Personally I'm not a huge fan of these resprites. They look very droopy and, for lack of a better word, flaccid. The badges don't seem to line up with the rest of the beret like they do on (most) of our current ones. Personally, I'd rather these berets follow the style of our current ones. I'm not opposed to adding more berets, but I just don't like how these ones look.

Dominia needed more reworking due to continuing to be nonsensical. In this rework are: - A new great house! - More sensible unathi! - Internal political drama (Fisanduh is not yet lost)! - Expanded great houses! All of them! - Tons of more stuff!!! Now I can finally return to my lore crypt to rest for one thousand seconds before somebody pings me with yet another hilarious mistake in oldlore. This will likely be the last Dominian rework ever. So please, enjoy it! https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Empire_of_Dominia https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Empire_of_Dominia_Great_Houses

VICE PRESIDENT HURK’JURL DEAD IN CAR CRASH! BREAKING ― sources in Mendell City today have told the Bugle that Vice President Fahjil Hurk’jurl has passed away just a short while ago following a catastrophic car accident in District 3. Eyewitnesses report that the Vice President’s personal vehicle was involved in a collision with a cargo truck driven by a bound Vaurca of the Zo’ra hive on his way home from work. When attempting to run a red light, his vehicle was struck and overturned, and after several harrowing minutes of emergency officials attempting to remove the Vice President from the wreckage, he was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from the Xavier Trasen Memorial Hospital. Mendell City Police officers were informed by eyewitnesses present at the time of the incident that it appeared that the Vice President lost control of his vehicle shortly before he arrived at the intersection, and was unable to regain control of his government-issue NanoTrasen CityCruiser™ before his collision with the cargo truck. Traffic and accident investigators at the MCPD found, after a cursory inspection, that there were no signs of foul play, and the case is considered to be an “open and shut” example of reckless driving. “I hear this government vehicle coming up from behind me,” says Ken Anderson, 47, a NanoTrasen auditor. “He was going way too fast - seemed like at least twenty kilometers over the limit. So, I did the logical thing, and pulled over out of his lane [...] the next thing I knew, I watched him barrel through a red light and slam into the truck. I called EMS, but it was probably too late [...] you just don’t walk away from a crash like that, you know?” Traffic camera footage provided to the Bugle from the accident site corroborates the witness’ statement, showing the Vice President veering sharply into the path of the oncoming truck after haphazardly speeding towards the intersection. The unfortunate and untimely passing of Vice President Hurk’jurl is a tragedy for the entire Republic, while particularly impacting the Tajara community in the Imperial Palace district. The Vice President was the first Tajara to hold such a high-ranking position in the Republic’s government, and he was widely regarded as a trailblazer for his species. A candlelight vigil will be held at the District Six Church of S’rendarr in his memory. The thoughts and prayers of the Bugle’s entire staff team are with his family in this tragic moment of national loss. This is an ongoing story, and will be updated as necessary.

LANDMARK COURT DECISION SEES EINSTEIN ENGINES DEFEAT NANOTRASEN! Stunning news from the Xavier Trasen Memorial Courthouse this evening! Einstein Engines has been found not guilty on all counts brought to court by the NanoTrasen Corporation, and production of the Suzuki-Zhang Hammer Drive is set to continue without interruption. A triumphant Einstein Engines legal team headed by Doctor Noella Lopez-Zhang herself has been photographed leaving the courthouse earlier this afternoon, smiling broadly and waving to an assembled crowd of reporters before addressing them. LOPEZ-ZHANG: “Today is an historic day for Einstein Engines. We are no longer the Einstein of the past decades, reeling from defeat after defeat and barely keeping pace with NanoTrasen. Our victory in this legal case has shown that we can not only meet NanoTrasen, but that we can best them even in their headquarters. I look forward to the great things our company is going to do over the following years.” The decision today is as stunning a defeat for NanoTrasen as it is a victory for Einstein Engines, with Einstein Engines now set for its most profitable quarter on record and NanoTrasen - due to declining phoron stocks and massive courtroom costs - now set for its worst. NanoTrasen, which has not lost a legal case brought against it in the Republic of Biesel for over fifty years, has stated that it is currently seeking to sell off its corporate holdings in the city of Phoenixport in order to recoup some of its losses from this quarter. Bidding is set to begin at midnight (GST) today, and to close at the end of this week. Currently the People’s Republic of Adhomai, the Zo’ra Hive, and several minor companies in the Republic have all expressed interest in purchasing land from the Phoenixport auction.

