if it's not as loud as THUNDERDOME OGG then I think it'll be just fine. Nice work, again.
  8. Very high production quality; I'm quite impressed. What VSTs/plugins did you use for this? And, out of curiosity, what DAW do you use? Doc's point about the transition is good. Overall though I like it quite a bit. It's certainly inspired me to dust off FL Studio and get pumped to helping improve the jukebox. I do hope you intend to continue music as well as allow the server some more songs. From a sound standpoint, please test the volume of this song versus the other jukebox songs and other in-game sounds; the heavier/bassier parts could potentially drown out parts of the game, and we definitely don't need something so nice to be as annoyingly loud as THUNDERDOME OGG. If it's high, consider lowering the project volume. Overall, very excited to see this as part of the jukebox. You've got a talent.
  9. hmm today I will string every buzzword I know into something resembling a sentence.

  10. Several things, IMO. -Removes a long-disliked gamemode that people have been asking to be removed for years, which improves the chances of a more favorable gamemode being picked in the secret rotation. This is probably the biggest benefit. -Removal or the possibility thereof could see people who are passionate about it moving to rework it. Ling has been stale for a long time, with only a few updates. Nobody has taken a full rework on as a project because there are more interesting or enjoyable projects to dedicate time to that benefit the server. The people who enjoy it have not worked on it; this may push a change in that. We saw this happen with skrell when The Fool Who Shall Not Be Named made a PR to remove them, and skrell have never been in a better place than they are now. -Acts on the aforementioned server poll and years of requests of the community. Though, again, gathering an updated opinion beyond git and the forums would not be a bad idea. Things may have changed, though I personally doubt it. IMO it is not a bad idea to remove a disliked/broken/stale piece of the server while it is being fixed, or while looking for someone to fix it. "Rework don't remove" is an annoying buzzphrase. Things get removed almost weekly from the server to improve it; this just happens to be a much larger scale. While the core theme of ling (body horror, paranoia) is an excellent fit for the server and a personal favorite theme of mine, its execution of those themes are poor and stale. Part of it is bad antags, part of it is limiting mechanics. I don't believe anything would be lost by its removal. I think removing it for the time being, with the possibility of it being permanent, is a net gain for the server. I don't think anyone on either side of the argument would be opposed to seeing it come back in a totally reworked way, though, so if anyone is that passionate about the game mode, To anyone who is passionate about it, as I see many are, I suggest gathering the gripes people have with it as feedback, and trying to undertake the project.
  11. Indeed, we repeat the sentiments about not winning in OOC frequently. That does not do much to change. What I'm asking is how do we, as a community, or staff, or developers, engage people on a larger or more obvious scale. What can we do? This isn't me saying your idea is bad or criticizing it; it's a legitimate question. I would love if we could get antags who agree with it all the time; the server would be the best around. The opinion of 9 people viewing the PR does not account for the community as a whole. The poll was before many people here and involved the entire community. I would not be opposed to holding another to re-evaluate the opinions since we've had people leave and new blood enter.
  12. You could get wirecutters from public tool storage. Cut the plant sample, then harvest. It doesn't delete the plant to do this.
  13. Personally I won't be happy until we ban all users with any sort of forum or discord avatar/profile pic.
  14. How would you suggest staff do this on the scale required? While I agree with this, and the sentiment, it's not a practical answer to the problem of ling being bad. Let's not forget that some time within the last year or two, a large poll was held and ling was voted by a WIDE margin to be the least liked gamemode, and, if memory served, most suggestions to fix it were "removal." Something is just now being done about it.
  15. Regarding the PR, wouldn't it make sense to have laser weaponry trigger an explosion almost always?
  16. Like with your malf thread, my preferred implementation would be to just remove it from secret at this time.
  17. I agree with arrow's opinion on how you've implemented it. Removing it from the rotation works fine.
  18. And 29 liked it as is, which is another almost 30 who aren't in favor of a revert.
  19. Reasons supplied seem pretty solid to me; they're excellent points. I support this.
  20. PR is up. Adrenaline only for rescue. Also allows the gripper to grab a few more things. https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/7659
  21. Spoke with matt. Will try to get a PR up tonight for medical borg updates, since I had a few ready to go anyway. Medical module borgs have the capacity for chemistry and empty syringes, so they can get adrenaline easily. Rescue modules cannot do chemistry, so it will be added to their hypos.
  22. Honestly, thank goodness. Traumas are a curse.
  23. Psychiatrists were much more common before traumas were a thing, because it's a RP-heavy role that doesn't need to depend on mechanics. I don't believe we'll see a decrease in psychs due to cloning, but if anyone who plays psych actively wants to share their thoughts, this thread is a good place to do it. I believe traumas are still able to be gained due to brain damage.
  24. That's a hell of a ridiculous leap in what I'm saying and it's pretty clear to me that there's nothing to gain by engaging you any further in this. I've said all I needed to say.
  25. This is a boon for the server. Reduces LOOC/Dchat "OMG CLONE ME / why aren't they cloning me" salt/whining. Fits our new medical system. And who knows, maybe psychs will be seen again, coming back to do RP without having to worry about dealing with post-cloning traumas. Hopefully this will make people be as cautious as you should be ICly.
