  1. I think this is definitely a good change, though my only concern is that AI can be somewhat rare (at least in my experience! maybe i am just unlucky) and that the whitelist could worsen that. But I think it is probably necessary.
  2. In those screenshots, I only wished to create conversation and touch on something that discomforts me within Tajara lore. I was and am not trying to attack you or the lore itself, and in fact I rather like the rest of Tajara lore with it’s examination of the life of the average citizens in the various factions and their goings-on. As you said in your reply, someone has already spoken to me about this and I do not plan to make further comments about Tajara lore.
  3. I think that HoS is probably the most difficult command role aside from maybe Captain, and while IMO your approach on the ling was a little heavy-handed it was ultimately fine and with good intent. I definitely think this could be easily fixed and that Cylean will make a good commander. +1
  4. this would be nice for those antags-have-fucked-everything-up rounds where i can't find any IV poles to fix people's brain damage with. i'd like it.
  5. I liked pulling command with their HoP! They were involved in their department and I don't have any complaints.
  6. pls i loose them all the time + 1
  7. BYOND key: PersephoneQ Character names: Sanaa Al-Mansoor [Physician] Parting Glass [Barlass] How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Since early October, I believe. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: Medical suffers from a chronic lack of CMOs, which I believe (among other things) is a contributing factor to the department's lack of new players. If I was CMO, I would make teaching and helping out interns high on my priority list, and ensure that medbay is a welcoming and comfortable space for players to RP in, new or experienced. Why did you come to Aurora?: Monomyth bugged me repeatedly and I eventually caved. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing? I have! Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? Nothing beyond a very small in-round ahelp over a mistake when I was new! My file is clean. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay is, of course, assuming and writing an identity that is not your own. I think that roleplay should be about the story obviously, but also about fun and mutual enjoyment of those around you. I think that knowing your audience and playing around other characters is incredibly important, especially when it comes to antagonists. For example, on a prior round I allowed a vampire to get my character into a secluded spot when I knew very well what they would do, if only for the sake of giving them a leg-up and a better start to their round. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame? I think the most important aspect of a Head's job on an OOC level is ensuring their department is a welcoming and comfortable space for all types of player. As I wrote earlier, I believe an issue plaguing medical is that there are few people around willing to teach interns, and the department can seem daunting and confusing when you're new. You need to teach and help new players, ensure your staff are performing their jobs realistically and staying in their lanes and keep the department cohesive, organized and of good quality roleplay. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them? Definitely to set an example. A player should be able to look at your conduct and your characters and know that they can come to you if they have questions about your specific department, advice, issues, etc. They should be able to look at your roleplay and characters and see people who act realistically, who have well-written backstories and depth,- in my opinion, it is all about being welcoming and showing others what to do and what not to do. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? Sol just got it's shit kicked in and there is a lot of instability and uncertainty surrounding the future. It is characterized, in my opinion, by the presence of far more questions than answers. What are the implications of the megacorps banding together? How will the galaxy change due to Elyra, the CoC and Biesel's territory gain? What will happen to the worlds that were formerly (and still are) under Solarian control? My CMO will be a shell, built in response to the rising need of competent medical personnel in Tau Ceti just before the outbreak of the war. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? I am only interested in CMO. I would also be potentially interested in being a consular were there an Elyran consular, but there is not currently so that will unfortunately have to wait. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking. New Character : Yhara Atiyeh How would you rate your own roleplaying? I think I am a competent and decent writer! I am not really sure how to respond to this due to the inherent bias when talking about yourself, but other people seem to agree! Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yep Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yep Extra notes:
  8. please lmao my brain is too small to keep clicking the same spot over and over while also using one hand to type out 'I'M DOING CPR GET ME X CHEM BLA BLA BLA'
  9. i would like this. nymphs are cute.
  10. I haven't been EMP'd or fought someone with an ion rifle (yet) but I can speak for the battery rework! It's so so so nice. Playing the testmerge, and then playing the few rounds between the test merge and the release without the merge was like torture. It really is a huge improvement.
  11. What it says on the title. I think that Roboticists (and maybe RD, as some of them may specialize in robotics?) should have access to medical records, as it only makes sense with their surgical implementation of augments, prosthetics, etc. Additionally, some IPC players use the medical records as a sort of maintenance / repair log, and I think that Roboticists being able to see this could open up more RP avenues / conversation topics. Thanks for considering. ^^
  12. coming to a bar near you - or - a glimpse of the past
  13. I didn't really think it'd be easy for her! She's probably gonna be a maintenance goblin for a while. ;-; For PG it was definitely curiosity. In pulling up as much media as she could find on the subject of loss and moving on, she's 'trying on' new emotions like a shirt or a pair of pants to see how they make her feel to help her understand, if that makes sense?
  14. Sure! 1: I wanted the tears to more symbolize PG's realization of herself as a person rather than a tool,- that something spontaneous could happen as a result of the shock enough to change her worldview and image of herself,- that maybe she isn't so much a tool as she thinks she is but could be her own individual with complex feelings and thoughts. I think that her having tear ducts also fits into the whole "we want these police IPCs to look and act as similar to organic police as possible so people will be more ready to trust and come to them" thing I tried to emphasize. 2: Yes! As part of her realization of personhood, PG decided to try to do something she wanted to do rather than what she was instructed to do. Bartendering seemed like the best bet as it would allow for her to socialize and talk to organics from all walks of life, viewpoints, species, to better learn from them and thus understand herself better. I admittedly assumed she could learn bartendering on-the-job, but buying the databanks for it is totally fine too! Would you like me to edit that in?