Remove technomancer from the secret rotation
NewOriginalSchwann replied to Kintsugi's topic in Archive
This is the same argument that we had with AI malfunction, and that mode was also horrific. It also got removed, so there's at least some good left in this unending nightmare of a world which we inhabit. I'm not going to hit myself in the hand with a claw hammer for the 1/100 chance that I'll get a good outcome, so why would I bother with playing wizard for the cryptid that is the good wizard round? -
Remove technomancer from the secret rotation
NewOriginalSchwann replied to Kintsugi's topic in Archive
Please god just remove this stupid game mode. I cannot believe that we are even seriously arguing to keep the statue-creating, fireball-shooting, robe-wearing, spirit-bear-having role that is a little too whacky by the standards of a LRP server here, on the Aurora. It's utterly mind-boggling lunacy, and it brings me pain to see the lore I've poured my time and heart into get used to chase Biggus Chungius of the Wizard Federation around the station for two hours as he turns random people into statues. It makes me want to scream. -
Court Date Set for NanoTrasen v. Einstein Engines Trial! The legal departments of both Einstein Engines and the NanoTrasen Corporation have, after several days of back-and-forth debate and discussion, settled upon a date and location for the upcoming corporate espionage lawsuit regarding Einstein Engines’ new Suzuki-Zhang Hammer Drive. The battle over the site of the trial has been fierce, due to NanoTrasen wishing for it to be held in Mendell City - its home territory - and Einstein Engines wishing for it to be held in Harmony City, Luna - its home territory. Einstein Engines has proven to be, at least here, the loser: the Republic of Biesel and Sol Alliance have both agreed that, as the suing party, the NanoTrasen Corporation has the right to decide the location of the trial. Rumors that the Sol Alliance was pressured into allowing the trial to proceed under threat of a further tightening of phoron exports to it have been denied by both NanoTrasen and the Sol Alliance. Einstein Engines has declined to speak with the Bugle regarding the trial’s location, but has stated that it has “full confidence” in the ability of the Republic of Biesel to properly carry out justice. Vice President Fahjil Hurk'jurl, a known proponent of further legislation to control megacorporations, has informed the Bugle that a “[...] highly imparrrrrtial judge and jurrrrry,” have been selected for the upcoming hearings and trial. NanoTrasen’s legal department has expressed its confidence that the judge and jury will decide correctly in the upcoming case, and legal director Mori Takachika has been seen personally meeting with the judge in charge of the case to ensure it proceeds properly. Unfortunately, the upcoming trial is closed to members of the media for security reasons. However, the Bugle will report on the results of the trial as soon as they are released.

Generally I only wear badges, different shoes (such as dress shoes and taller boots), and sometimes a tie as I believe officers should be easily identifiable. The most "out there" officer I have is one that attaches a Trinary Perfection cape to her armor and wears a submariner's coat while coming on and off of duty.

AI's Round-start Remote Mech Removal [Feedback]
NewOriginalSchwann replied to Doc's topic in Completed Projects
Remove it. I'm sick of watching M.E.A.T.B.O.T. body antagonists with its free whacking robot every other round as security wonders why there is a rock 'em sock 'em robot running around. -
I have known Danse long enough to know that he is passionate about lore and about creating characters. I trust that he will handle the role of consular officer extremely well, and that he will make a good - perhaps great - character for the role. This application has my support, and I wish you the best of luck.

