Resolution time. We spend a little to much time thinking and talking about this with the staff team but here is what @ParadoxSpace and I came up with: The warning was given after you were already talked about this topic not long ago. The normal way to go about this is make a suggestion thread or ask on the forums whether or not we should allow or implement it. You could have even written a staff complaint back then to get the discussion rolling. Instead you decided to do the thing again and a warning is pretty normal escalation for that. Let's go through the list of things ordered to determine whether or not the warning will stay: Tactical HUD: One might think it works the same as the basic one, but due to it being googles that are airtight, you just received teargas and peperspray phoron protection, which is powergaming okay, since you do not have a mask on your face and most people do not know about this fact -> Attacking you with those two would result in the antag being pretty much in a world of pain Combat belt: More slots. Nothing else to say. You order equipment that is better than the one you have just in case, or to bring more equipment. Falls under powergaming since there was no need for it. Zipties: That's the tough nut for most. The most used argument was that they are worse handcuffs. Since you can arrest someone in a rig with those, they fall under preparing for a "what if" scenario, a.k.a. powergaming. Now multiple people have told me that the cablecoil handcuffs work the same way. Our take on this is simple: An officer does not need cablecoils. If you walk around with those just in case you need to arrest someone in a RIG you are also powergaming the hell out of a system set up to give the antags some room for errors. Balaclava: A yes, the visual change. This one may not be the reason for the warning issued, but let's do the math here anyway since it has been brought up. Security even got their own uniform regulation. A good one, since it is pretty clear, pretty strict and even has it's own processing reason attached to it. Bless this simple message from centcom as it does two things. First of all failing to uphold this regulation is a clear violation with a clear punishment. Think of it as the following: Every time you wear a balaclava you get a note added to your employment history with a fine. That may be a big problem in your next IR for example. Let's not do this. Now people have raised the concern that staff members can't police clothing choice ingame. Well.... we could, but that would be no fun for either side. Instead I push this ball back to the captain and HoS. Not as a choice but as a staff ruling. This is a regulation. One that you are meant to enforce. You are loyalty implanted, so even if your character thinks this is stupid or makes no sense they would still feel strongly compelled to act according to this. That means if you allow your officer to walk around with a balaclava you are failing to RP your loyalty implant which makes it an OOC issue for the whitelist team to look into. We usually go about this pretty chill and won't be actively punishing for not catching it the minute you step foot on the station or during a firefight, but if you allow your officers to break regulations while the station is calm and in order as loyalty implanted HoS or Captain you are doing it as wrong as you really can. Now this line here shows how your approach to the issue was a bit lacking. It's not about ordering anything. It's about ordering things that violate IC and OOC rules, while being informed that they do so. The normal step for an department or equipment order would be to ask the HoS or HoP/Captain for permission. They agree to order it or not and handle the payment since it is stuff needed for your department. That also involves the reasoning whether or not it is required at this point of the round. If we wanted to have every officer pick their own gear you would spawn with 800 dollars and a weapon select wheel or (which to a fair degree is already represented in the game) let you pick things from the loadout menu to personalize your character. So our solution to this complaint is as follows: The warning will stay. You were talked to about this topic, you ignored it, you take the OOC consequences. That does not mean that this discussion was not needed and I personally thank you for the staff complaint as it forced us to bring out a clear ruling and how we are going to enforce this. This also gives you a simple and fair solution to avoid further consequences. The balaclava as a "visual" item will be clearly forbidden and handled via IC means. That means it has been removed from the cargo menu for now. It also means that the HoSs and captains will be taken into the responsibility of making sure the regulations are followed (as should be done by them any way) and anyone can point out that an officer is breaking the regulation and should be charged. That means if a reporter takes a picture of you with the thing on, you done goofed and can be charged for it. I consider this complaint as handled and will lock it withing 24 hours. If one of you wishes to change regulations or OOC rulings please use the forum for that, as a discord debate (while fun) will not receive the same level of attention, participation and official result. That being said, the people who's posts were removed from this thread and were warned for posting should think about doing so in the future. If a staff member tells you that they do not want to see a dogpile, shoot them a DM if you have a point or sidenote to make. I'd take this in consideration, but getting your post here removed does absolutely nothing to help further the discussion.

Unbanned. Closing this.

I am willing to unban you. The main issue was the disconnect, which made it look like a really bad attempt at griefing. Next time shoot a message over discord, either via DM to staff or just @ someone from the staff team on the general channel so we at least know that your internet or PC died. Give our rules another read (https://aurorastation.org/rules.html) and let me know here when you've done so or have any open questions. I'll unban you after the reply.

