BYOND key: abigbear

Character names:

-Yahir Na’Zirah

-Eric Bayer

-Rashaan Mi’khail

-Lachlan Wallace

-Amal Sharifullah

-Sarah Nievan

-Uzrra Al-Saiad

-Gabe Sinclaire

How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Since March of this year

Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: To further the round and story as well as guide new players, expand my character roster and access to consular characters.

Why did you come to Aurora?: I was invited here by friends who no longer play.

Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yes

Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? A couple of warnings, nothing severe.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each.

Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: The act of roleplay is creating a character and stepping within their shoes for the sake of creative storytelling and immersion. To truly roleplay you must set out a character and delve into their persona and who they are, then take the new individual created and send them into and react with an environment around them. This creates the story we all seek and drive.

What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: Heads of staff have many purposes and responsibilities. They’re expected to help guide the rounds in believable manners, maintain department efficiency by monitoring those under them and ensure people are not falling behind or drowning. They should also be putting a lot of effort in getting players involved in the round and gimmick when able! All walks with all departments, a team effort is infinitely more rewarding and memorable. They also are expected to help maintain order on the station with clear communication and instruction as well as guide new players/members to the department and game.

What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: Whitelisted players are held to a higher standard especially when playing command roles on maintaining a believable environment and stable roleplay. They are expected to be clear communicators and examples to fellow players as well as trustworthy sources that others can go to for instruction and guidance. I would strive to uphold this as by offering a stable character base and consistent play for players to approach.

Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau Ceti and how it affected your character and their career?

Tau Ceti, being the melting pot it is, has created a melting pot for cultures which is then directly influenced by almost all sides of the galaxy. For instance, with Dastgir, with the Armistice becoming a reality and the end of the War. Having worked in human resources for years, he's made his way to  Tau Ceti to find he now has to learn to put aside feelings of the past and recognize the nations. Or for Whitewall, a NanoTrasen corporate career climber, in a region still recovering from the SLF attacks, he finds himself eyeing synthetic activists skeptically having always held a humanity first viewpoint. Having been held back and passed over for promotion before for voicing his humanity first ideals, he's learned to keep face and force a smile in the name of corporate diplomacy.

What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted?

-Research Director

-Head of Personnel

-Captain

Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.:

-Rhashalii'rmirhan Khazmahr, Research Director

-Dastgir Ma’zaerral, Head of Personnel

-Thomas Whitewall, Captain

How would you rate your own roleplaying?: 7/10, I feel I deliver consistent play and make a generally positive influence with my interactions.

Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes

Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes

Extra notes: I figured it was probably time to step into the command role especially after taking a CCIA slot, be gentle, I’m squishy on the inside ?

I'm glad you finally made this app, my dude. We need more command for the dead hours. ?

I can trust you to play a head of staff in a fun, engaging manner while still upholding yourself to the standard that command-whitelisted people should. I'm really looking forward to seeing your trial to provide more constructive feedback.

i've said it before and i'll happily say it again:

bear's RP is absolutely top-tier and his inclusiveness, patience, and willingness to teach people while not faulting them for their fuck-ups (speaking from plenty of firsthand experience here as i am prone to fuck-ups) is all the signs that bear would do absolutely incredible in a command position. he specifically goes out of his way to make sure people are included, and as Borya said, more dead-hour command is sorely needed.

i'm excited to see any possible trial because i know bear would kill it ?

Way back when Eric Bayer was bear's main, he was always the 1.st spot for interim HoS - and he always delivered quality when he was put into that position.

I'm not afraid to +1 this.

I love Bear. More than that, I love his characters and I know him to be a good and mature player. He's CCIA, too. Isn't it a little weird to be CCIA and not have the Command whitelist? I think it is.

+1. Solid +1.

I like Bear a lot as a player, despite Yahir being a terrrrrrrorrrrrist, and know he can definitely RP and manage responsibility. I honestly thought he had a command whitelist already, oops. But, as I have come to despise giving empty +1s, I do have some questions. There are no real right or wrong answers here, and I just want to gauge your response.

1). As the research director, you are given a handcuffed and sedated changeling. You have two xenobiologists: one is a good player that you know, and the other is one of the players that the head of personnel gets a warning notice about at the start of the shift - they have five charges for minor infractions like abuse of communications and petty theft. The good player has a lab assistant assisting them, and the head of security urgently wants you to get the changeling into xenobiology. What do you do, and how do you ensure that your trouble xenobiologist doesn't hamstring your efforts?

2). As the head of purrsonnel (I'm sorry) you shut your office to go visit cargo, and see how they're doing. Along your way there a drunk assistant, in a grey jumpsuit and all, begins harassing you for being a tajara. You're presently outside medical's lobby and he's verbally aggressive, but not physically violent yet. However, he has said that he has a knife. What do you do here? Remember that the head of personnel gets an energy pistol and .45 pistol loaded with flash rounds.

3). As the captain a wizard warps into your office and tells you that he is here to fire you and assume control of the station on orders of central command. It's around fifteen minutes into the shift, and you have two security officers along with a detective the obligatory SSD cadet. The only other head of staff is a chief engineer, who may or may not be Oliver Roadman in this example as I rarely see anybody else playing the job. What do you do?

