[Accepted] Roostercat's Command app
Doxxmedearly replied to Roostercat's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Not bad at all. Always wary about HoS characters leading from the front; some do well, some are just in it for valids. You don't seem to be the latter. Pretty good coordination, lenient when officers and antags require it, hard on officers who are shitheads (Which we absolutely need to see from HoS's, huuuuuge thank you). Hope you'll maintain that even when shit hits the fan and hold officers responsible for, say, executing antags who are helpless or surrendered. Excellent communication, as well. Overall had doubts; Not a huge fan of Crono, but Vulip was excellent to work with. You seem to understand command's role in making or breaking a round, which is the most important part of a trial to me. +1 -
It's still there.

Character Feedback: Rebecca Holand
Doxxmedearly replied to Venty's topic in Character and Concept Feedback
Decent as a QM, though your last antag round was questionable. "Give out fat stacks of cash" is pretty weak. I've not had any issues working under her as a tech or miner though, so your regular play is solid from my memory. -
Honestly we could VERY easily map the bar to be better and accommodate more space for two bartenders. It's an incredibly popular role. You can also have a bartender and a barista working together at the same time. You wouldn't need to double up anything more than like, a shaker, and the closet for clothes in the backroom. Very cool idea, +1.

Crozarius had a great idea I'd love to see implemented in this way: Harm intent clicking the tile you're on while holding a staff or rod plays the sound of hitting a riot shield with a baton, with a message. Great way to get attention before a fiery sermon.

This is a great sentiment. My intro to ss13 was like 6 years ago on Bay; a friend introduced me to the game, I loved it, but I only played maybe 3 rounds with her. Forgot about ss13 until last April, when I came here. I was going to join an MRP station to get the feel of the game, but instead I jumped right on here. I think it was the right choice. Learning the game is not hard once you jump over the curve; if you're confident in your RP, a HRP server is a fine first choice, so long as you're smart about the job you jump into. Mechanics will come soon enough. I've found HRP is good for learning if RP is what you want, because it's WAY less chaotic than LRP, and players on the whole are helpful.

Soultheif96's Command Application

You've not repeated the things that made me wary of your first two initial command apps. You're improving. Keep your nose clean, and it's +1 from me. -
[Accepted] Kaedwuff's Masochistic Robot App
Doxxmedearly replied to Kaed's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
You really don't seem to care about this. Even advertising it in OOC you said you didn't like IPCs. It seems like an application out of spite like your "Kawaii" captain was, rather than an earnest attempt to explore something. Additionally, you've consistently been a unfriendly presence for at least as long as I've been on the server, and it shows in this app. -1 from me, for however much it matters. -
Seems like a half-decent step, but I have to echo diggiez in that removal of the scanners full-out seems excessive. It'd be nice if they had a neutered functionality until upgraded. Otherwise I think the changes are pretty fine. I don't think it'll make medical as unfun as people say, but nor will it make it as fun as you seem to hope. Still, reworking a whole department and system is something to take a few steps at a time. Yeah this is pretty much the crux of what makes medical braindead easy. Chems work 2good2fast. It's not scanners or cryocells. All chems are as simple as inject and wait. Barely any risk of OD and the side-effects aren't even scary. There's no fun to it. Just "put the right reagent in the person and watch them be fine in 5 minutes." Medical needs more ways to treat things besides meds and surgery. Omnizine sucks, tricord is balanced by being slow, and rezadone is strong as the cost of not being easy to produce. I'd say these are fine where they are. Getting rid of cryomixes barely even touches the power of chem, if that's what you're thinking. Even basic wondermixes of the standard drugs are incredibly powerful, and creative/experienced chemists have made some potent things in the last few months. Half the time you don't need to use a cryocell because medication already covers it.

Tailson's Synthetic Lore Deputy Application
Doxxmedearly replied to Tailson's topic in Developer Applications Archives
A very interesting piece of writing. It's great to see some theories about hivebots, and I love how it's written. It showcases your creativity and writing abilities. As a person, you're friendly, hard-working, and you were an excellent admin. You stay involved in thing you invest in, so I think your activity level isn't something to worry about. You'd be a friendly, knowledgeable, fair, and dependable person to discuss whitelist issues with. Harmony is probably everyone's favorite AI, and Brunton showcases your creativity with synthetic characters. Working with you in the Ceres' Lance event was great, and I know you have a lot of knowledge and passion for synthetics in our setting (And in general). I'll ask some general questions to kick off this app. 1) What is your favorite and least favorite part of synthlore right now? Why? 2) What aspects of synthlore would you like to expand on, personally? 3) What are your thoughts on the Golden Deep? -
Cute map, great organization, AWESOME TUNES. Really good use of chameleon kits. The spider terrified my poor girl. Another very successful event. A++