Command being Command in the shuttle Ahelp incomming ^^ Mistress boot sequence has encountered a problem When you are antag and bomb maint, but the captain gives you a medal for it... does it become canon? XD When the shuttle breaks before it was even started... He is just wanting to go home (after eating a thumper close range, due to missfire from the TCFL during a canon round ^^) When you are really evil but no plan works out... you go for the lunchbox! Never trust a rogue shell that looks like a dominian cap'n When you ask the admin (in this case me) for a gimmik and go with it.... "Do you feel in charge?" when all of the crew dab on the HoS Some have long plans... some just want to "get riccy" Last but not least my innoficial guide to FTs

@ParadoxSpace and I will handle this complaint. Give us a couple days to look up some things and we'll be back with a decision. I also do not want to come back to a dogpile here. I feel like giving this warning out early on that one

This. We forget this way to often. When I get the ahelp from a 20 day old player having their first wizzard round I tell them the magic three things. RP, escalate, die laughing. It's not your task or job as antag to lose, but at the same time it should not be the goal to win some IC goal of "killing all IPCs". Winning is the good atmosphere after round end when everyone had fun. That being said the most important skill that always breaks the antags is communication. If I see the round start and someone goes to AooC for "who has a plan?" and the response of three mercs is to go on shopping and equipment spree until 0:40 I know we won't have a good round. If you get your idea together, let an admin know. We have seen a lot of them, we will usually give help and more often than not spawn whatever you need for your gimmik. If I see a wizzard ahelping for a gun I just cringe though. It's come to a part where on lowpop Kyres will ask for malf, people will vote malf and Kyres will do a good round for everyone. The silent cult is somehow rather a high pop phenomena. From what I've seen new players tend to "hide" in group antag roles and will either find one or two great mentors and have a good laugh over whatever works out what doesn't or they will, in the worst case, sit in the bridge shooting each other because someone lost his shit in AooC, while security, command and the AI watch completly baffled until the admins give the A-okay message out. I invite you all to try traitor. There is a reason it's probably the most enabled antag role. You can buy stuff, but you don't have to. You can kill people, but you don't have to. Same goes for Vamp or Ling. Sometimes figuring out the mechanics is good enough. As a lategame autotraitor you can try to figure out that tool you never used before instead of going for the loudest explosion and nobody will be mad at you for doing so. That's also partly true for raiders and mercs. Gimmik culture is not the only solution out there. You can just get into the station and try to steal as many ID cards as you can for a fun round. Overall don't sweat it and enjoy your ride is what I'm saying. Bonus points to you if you managed to complete the round without salt. Big bonus if you managed to make other players get a good laugh out of it.

[Accepted] Screemers - Command Whitelist
Cnaym replied to Screemers's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Not a lot of feedback yet, but I saw you teach new players, explaining controles and basics over LooC and you where nice to work with from a command position. Nothing negative to add from side. I think the trial is going strong and hope you gather some more feedback before it ends. I stand by my prior feedback and the+1 attached to it. Good work so far. -
[Accepted] Borya's Cute Lizard Appication
Cnaym replied to BoryaTheSlayer's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Sssssurivial comesss firsst. Yeah I like the character concept, will be interesting to see with which of the gangs she'll mix in. With my whitelist came the big block of telling new players and those interested about the lore ICly, which I enjoy a ton. Now here's where my +1 will come from, because Borya's always happy to help people get their lore straight and has been a great help in the past. Think he'll be a good one to convey the concepts and ideas that make up the unathi to the other races and newcomers. Also no waifu character, that already earned the +1. Based and redpilled, or however the kids say it these days ^^ -
@Honto335 IR binned due to lots of antag involvement. Shoot us an ahelp next time this kind of behavior pops up, since it was borderline LRP.