4). You have four officers and need to get armory access and a spare person to swipe. Three officers are very good at their job and are established security names that are generally respected, but are contractors. The fourth is a NT officer but is obviously quite new and barely speaks English, and was just charged for excessive force. How do you get armory access and the additional swipe now that there's no good candidate for interim head of security?

5). What do you plan to do on elevated alert levels as the captain or head of personnel?

I look forward to your responses!

1) This one has multiple strings attached. My goal is to further the round first and foremost while including as many people as possible. That includes the shitters. Shitters can learn and evolved if shown how. With a changeling being such a high interest to xenobiology, as director, this project is going to have my personal attention. I'm going to have my biologists move the specimen while overseeing it. If there is a routine trouble maker then I will delegate lead of this task to the reliable one, and instruct the reliable one to include *both* the assistant and the shitter. Walk them through the steps, and be there to observe and offer encouragement and/or guidance unless my attention is absolutely needed elsewhere.  We're a roleplay server first and foremost. I would rather lose control of the specimen and get valided having had a change to roleplay then taking direct command and silently moving the VALID to SECURE CONTAINMENT.

2) Back off, call security, attempt to de-escalate. Hopcurity is a sin. It's a civilian command roll and should be treated as such. That is a security matter. De-escalate if able, and let security do their part.

3) First and foremost I inform him that such orders must come down the proper chain of command. Doesn't matter if this is wizard or traitor honestly. If a CCIA command announcement comes through saying I'm to be stripped, as a loyalty implanted representative and commanding officer of NanoTrasen  the will of the company is what must be followed. If they fail to do such the answer is no, call for help discreetly and see if I can maybe talk my way out of this one. In either case, I would ask my (let's be real it's Roadman) CE to fax central regarding clarification on this order. Normal round pursues from there.

4) Reassign a contractor to warden. Other departments exist outside of security. As you'll not a HoS was not listed on my command character list. I have several HoS concepts. I don't want to fall into the routine that only security gets to interact with the antags. Another interim from another department can be made just as easily with a reliable candidate. Contractors cannot.

5) HIDE IN MY BUNKER. Kidding. Keep clear communication, coordination, and FAX central command with updates. Easy.

Bear has a lot of fun and interesting characters, and is really good at carrying stories and getting people involved. A big, strong zhan +1!

Okay, I'll be granting you a trial.

Trial begins - DEC/4/19, ends DEC/11/19

During this period, gather feedback and play command roles so we can judge your activity and quality. Good luck!

In a round of auto traitor, Bear, as his Research Director, put together an interesting RP where his Director and my Forensic Technician analysed a recovered emagging device. We analysed the device in the anomaly scanner before deconstructing it, musing on it's use, dangers, and manufacture.

It was pleasant RP and something I would have never considered doing myself. Usually, traitor items often end up stuffed into the evidence lockers after all. I think facilitating RP such as this should be an important goal for command members (and to a lesser extent although important all the same, non-command crew).

An easy +1.

Think it was your first RD round, but putting together an expedition team of around 8 people and losing nobody on the infamous death hulk shows what level of leadership we are talking about. He had a solid planing, constant overview and moving between the people asking if everyone is alright and keeping folks updated. Did not stop or forget about the RP part either, I was honestly impressed (granted you had half a team of tourists that where there for the sightseeing ^^) of how well you did and what a cool head you kept. I usually want to shoot the first officer myself after they suicide rush into an x-ray turret.

Honestly glad to see you back in your old form. Superior RP, IC memes that make sense from a lore perspective and the focus on getting everyone safely through the shift while teaching a thing or two to the newcomers.

Take my +1, if I could I would just give you my whitelist instead :P

+1 as I have continuously dealt with his Research Director as the Head of Security.

I have no clue how good he is at the science department but he is constantly active on Command radio, responds to requests in a timely manner and does an overall pretty good job at handling the logistics of faxing, alerts and beacon button smashing. He's also the most consistent RD I've seen on dead hours which is pretty important as we always need more command members on during those times.

Rhashalii'rmirhan Khazmahr has a really long name and they're scaaaary! But giggles aside, Bear is doing great as RD. They are serious about the safety of their department, do regular check-ins and assist their scientists, organize those in the department to keep them involved/best utilize them, and seem to coordinate well with other departments. Updating my +1. Nicely done, Bear!

I watched him engage in some good RP, especially with a ling that he had borged then made it do an autopsy on itself when security caught it. It made me chuckle when he claimed that two unproductive citizens became good members of society. I also had the joy of playing with them during the cat PRA ship when they were commisar a while back ago. Some good RP out of it.

+ 1 all around.

His trial's supposed to end today, I think.

If it doesn't end in him being accepted, I'll riot. Bear's highly active and plays an excellent RD who organizes expeditions, gets involved with his department and somehow manages to engross other departments as well. He takes the style and capitalizes it, and that's great. Otherwise, refer to my support above prior to his trial.
