wowzewow Posted December 18, 2019 Posted December 18, 2019 Basically this is just gonna be a addition to the discord cropped porn rule : No Fursonas, Second Life screenshots and shirtless pictures revision to fursona rule : ingame races OK. I just don't wanna see DarkWolf DeathClaw the Demon Dire Wolf in my chat about bald men smashing each other with toolboxes and medical ERP They extremely rarely contribute to any discussion of any kind. Anyway, it's mostly up to admin's discretion whether it is part of the discussion or not because it's really spammy at best and makes people extremely uncomfortable at worst, and is a lot more expedient than telling them to stop and then they yell "BuT iT's NoT AgAiNsT tHe RuLeS!"
geeves Posted December 18, 2019 Posted December 18, 2019 In defense of people with such rambunctious avatars, profile picture doesn't really tend to change anything, really. The cropped porn avatar is mostly used to """protect""" minors on our server, if you could say that. A more ideal policy / ruling in my mind would be to restrict the posting of reaction pics (of any kind, but it tends to be one of these for some reason) during standard discussion, leaving it to memes only. Though, even that is a bit totalitarian. So the ideal solution, as always, is to just not. Or, to ban everyone. That works.
wowzewow Posted December 18, 2019 Author Posted December 18, 2019 Well, I'd agree with Geeves here, on the profile picture/avatars part, honestly I'd give the most leeway here cause they're the first and most identifying thing about a user.
Guest Marlon Phoenix Posted December 18, 2019 Posted December 18, 2019 (edited) Only shirtless photos are an issue here. If seeing a kobold or an anthropomorphic animal head makes you uncomfortable then you're a boomer that I have to wonder how you've been managing to survive in this type of online community. We're an rp community. There are going to be lots of furries. What about my current forum avatar pic of a unathi? Edited December 18, 2019 by Marlon Phoenix
wowzewow Posted December 18, 2019 Author Posted December 18, 2019 (edited) Technically still counts as part as discussion as it's an in-game race, again, admin discrestion For your unathi though, allah forgive me, if it is a g*wan I will have to personally execute you myself Edited December 18, 2019 by wowzewow
Coalf Posted December 18, 2019 Posted December 18, 2019 You are right. I have had enough of this MORALLY reprehensive BEHAVIOUR of PEOPLE. Not only is it TERRIBLE that we have to look at FURSONAS and SECOND LIFE characters, but furthermore there are people who bring such things as ANIME AVATARS into the chat. Furthermore while you are TERRIFIED of the simple male form the fact is that DRAWINGS of WOMEN in BIZZARE POSES are being spread all over the internet through the use of PROFILE PICTURES. I have EMPIRICAL EVIDENCE stashed away in a folder I don't HAVE where I have RECORDED the amount of people who have POSTED with an ANIME profile picture on which CAUSES increase in lust. As someone who DOESN'T WATCH anime it makes me ANGRY and UPSET that there are people out there who do. As ANIME directly LEADS into HENTAI which leads into an UPSET STOMACH due to a lack of VITAMINS and NUTRIENTS which are wiped away due to WANK. Thank you.
Doxxmedearly Posted December 18, 2019 Posted December 18, 2019 Personally I won't be happy until we ban all users with any sort of forum or discord avatar/profile pic.
Alberyk Posted December 18, 2019 Posted December 18, 2019 Adding rules against cringe would result in the banning of around 2/3 of our discord users. But in a more serious note; no, unless it is porn or something like gore, it is fine. This feels like more a personal problem than anything, I don't really like most of the anime but I don't think we should ban people over them or whatever because someone once in a forever decides to make fun of them because of it. And if someone is spamming or derailing the discussing due to it, I guess that the best solution would be to tell them to stop. Voting for dismissal.
Scheveningen Posted December 18, 2019 Posted December 18, 2019 (edited) Guess my avatar is furry now. ? Ahegao faces and shit like that is already bannable, so I do not really see what the issue is here. You can also disable seeing avatars in settings for discord if Darkwolf McFurryDude disturbs you. Roostercat Posted December 18, 2019 Posted December 18, 2019 I dont like furries, and those kinds of profile pics do make me very uncomfortable, But this is still not necessary imo. The hard fact of RP communities is furries. Just gotta roll with it. -1

I mean when there is obvious sexual undertones in the picture. Just pictures of characters don't bug me. Like yours for example. I do not find characters that happen to be human-like animals weird, it only gets weird when it gets sexual, that's the line for me. Edited December 18, 2019 by Roostercat
Guest Marlon Phoenix Posted December 18, 2019 Posted December 18, 2019 Thats already in the rules. >:)

We're trying to run a setting and roleplay medium, not run around memeing and toolboxing each other. Actually doing half the shit or more that people 'associate' with SS13 would get you banned on the server. This thread feels more like an attempt to attack a section of the community that makes you uncomfortable than actually solve a real issue. Well, I'm uncomfortable with the obsession with SS13 meme culture in this community, but no one shuts it down when I say I think we should tone it down. Why are we obligated to censor things you dislike, but not things I dislike? Let's all just agree to be equally miserable and allow free expression. Edited December 19, 2019 by Kaed
Lady Fowl Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 This rule would be really far too objective and something most staff would not be able to keep upheld due to the poor nature of defining these pictures, on top of that its not even really needed.
BurgerBB Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 I want to share a story with everyone here. I belonged to a community called Facepunch. Facepunch owned garrysmod and rust and a community formed around that. The community got pretty big and wasn't just about gmod anymore. Facepunch had a serious problem with some of its users. They had a lot of pedophiles and furries openly expressing their interests either through text or their avatars. It was always obvious cropped animated porn avatars. Most of the moderators didn't care because they were either furries themselves or didn't see it as an issue because it was hilarious to them or they masturbated to it. I made a thread about it how we should remove the cropped porn avatars because it was tiring having to scroll down while browsing at highschool every time someone had animated porn avatars. It drew the attention of literally everyone and the support of them too, but of course furries acted like my opinion was a war crime, especially coming from someone like me who successfully quit the furry fandom and went "clean" for 3 years. There was a lot of jealousy because of it and I ended up getting constant death threats and harassment. Turns out furries and pedos who set their avatar to loli shit or furry porn weren't the most rational people, but I digress. I say all this because even as a champion of anti-degeneracy, removing furry avatars is just dumb. Yeah having your avatar to anime or furry shit is cringe, but it's not really worth banning over tbh. Having those avatars go away won't somehow stop the creepy behavior inside Aurora.
Arrow768 Posted May 10, 2020 Posted May 10, 2020 Supporting the dismissal for the reasons stated by alb. If something has a sexual undertone it will be removed.