IPC Species Maintainer - Niennab

This has given you the calmer lowpop extendo rounds where people sit with candles in the bar and you have proven time and time again that you are an amazing addition to that HRP environment. Folks still have good memories of the fun times with Finley while Flotsam and Aubrey are two of may favorites to see on the manifest during lowpop. Sometimes you just got to jump into the cold water, or however that saying would work in other languages ^^ I honestly don't see an issue with this. Might even be a bonus that you don't have a long history with people. I like to think that fresh air is exactly the thing we need and I'm sure that you'll quickly grow into the job. What you have written so far sounds great to me and I'd love to see you in the position. Having you on the server is a good thing, your behavior really is great and I feel like your IPC play is outstanding. I may not be the best one on lore questions, but if my support is of any value you've got it fully. -
Will I manage to argue just using quotes? Maybe in a couple of minutes. Engineers and Miners know this: AI goes "kill kill", they go and kill the AI. If you are unsure whether or not your idea breaks a rule: Ahelp Roboticists have the strongest RCD right now and might even hand it out instead of sending the next Gygax to their early destruction. A creative and new Idea. I like it, we need more of this and less removal
-
I'm dying on this hill, but the few folks screeching won't stop ^_^ I'll be impressed if they do. The rest of us that like the AI and can handle and use it won't lose it anyway. Cameras can be removed by engineers. A bolted door takes the roboticist three secconds to handle right now, a couple more for an engineer. The AI has almost no defenses. You can max cap it from the captains office and laugh. You could even massdriver the SM into it and have a big laugh. This isn't really a balanicing problem, but a creativity issue. You can build a wall in front of a camera and giggle as antag.
-
There is no reason for it and this is one of the topics I won't be neutral or friendly about: You suck at antag? RP! You think the AI sucks? Ahelp their RP! You suck at AI? RP! You think about removing a mechanic because it is not HRP, while falling down holes in a bloodred voidsuit and ahelping for a revive? R..... fuck it, you get it the idea. The staff team is spending a lot of time and energy trying to keep it as high as possible, but we need a) ahelps and b) clear rules. I am all for working over the wiki page or setting up a whitelist. I am also all for using the blacklist to remove people from AI. I suggest a mixture of it. A feedback based AI. No whitelist application, just a quick overview, you get the AI slot and people post their experience and troubles with said AI in it. About Balance: Remove security and antags, solved. You can't have HRP without monitoring RP. You can't have antags or security without having unbalanced gamemodes. Make a rule that the AI can't yell "antag!!!". At the same time make a rule that antags can't do "Zero laws LMFAO." If you see an AI murdering folks because of a lack of laws "Ahelp, AI BAD." In general we have seen a huge increase in the past 3 or 4 months in AI play. New people willing to learn it, people losing the role and overall less murderbony and valid hunting AIs. There is a reason for it and it's not a balancing one. It's the effort of the staff team and the playerbase. Deleting the role outright would be a really bad sign going forward. Why is this post relative agressive toward the minority screeching for it's removal? Because they honestly need to calm down and think whether we are an HRP server or a "can someone hold me hand for greentext" server. If you don't manage to improve with your antag play or ahelp bad AI play then the problem is on your end. And I have seen malfs beaten with words, traitors asking for favors kindly and getting them. Entire hostage situations abusing the AIs protection laws to block a door to stop security from fucking it up once more and so on. The AI is powerfull, it also comes with a big responsibility. Antag does not. It's neither hard, nor hard to stay out of OOC trouble. This. This. This. Why would the majority lose a feature they enjoy and people a role that they invested time and energy in? Because 5 People are screeching. Not going to happen. I love your PRs Geeves, I love the thing you did with ninja for example. Improve not remove. You are more creative than this buddy ❤️

Dragos Cyberpunk lore deputy application
Cnaym replied to Lady Fowl's topic in Developer Applications Archives
That means that she still managed to handle a shit ton of tickets and join a ton of rounds. When it comes to the moderator position there is no doubt that Drwago has put in the time and energy. You say that you have the time and energy now. If you manage to invest that time and energy I have no doubt that you will do a great job as lore deputy. I currently see no reason not to trust you on this. Good luck with your application, I strongly support it. -
Wrong. Cyber suit chips exist.
-
Read it multiple times now. Love it. Gives new people a new spawn point and background that is understandable and well rounded. Exactly what the frontier alliance needs to be more beginner friendly while allowing new players to ease in without having to think of everything themselves. It would also be a neat thing for the mining department, which I am all in favor for!