[Accepted] Beelzewax's Vaurca Application
Doxxmedearly replied to beelzewax's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Ah! I just noticed I recognize Tomasz. Very good RP coming from him when I'm on Autumn. Showed proper fear rp when the situation called for it, avoided metagaming, interacts well with others, and plays a believable character. Had no idea you were a newer player. Color me impressed. As for the character... Very interesting concept. A refreshing take and unique idea to explore. Do bear in mind how social vaurca are, and how Vrir may try to cope. It's interesting to see if they'll try to befriend xenos (Who may dislike vaurca as a whole, but won't pick up their point of shame) or other vaurca (Who are safer, more familiar, but may pass judgement on them). I agree with what you say; there's a lot to work with here. Based on what you show with Tomasz, I've no trouble believing you will adapt well to the passive and odd nature of vaurca workers. Good luck. -
Coder Application - Wildkins

I don't think there's a person in this server who hasn't noticed and appreciated everything you've done in such a short time. You also seem like a pretty friendly and approachable guy. +1 -
BYOND Key: Doxxmedearly Character Names: Moth (Stationbound) Rowan Fortune (CT) Sybil Albatross (CE) Keyanna Morgan (Atmos Tech) Autumn Peachwell (Miner) Moxie Maksell (Mechatronic Engineer) Sikaevi Suhn’Krashzkrikh (Detective) Beatrix Saint-Claire (HoP) + others that have only been played for like a round. Now-gone characters include Wynter Steele, Hadiyya Nejem, and Sazya Xichi. Species you are applying to play: Dionae What color do you plan on making your first alien character: TREE COLOR Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yee Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: There’s actual development going on in their lore. They always felt extremely alien to me- rather than just reskinned humans- which was something I appreciated, but they were pretty stagnant and it was easy to forget they even existed. But now with recent developments (Such as their role in the Moghes wasteland) I actually have a character idea for a dionae. It feels like they’re starting to have relevance in our lore, which has sparked an interest for me. It took until now to have an actual concept for a character for the species. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Dionae are pretty damn alien. They’re made up of smaller creatures that can detach and reform, and no human I’ve met can do that. They’re basically a walking hivemind of nymphs that sing to each other. They don’t eat or drink like people (They just absorb basically whatever biomass they want). They don’t feel pain like people. They don’t need air or pressure like people. Buuuut they need light and radiation to live. And they can literally lose/gain memory based on a physical loss to their body (Losing a nymph or merging with one with new experiences). They’re not raised like humans; they grow from a pod, and start integrating into society as soon or as late as they can sip that good good blood for the first time. By taking in genetic code, the nymph expands its ability to learn and starts developing more complex thoughts and becomes capable of more emotions. They can understand other species, but they aren’t … quite the same. One might have human values and experiences, but in the end they’re still a weird immortal gestalt who can learn through blood and so their behavior isn’t going to be exactly the same. They’ve no connecting homeworld or culture like the other species have; they’re shaped by where they were raised. They’ve got a weird place in the universe, being both highly intelligent but also used as a source of labor. Some dionae may seek to fit in, others may choose to embrace a nomadic path. Playing a dionae is about figuring out how to put their weird alien-ness spin on the societies they grew up in. Character Name: Impressions of Many Tiny Claws Please provide a short backstory for this character: In the harsh environment of the Moghes Wastelands, Diona nymphs and gestalts commonly walked among the Unathi natives. The nymphs that would eventually form this particular gestalt were grown in the crop fields of clan Dorvisa. They learned the lessons of any other- their duties to the clan, the teachings of Th’akh, and the warrior’s code of honor. But they also spent much time around the hatchlings- they were curious, energetic, and fun. They would play with the nymphs like pets, and talk with them like friends. It was a bit of joy for both parties in an otherwise harsh environment. When the nymphs merged into a bipedal cyclops, this emotional attachment to the young unathi remained. It became a sort of babysitter for them- with the women often having to work the fields and men doing their own duties, it wasn’t always easy to keep tabs on the energetic children; having another eye them was a relief, and the gestalt’s patience with them was a blessing for exhausted parents. The gestalt housed with an unathi couple and their two children, being accepted in short time as a family member by them. The gestalt still worked the farms, absorbing radiation, preparing soil, and teaching the young about the finer points of how to raise crops. When Punished raiders periodically struck out at the clan’s food and medicine stores, the gestalt stood with the males in defense of the clan, often watching over the women and children to ensure no harm came to them. It took time to decide upon a name. On a day years ago, after the celebration of a good harvest, it took notice of the many marks across its form; little claw marks and scratches dotted its body, whether from hatchlings climbing on it, holding or clinging too hard to a limb, or playing a bit too rough. To the gestalt, they were symbolic; the young unathi left their mark on its life, and this was a representation of that. It, too, left its own mark on their lives. Impressions of Many Tiny Claws announced their chosen name the next day. But life in the wastelands can be unforgiving. Some years later, a harsh season mixed with more frequent Punished raids brought forth hard times and harder decisions. The clan agreed that some would have to go work among the xenos and earn credits for the village to continue trade and survive. The household that Many Tiny Claws belonged to decided it would be among those to go, and the dionae would not allow them to go without them. Alongside members of Clan Vihnmes, credits were gathered and smugglers hired to get them to Tau Ceti, as it was one of the easiest places for them to get work visas and begin wiring credits back home, in hopes of helping the clan survive. While the situation is rather uncomfortable here for the family, being crammed in a small apartment in a foreign system, they all understand their duty to their clan. Hopefully, they could make the most of it. Visas were acquired, jobs were sought, and NT had a few new employees in its ranks. What do you like about this character? Many Tiny Claws has an emotional attachment to their home, clan, and the family unit they live with. Their job on the Aurora isn’t who they are; it’s what they’re doing to help those they care about. They’re a character beyond their job and I know I’ll enjoy making up anecdotes when they talk about their life back on Moghes. They have to adapt to life in Tau Ceti and IC will shape how they feel about it; will it be an enlightening expansion of their horizons, or a disappointing experience that they’ll have to learn to deal with? That’s something that draws me to my characters; a malleable groundwork for IC interactions to shape them. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 8/10. I feel like I’m improving overall, but there are many better players. I don’t have a problem staying in character and understanding my limitations. I think I’ve done well with the whitelists I do have. Notes: This application brought to you by the Unathi wasteland lore page. Planned job is botanist and perhaps odd shifts as assistant.