[Passed] Happy Fox's Command Application
NewOriginalSchwann replied to Happy_Fox's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Geeves has threatened to rip my arms off if I do not comment on this application and, while he might be trying to bluff me, that is not a risk I want to take. Threats against my life aside, Happy Fox plays one of my favorite science characters (as a lore writer I am contractually obligated to not tell you my favorite, which means it could be you reading this) and has shown themselves to be a very capable research director able to handle a variety of situations. I have nothing to give other than my support, so here's my +1. -
Stobarico's Head of Staff Application

I'm a little confused as to what Hoffmann is meant to be, as I've seen her as both a Hephaestus liaison and a consular officer. Could you clarify this? -
Return the 360° radius to mining's lanterns
NewOriginalSchwann replied to Sheeplets's topic in Archive
I support this. It gives a pretty underused item a niche to exist in and helps alleviate some of the headaches that now originate from going EVA in the post-meson world. Besides, don't most lanterns produce light in a circle anyways? -
Moving it backs allows more lore opportunities and, as NiennaB stated, allows a more natural flow. IPC lore has always felt hyper-compressed to me, and it's often hard for me to justify them being so young (~30 years) and so prevalent. Shells in particular have always bugged me: they're one of our most prevalent IPC types in lore, and are five years old in our setting. In five years they've managed to go everywhere in the Orion Spur (especially corporations such as Idris) and become a political problem in many factions. It's never really made sense to me when I think hard about it. It also creates awkward scenarios wherein a modern, top-of-the-line-perfectly-human shell and uncanny valley prototype shells are divided by a few years at best and months at worst. This will also help the Trinary Perfection greatly, as it gives them time to expand to something beyond a weird, recently formed fringe group. I've felt this often when making IPCs. It's hard to make a compelling backstory with, give or take, five years for a shell and I'm often left feeling unsatisfied. At worst, I sometimes feel like I've made a Mary Sue that progresses through everything super rapidly and can't make any mistakes as I write a character's journey to the Aurora in the space of only a few years. My backgrounds often end up feeling like a compressed mess of overlapping events and occurrences taking place at a breakneck pace. Regarding IPC rights, I have full confidence that the synthetic team will handle their precarious situation well. If anything, their rights seem to have progressed extremely quickly in thirty years and this will help it seem more reasonable. My vote is to move the clock back thirty years, to 2407, in order to give the most room for IPCs to grow in our lore.

Staff Complaint - Snakebittenn
NewOriginalSchwann replied to Colfer's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
Hello, I played the warden that was murdered in this round. I want to comment on one thing. I did not willingly come down to the construction level. Your fellow cultist, Julius Chet, stopped the elevator while I was traveling downwards. Shortly after I asked what you were doing. you walked forward and began stabbing me to death while I was completely unarmed. You then did the same thing to two other people. I spent more time in transit on the transfer shuttle than I spent alive on the Aurora. It was an utterly miserable experience. -
I (with the help of editors) wrote Europa finally. Read it here: https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Europa

I don't like it, and here are some of my reasons: - Blasters are pretty dated in our setting, especially compared to lasers. This is supposed to be one of the best NT stations, why is the security wing being given the same guns that the poorly-equipped TCFL gets? - This gives security free lethals when they're antagonists, since command likes to elevate the code as soon as somebody sneezes. - This will likely create a strategy I saw on Bay: antagonists lowering the code to green to disable security's lethal ability, then command elevating it, then command elevating it again, repeat until the round ends. - It makes being an antagonist harder, since all officers can now shoot through windows on any code (and I bet they'll shoot you with lethal shots if they get their chance. - The ion issue. I'm not opposed to this being a replacement for our energy pistols, which are a relic from the /tg/ days and have a mediocre sprite, but I don't think they should replace security's ballistics.

I disagree with the other two members of this thread. Roboticists get an absolutely busted amount of content for just one job, such as: Building and repairing hardsuits Building and repairing exosuits Cyborg maintenance AI maintenance Repairing cyborgs Cyborgification (the surgery) Building cyborgs (the chassis) Piloting exosuits Using hardsuits Repairing external and internal prosthetics Installing internal and external prosthetics This is a pretty huge amount of content for one job title (I probably forgot a few things, honestly), and the alternative titles help designate what a character is supposed to be good at. I'd much rather see robotics have its alternative jobs better described (i.e. with what they can do written down) or the job changed to be a biomechanical engineer and a mechatronic engineer (with both being one-slot jobs). As such, I can't support this PR as it now stands.