[Accepted] Screemers - Command Whitelist
Cnaym replied to Screemers's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I remember you back from my Spike Barnes days. If you managed to stay in my head that long you have done more than something right. One of the few people who actually know their shit when it comes to engineering. And I am not willing to say this even about every CE we have right now ^^ Give them a command position. It's about time. +1 -
BYOND Key: Cnaym Character Names: Main ones: Kim, Iruca, Kaiser, Ayleen Pryce, Catherine Ruilly, River Frye, Lucien Grace Species you are applying to play: Unathi, Aut'akh What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Dark Blue Aut'akh Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes, been stalking them for a while now. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: Seeing little to no Aut'akh around lately and want to improve their numbers since they are an amazing group of people. I love their lore, their character concept is very appealing to me and the Paradigm Bulletins together with ingame interactions with Ansiba Zui had me falling in love with the species more than once. Took me a while to write my app since events have been overrunning me since I applied for moderator, but I finally got to it. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: The fluff really. You get a ton of amazing tools to promote the lore through IC means, you have to adjust your playstyle around the responsibility of being a lot stronger and survival focused instead of getting them valids. I feel like the different Implements and the Mesh can really spice up simple things like doing a repeated work over and over for example. Then there's the connection to the other species, religions and cultures. Certain priests may love the metal monster in front of them, while other Unathi or Dominians will let you know that they consider you a soulless monster. Then there's the middle ground, species who had little interaction with the Aut'akh or OOCly new people who want to learn more about them. It moves from playing a role to representing a people which makes it so interesting for me. Character Name: Optikam Rin Please provide a short backstory for this character Born 2435 Rin grew up in the middle of a war that nobody was prepared for. Her parents barely managed to keep her safe during the week long nuclear war and everything they owned was lost to nuclear hellfire. When it became clear that they where unable to provide for the child they called in favors from fellow survivors who knew them before the war and managed to get Rin into a smaller orphan clan, with the hope of offering her a better life. Living in an almost proper clan was better, but no real solution. Lots of menial labor and barely any food led Rin to strive through other means. She helped get things in and out of the settlements that where either forbidden or frowned upon and managed to survive on her own for a while. When she overdid it, which lead into a formal investigation into her orphan clan, she was declared a Guwan and forced to leave what little she called her own behind. After getting exiled from a couple of towns she traveled the wastelands with a fellow wanderer who turned out to be one of the unaugmented Aut'akh followers, who was searching for new recruits. With hopes of a better life and belonging to a steady community again, she ventured north. Barely considered an adult and with nothing to call her own she was overwhelmed by the strong bound that made up Aut'akh society. They where barely scraping by, just as everyone else, but for reasons she didn't fully understand they where one people that wouldn't let each other down. There was no exile, there was no greed, there was only a shared vision and the strive to be more than survivors. Given her prior interaction and mentality she was wholeheartedly welcomed into the Optikam clan. When it was time for her augmentation she didn't exactly value the ritualistic side of it, but that was about to change when she was connected to The Mesh. Overflooded with the sudden realization that she was now connected to her new family far beyond simple words and their shifting meaning she started her work as a scout filled with joy, slowly realizing that the Aut'akh where indeed lead by something more than mortal lords and clan infighting. While she was accustomed to her new life and enjoyed her work there was a single event that turned her entire newfound faith in her community and abilities around. It was the first deployment of the BattleTrance.OSS against a hostile scouting party. Rin was trained in it's use, but never realized the possible outcome. When she woke up she was surrounded by dead Unathi and Aut'akh alike, realizing that she was not made for the frontlines of war, she returned with the groups leader to the bunkers and began working for more subtle fields of information gathering, trying to stay out of combat as much as possible. When the second Decree came in April of 2461 she signed up with the exile fleet in hopes of once more shaping her own future and aiding her fellow Aut'akh in surviving their current situation. This time with newfound strength, due to her not fighting alone, but for a cause she deemed worthy through her own choices. While she doesn't mind the small space that she calls her own in New Gibson, she is overjoyed to help the Aut'akh as one of the first to work outside of the colonie for extended periods of time as a cargo technician aboard the NSS Aurora. What do you like about this character? Short IC Overview: OOC: The mixture between acting in the shadows and the need to connect with everyone arround in a desperate race to not be alone in their new found environment and daily work aboard the Aurora. Rin was not made for self antaging, but rather to find out as much information about the other species and cultures as possible in their daily life aboard the Aurora. This can come in a suprising willingness to help someone who clearly has not the best of intentions just to see how the story unfolds or spying on the local IPC bartender to figure out why he's shining in gold when all of the other IPCs have a rather poor income. A good example would be the knowledge that money is powerfull and people are willing to exchange goods and informations for it, something that other Aut'akh struggle with, but a well educated Optikam could use to their advantage. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 8/10 I do what I do. People seem to enjoy it. I get emerged and have fun doing it. Notes: Keeping it a little in the dark for things that I want others to find out through IC interaction and records. If there's pressing questions please ask them and let me know how to improve my application.

Experience checks out. Clear goal in mind. Willing to aid the community. Has been teaching new folks in LooC frequently is what I can add from my side. Used to love Eric Bayer and your new Tajara Yahir has showed people once more that you are able to RP on a really high level of quality. That being said I think the suit'll fit you well. You got my full support with this app, which means a pistol to the back of your head. DO THE THING! On another note I know few nerds who bash in security with them regulations like he does. Shows that he really puts his heart into it when and that he took his time in security serious. -