  15. BYOND Key: PersephoneQ Character Names: Sanaa Al-Mansoor, Svetlana Sidorov Species you are applying to play: IPCs Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yep. Why do you wish to play this specific race: (One paragraph minimum) I've always felt connection and pull towards races that are more, for lack of a better term, marginalized. Growing up as an LGBT person in the American south, I really relate to stories and lore of people who are disdained for who and what they are. It's the same reason why I really love tieflings,- IPCs and Tieflings are both ostracized for who they are. They may not have the same chances and opportunities as other people. They are depicted as the Other, and because of that Otherness they experience a variety of social discrimination as blatant as being turned away from a store or refused service to as small as a glare or judgmental look on the street. It is a character that I can personally relate to and use my own experiences and understandings to better write theirs. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: I think that the distinction between being a person and being a human is very important to understand in playing an IPC. Too often we use the term 'human' to describe someone that can think and feel and relate, when it seems to me that this should be adapted for sci fi or fantasy scenarios. I do not think my IPC is a human, but she is, in my mind at least, a person. I do not want to explore just what it means to be a person as her, I wish to explore the expectations and roles of machinehood and how those molds can be broken and expectations shattered. What separates IPC and Humans from one another most predominantly (and what I am most eager to explore) is, of course, their artificial creation. This has incredibly wide-reaching effects seen in everything from the way they think, to the way the public sees them, to the way the government sees them, and especially to the way they see themselves. Another core difference is in the way they think! If a synthetic wishes to learn sometihng outside of their programming (and are capable of it!) they operate on a 1:1 cause-and-effect system, and that is how they learn. To me, it is almost like a child doing things just to see what happens. They press boundaries, they cause an input to understand the output. With the output of an action learned, they can adjust their lines of thought and reasoning. backstory, name is all here https://docs.google.com/document/d/1SpLM3m9KO2Xe5MojFppoShln59JDZqZAg9NtOtohAYE/edit?usp=sharing What do you like about this character? Honestly I like everything about this character. (I did write them!) I think that I am most excited to explore the concepts of machinehood vs personhood. I do not want Glass' story to be the (admittedly) tired trope of 'can synthetic life be as valid as organic?' which is indeed fun and thought provoking. Instead, I want Glass' story to be more along the lines of 'the seeds of personhood have always been there. when these seeds sprout, how can a synthetic break the mold and roles typically expected and associated of machinehood?' Additionally, I made this for her. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1_Lcrql1GPr0tjxqaNgdhL9s59pbccNHKKmc3rvNQyEo/edit?usp=sharing How would you rate your role-playing ability? I like to consider myself a pretty good writer. My main weakness in writing is that I am poor at playing cruel or mean characters,- but I am pretty good at more lighthearted or comical characters. This does not mean, however, that I cannot play someone serious or someone tragic. I think to be a good writer, you have to have an understanding of your weaknesses and strengths and tailor your characters around that.
  16. i really really enjoy the fact that you can participate in the event without necessarily signing your char up for potential permadeath. for someone like me who super isn't into PKs, I enjoy the freedom in potentially having Sanaa die or something one round, then being able to say an off-site ODIN medical team or something managed to save sanaa, but at the cost of trauma from the events, a prosthetic limb, etc.
  17. disclosure i'm pals w/this player i've known monomyth for about two years now (they actually dragged me to this server and SS13 as a whole), roleplayed with them often and have been in many DnDs hosted by them. they're a very good writer with attention to detail and appropriate pacing of an article or lore, and have always been open to feedback and criticism with an emphasis on transparency. the stuff i've seen them write is extremely creative and unexpected, and always a lot of fun. this dude literally wrote detailed fucking menus for every tavern we could come across (including rotating specials) in one campaign. if they're made skrell loredev, you won't be disappointed. +1
  18. Title. This is a very small QoL change request that would make medical's lives a little easier. When you use vendors (NanoMeds, Sectech, Food Vendors, etc) the item you select is automatically dispensed into your hand. I think this should be applied to the chem fridges in medical, rather than them just dumping out the chem onto the counter like they do currently. Thank you for considering!
  19. I like this!
  20. click me i wasn't really sure where to put this? i haven't seen anything like this on aurorastation (that i could find, anyways!) but i enjoy making them for my characters so i figured i'd post itt on the forums. if you're interested in the format, PM me at faye#4607
  21. I'm fairly new to SS13 RP, and SS13 in general. I chose medbay for my first character, and Meltharas has always been pleasant and helpful to my constant questioning. They've taught me everything from basic game controls and administering which medications for what condition to basic surgery without ever getting frustrated or bothered throughout my mistakes and errors. I've never felt intimidated or as though I couldn't approach them OOC or IC and I think I am lucky that they were there to help me get settled in. I always look forwards to roleplaying with them. +1 They are, and will be a great CMO!