Basically my initial thought. People already meme a lot with rats and PAIs. I don't want to see pets in the mix.
-
Oh! That's my bad then. Still, they should be spread out more, even if there's two different types.
-
The fact that there's two right near each other seems excessive, too. It... honestly feels like they were placed in a way that says "Hi look at me use me I'm here now" instead of a sensible location for a vendor.
-
That library location is extremely painful to look at. Ye gods.
-
Seems like solid choices for new locations to me. I haven't logged in since they were implemented but two to a single area seems a bit ridiculous. edit: science breakroom has a lot of space, too. Really most breakrooms would be good.

IPC Species Maintainer - Niennab
Doxxmedearly replied to niennab's topic in Developer Applications Archives
Have to echo what Abo said; the server and staff are made of people from all over the world, with conflicting timezones, and yet manage to remain in good communication with one another. Seems like a nonissue. Overall, you've done a great job expanding on your answers. Your conduct is the best out of any applicant so far, with no questionable history or administrative action. Your experience is a weak link compared to others, but something I'm less concerned about. I care more about how a maintainer interacts with the community than I care about their writing ability, because first and foremost the lore is here for the players to work with. If I had any concerns, it would be about whether or not you feel you can handle it. That's not something I want you to answer here, but something you need to know the answer to. It will be work. Do you have the time to dedicate? You'll have deputies helping you, but it's still worth considering. You'll have people coming to you with lore questions, IPC character complaints, what they think lore should be, etc. While a lot of the community is good, some of these people will not be nice. Some people will try to wear you down through constant messages, drama, threats to quit, etc. You need to ask yourself if you can handle these people and if you can stand up for your lore and ideas even against very abrasive individuals without either losing your cool or breaking down. You need to be able to accept and handle criticism (which, given what I know so far, you can). You'll need to able to depend on and work with your deputies and team. If you can handle that, I think you're the strongest choice for maintainer I've seen to date, and give you a +1. I definitely think you can do good by the species. Good luck. -
[2 dismissal; Bin 29.10]Port 'Peacekeeper' Cyborgs
Doxxmedearly replied to Azande's topic in Archive
Pretty much this. There's no gap that needs filling. I'm not opposed to a service-type borg that acts as a morale booster, but there's a lot of meme factor to this. Plus we already have pray for cookies. (I do wanna hug that borg sprite tho) -
Also a fair idea.
