[ACCEPTED] Faye's Command (but really just CMO) App
CatsinHD replied to Faye <3's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
From the time I've been able to interact with Faye and their CMO I must say, they're good. Knows medical and can rp quite well. I give my support. -
Honestly I think a lot of these are solid and, at the least, the concept is good. We could all brainstorm something honestly and iron things out.

Thanks for the tips, especially the tip about faxes! Fine, I'll fix the formatting -
[ACCEPTED] Murdoch's command whitelist
CatsinHD replied to CatsinHD's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Alright, I'll answer most of these from the view of the HoP (with the exception of number 1). 1. Over all of the command positions the first things that I personally would try to do is contact central. Give an update on what we know and the options we are considering to deal with the issue. After all, an up to date Central is better than one sending announcements about not receiving faxes. Next is determine whether the intruders can even be contacted without having a bullet rammed through your skull and setting the code to blue. In this case, contacting them to figure out what they want and negotiating diplomatically would be the safer option. Should that fail, or they are straight up being hostile with no interaction, moving to red, ensuring all the departments are locked down and updating Central to request some form of help would be in line. If Central is not being very helpful or just not responding, it would be time to consider calling an emergency shuttle or launch the emergency beacon. Until a response or the shuttle arrives, a full lockdown would be needed. 2. (Assuming we are in a standard situation) Whether the infraction is high severity or not I would need to contact the rest of command. Personally, I would remind the Captain that they are breaking a regulation with their order and ask that they should look for other options that do not include breaking regulation. If they continue with the order I would fax central, with the other command staff being in agreement, explaining what is happening and the context. If central acknowledges it but does not provide any further info or orders we simply wait for the order to finish and bring it up to the captain afterwards. If it is high severity a discussion would be needed whether or not to remove the captain from power and replace them with an acting captain. Assuming it is successful a fax would be sent to Central again. 3. Considering the only department that can keep the peace and safety is revolting, the first goal is to ensure that crew are safe within their departments. If the revolt starts to shift towards science, inform them through the RD (If one is on shift) or through the PDA and ensure they are on lockdown. Same with the bar, kitchen, engineering (who don't have shutters for some reason), so on. The next step that should be taken ASAP is talking with the HoS, if one is there, about wrangling together security and calming them down. While they do that, or don't because they too are revolting, I'd send a fax to central along with appoint interims assuming it is safe for them to get their ID changed. An ERT would be necessary considering there is no other department that can effectively control a revolting sec (not legally at least and I'm not very fond of an armed cargonia). Without an HoS I'd join security radio to figure out what they are wanting out of this revolt and try to see if talking them out of it would work. Barring that, waiting for ERT or, god forbid it, arming the crew would be in order. 4. Delegate. Bringing us to code blue would be in order along with beginning to hand out interims to people who have records that fall in line with it. Get an interim chief to handle the damages that are inevitable, CMO to coordinate a medbay that hopefully won't fall into chaos once the injuries start arriving. HoS to coordinate the security department and save myself the trouble since I am no tactical mastermind (which is why I never plan on playing HoS). One of these spots, including RD, would already be filled as mentioned in the question. All of the interims appointed would also need to be cleared with that fellow command member before we have problems within the command department. From there I would operate as HoP (assuming that is my job) and try to help the other departments where I can. Assuming no one else does it, updating central is needed. I might have missed something which I have no doubt you will find. Feel free to rip them apart as I expect you will. I will never fix my formatting. -
BYOND key: William Murdoch Character names: (Notable Characters) Kandaza Saif Sabah El-Tusi Alik Antonov How long have you been playing on Aurora?: ~5-6 months Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: Command presents an interesting experience which I am looking for. In the times I have experienced command through being Interim or a random event it has been a position I have found a level of fun that is different than most other things. It is the joy of executing a plan and organizing a team to deal with a situation successfully or improve a section of the station in a quick and efficient manner. Why did you come to Aurora?: Compared to the other servers I played before Aurora, Aurora was the best for roleplay which is what I was searching for. My experiences on Bay were boring and Paradise Station was too chaotic for me to have any lasting RP so I came back to Aurora, which I had hopped on once in August 2019 or sometime like that. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yes. I also have some experience as interim CE (and technically HoP) Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? Two warnings. We mess up sometimes and the best we can do is learn from those times. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay can be seen as two things, the dictionary definition and the practical definition. Dictionary wise, roleplay is acting out the part of a person or character. This is a solid definition but also lacks the practical side of it. To have good roleplay the player needs to feel their character while playing as them. Roleplay ultimately is about acting out interesting situations and the chaos and adventure in solving them. The enjoyment is from characters who are not us, or who are, and are in a situation or setting that is not our own. The thrill and fun of roleplay comes from players who are invested in their characters and how these characters interact in these situations. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: The OOC purpose of the Head of Staff is to further RP, or enhance it. Mechanically the station can run fine without any command staff but without them a level of rp and fun is lost. Security can deal with a threat and have fun but there is a charm with a commander leading his officers in a way that can successfully deal with a problem. They introduce a level of RP that is not needed but is cool and fun when it is there. Beyond that they also provide a good learning source for players. They can help out new players and give out suggestions to others. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: OOC wise they are there to assist players who have questions about a department or who are new to the game. They are in a position to help and lead those who are under their command in game but this does not change oocly, except for the under their command part. I plan on keeping myself open to questions some players may have about the department or how to work in said department. If it is something I don’t know yet I will strive to learn that field and come back to teach them or help them find someone who does know the field better than I do. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? Fahkr is a reassigned HoP to the Aurora after his retirement from the Legion. Before the invasion he served as a Quatermaster on the NCV Archimedes which experienced a large increase in activity with the phoron shortage. Loading and unloading had to be faster and more flights had to be made as phoron demand increased and increased. The invasion pulled him back to the Legion, though, as he was pulled in full time. His new position finds even more pressure as he has to keep a well supplied mining crew pumping out phoron on one of the major mining station producing phoron. He is also recovering from the war and his time fighting. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Head of Personnel and potentially CE. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking: Fakhr Al-Kandari – Head of Personnel (Created just for command) How would you rate your own roleplaying?: 7/10 Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes Extra notes: I haven't been as active as normal in the past week or two because of a combination of school and holidays. Hoping to get back into it.

I like all of these although I don't think PDA would need to be linked. My thought process with the PDA is that it is assumed NT is providing these devices and having 2 or 3 would be a little unrealistic for a company just to hand out since they are pretty functional now. I like the backpack ideas though and also think the headset choice should be thrown in too once that it added.

I also think this would be nice. If I was any smarter I would try to code it myself

Murdoch's Tajaran application
CatsinHD replied to CatsinHD's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Thanks for responding. Sorry about the confusion of Tajara, Tajarans, etc. I have the urge to right Tajarans as the plural for whatever reason so it was a few slip ups here and there. In regards to the questions: 1. Ra Kharek'Moro hates the NKA with a burning passion on both a personal and ideological level. She believes the nobility and Caste system is an evil on the Tajaran race. Personnally she hate the NKA for the death of her father, who died to NKA artillery fire. Her view of the DPRA are more tolerant. She hates to see a faction break from the PRA but she also believes that they will fall under their own system. Her main problem against the DPRA is their advances onto PRA territory and their actions against the state. 2. Ra Kharek'Moro is moving to Tau Ceti in search of more adventure and a better purpose. She has never had any desire to enter into the government and politics of the PRA. After the Armistice her job in the military no longer had the ability to make pushes or fight so in response she signed on with Nanotrasen hoping to make an impact as a Security Officer. -
Murdoch's Tajaran application
CatsinHD replied to CatsinHD's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I'd like to clear something up, I made a slight mistake on my background. I listed Siik'Tajr as a language that was reinforced by the M'Sai, I meant to write Nal'rasan. Sorry about the mix up. -
BYOND Key: William Murdoch Character Names: Angel Shaw, G.Y.V.E.R. (Only notable characters) Species you are applying to play: Tajaran (M’Sai) What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Silver Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes and I still am reading it to ensure I have my facts straight. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: I think the Tajara are a very unique species who sit in an interesting position. They are a space-faring race, yet really on humans for equipment that is beyond 20th century technology. They are from a divided planet which has a deep and interesting conflict. Their culture is unique and a speech pattern that is solid and fun. I think they’d be interesting to play in security (which I main) because of the possibilities for backgrounds, former PSIS, Ha’narr corps, or the others. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Tajaran presents, like all the races, its own unique style and RP possibilities, one that I like and can RP well. The inherent disputes that appear from the fact that Adhomai is in a cold war are bound to appear and present an interesting battle of either ideological discussion or, for the more brawl inclined Tajarans, an interesting escalation into a fight, involving sec or creating conflict within the department should it be a sec officer involved. This is similar to how the ethnicities of Tajara play into how each are treated and stereotyped. The Ma’Sai are slender and typically soldiers, mild-mannered but are more than ready to fight when they’re riled up. The Njarir are persecuted for their ties to nobility and a largely burned down culture, and the Zhan-Khazan who are the brute workers, and so on. Another difference is their biological features. Their sleep cycle opens up possibilities for unique RP moments when you are pissed and paranoid for a shift because you pushed too far beyond your waking period. Momentary breaks that not only allow for the RP of the small naps that are present with Tajara but also give some lee-way for players who need to go AFK for a moment without going SSD and potentially stumping a scene. Their biology even plays into mechanics with their need to limit heat which allows them to be the one species that can roll down their jump-suit and not get yelled at immediately. Their language is notorious for being used constantly but only displays their troubles with understanding and speaking Basic, despite passing the test to get a job. Character Name: Ra Kharek’Moro Please provide a short back-story for this character: Ra Kharek’Moro is a female M’Sai Tajara born to a Hadiist family within the PRA on December 19th, 2435. Her parents were former revolutionaries during the first civil war and were granted membership into the party shortly after the end of the first civil war. Due to this she had spent much of her time in Nal’tor, where her family resided, and developed a strong loyalty to the PRA. Her father had taken her on many hunting trips, showing her the ways of hunting any beast he could. This would form a strong bond and begin the love of hunting and her expertise in the use of guns. During a hunting trip an injured Ha’rron was found by the pair and brought back to a small shack outside the city. After a year of caring and work it was domesticated and became a beloved hunting companion. Ha’rri, as her father called it, died a few years later, being mistaken by another hunter for a wild Tundra Hound. Her mother, who had largely stayed out of the fighting and war, was a blade smith. She took any opportunity she could to bring Ra Kharek’Moro to her work and teach her the ways of forging blades, which despite being ancient even for Adhomai, were still used as self-defense weapons or ornaments to hang within the homes of their buyers. Later, when Ra Kharek’Moro had joined the military, this skill would prove useful when Ra used her own knife on many occasions. Ra Kharek’Moro is heavily against the caste system. She holds the opinion that no Tajara should be bound to a set of rules because of something they could not choose. She agreed that each ethnicity had different biological traits but also believed that they could break the mold and do work that would normally not compliment their ethnicity. Her family was a mostly atheist family which led to Ra Kharek’Moro being Atheist herself. Her upbringing in a revolutionary family led to the homeschooling of Siik’tajr, further enforced by the nature of her family being M’Sai. Her father died at the onset of the second civil war, he was killed during a battle with the New Kingdom when an artillery shell struck the tent he was in. His death had pushed Ra Kharek’Moro to join the army and avenge his death and ensure the PRA’s dominance over Adhomai. She had applied to the Mountain Ghost Corps in 2453 and was accepted in at the age of 18. Ra Kharek’Moro’s service in the Ha’narr Corps lasted 8 years and was filled with many missions, often placing her in New Kingdom territory. On one mission Ra Kharek’Moro and her team of 6 were discovered by a Royal guard defending an anti-air radar. The firefight that had followed found Ra Kharek’Moro assisting 3 team-members in a retreat. While providing covering fire an enemy had thrown a grenade which had landed nearby her. In attempt to save her team mates and herself she drove onto her team-mates, driving them to the ground and covering them the best she could. The following explosion tore off her right leg, forcing her to receive prosthetics and forever changing her view on life and death. After the Armistice of Shastar, Ra Kharek’Moro had become discontent with the state of the PRA and Adhomai as a whole. Being unable to further assist, with almost all fighting having stopped, she had made the decision to leave the army in search for a more impactful and adventurous job. While in Nal’tor with her mother, Ra Kharek’Moro had found a job opening within Nanotrasen, who was searching for security officers and ERT members at the time. She had applied to both jobs and left in 2461 to the nearest NT security academy. The following career has seen her placed onboard a Nanotrasen research ship for her time as a cadet and later transferred to the NSS Aurora when a position opened up. She spends much of her free time in Little Adhomai within the PRA sympathetic side. In an attempt to begin the process of gaining dual citizenship with Tau Ceti, Ra Kharek’Moro bought a small apartment in District 6. When she is not spending time in a dive bar chatting with others she is forging a knife or hunting carp with the few hunting expeditions that come by the Mendell City spaceport. What do you like about this character? This is a hard question for me as I struggle to describe why I like things in general. I like her heavy ties to the PRAI like Ra Kharek’Moro’s upbringing with a Commissar father who served the PRA well. I like the many stories that can stem from her 8 years in the Har’Narr Corps. I like the unique situation that a former Mountain Ghost has to adapt to the lifestyle of security and learn to tolerate the other factions that are bound to show up in Tau Ceti. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 8/10 Notes: None that I can think of.

Thanks! I had read that part of the PRA page but it didn't specify if they were allowed to volunteer or not so I just wanted to clarify.
-
I'm currently reading up on the lore of Adhomai and Tajara so I can make an app later when I'm ready. The one question I have, though, is what the PRA's military acceptance is like. Do they accept female if they volunteer? Along with that question I'd also like a little more detailed explanation of names. I have a name in mind for my character but I want to make sure it would work as a Tajaran name (Her name is Ra Kharek’Moro).
-
So I went through and I found all the cool stuff I missed. The one thing I'm not sure about is how to get a handle for a blade. Is it the hilt or something else?
-
Shaw here. The few rounds I've had with you you have been great to talk to and work with. I always hope that if we have a CSI it is you. Happy spider hunting.
-
Honestly I think the best way to get around this is to advocate for de-escalation more. It'd be hard to justify enforcement OOCly and ICly it'd be incredibly hard to enforce because of the nature of what the sec officer has at their disposal and often how you get to that situation with one being at the ready while the other has to react.
-
Just wanted to make sure. Can you make it with only metal?
-
As the name suggests I'm wondering if the sword is the only melee weapon I can craft. I'm interested in seeing if a knife could be crafted for all kinds of reasons. If not I'd like to know why.
-
Who says it'd have to be holographic. I don't think it'd be unreasonable that a tank of the various drinks is stored somewhere off the holodeck and is fed through via piping. The equipment couldn't move because of this or would be disabled unless it is on the designated spot.

BYOND Key: William Murdoch Character Names: Angel Shaw, Savanna Autumn(not used yet), Autumn Kindler, Minku Narith Species you are applying to play: IPC Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Why do you wish to play this specific race: I enjoy the concept and possibilities of IPCs. Often times I portray my characters with little emotion, I have yet to get the hang of that side of RP. I'd enjoy extending it beyond characters who are accepted wholesale and live and work without much bother. IPCs fascinate me in how many different ways they can affect a situation with just how they operate. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: IPCs are subject of controversy and by that very fact can cause many situations that are a simple extension of in-game lore. They can also vary so much from IPC to IPC. One may be a baseline model that is simply doing its job while another may be free and is trying to connect to other and maintain safety. An IPC may be trying to understand and connect with humanity or another alien species or an IPC may be trying to earn enough money to buy its freedom. Conflict and arguments may occur from the mere existence of an IPC on the station. The vast amounts of backgrounds and goals of IPCs open up a bunch of new possibilities for RP. Character Name: IRU-Gyver (Shortened to Gyver) Please provide a short backstory for this character: IRU-Gyver is a shell IPC built by Terraneus Diagnostics. Gyver was purpose built for security and investigation and was sold to Idris Incorporated as an IRU unit. After multiple successful reclamation missions, IRU-Gyver was leased out to Nanotrasen who assigned it to NSS Aurora. IRU-Gyver was assigned with IRU-Mac for its service in Idris. During multiple missions Gyver was reported to have backed away from diplomacy and let its partner, Mac, talk. On 3, of the 15 missions, the talks failed and Gyver was reported to have swift action in dealing with the problem. Gyver preferred the use of stunning equipment with these situations, even when one of the clients used lethal force. On multiple occasions Gyver was questioned on the heavy preference of stun equipment and the response went so, "I respond to problematic clients in a manner that serves the company. Harming and maiming a problematic client may cause expenses that would breach my directive to serve Idris." During Mac and Gyver's soon to be final mission in Idris, Mac was killed from an outside party who had targeted the two. At the conclusion of the mission, which Gyver had somehow managed to diplomatically end, Gyver was leased to Nanotrasen before a new partner was assigned. Within Nanotrasen Gyver was but one of 5 newly leased IRUs from Idris. Gyver was originally planned to be assigned to Odin but was reassigned to Aurora after an incident occurred where the lack of a CSI led to the death of 3 crew members and the escape of a traitor. Gyver enjoys listening and attempting to decipher the nuances of human and alien speech. Despite this, Gyver prefers as little speech as possible, only using it when required by directives and often the speech is short. Gyver has been slowly speaking more as time goes on without its partner Mac. After Mac was destroyed Gyver has spent much of its time in between missions looking for additional work instead of communicating with its now destroyed partner. Some have assumed this is the result of a possible relationship to Mac being lost, despite the somewhat limiting directives and code limiting Gyvers ability to form relationships. What do you like about this character? I enjoy the silent workhorse of Gyver. It prefers to observe from the sideline, jumping into action at the moment it is needed and performing its job to the best of its ability. The destruction of Mac also presents the aftermath of a partner being lost and having to work individually or with a unit that Gyver is unfamiliar with which opens up possibilities to expand on how Gyver operates beyond the factory default. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 6.5 or 7 out of 10. I enjoy adding detail to things that I roleplay but that doesn't extend to a good show of emotions which I usually fall flat on. Notes: I recognize the background is not very large but that was on purpose. Gyver is supposed to be as somewhat run of the mill IRU who is only just now starting to expand beyond the scope of his original employment. I had another character who I played with a while back but I've lost that character for whatever reason. They were a bartender but I can't remember their name.
