  1. They weren't the only ones gearing up to do what the AI asked. People were nervous and on-edge about this nuke. My own character and several others were improvising weapons and preparing for either 1) A security purge or 2) To kill each other as the AI asked, to avoid being exploded by the nuke. The tension was clear and everyone was paranoid (A good gimmick, in the end). Many in cargo were saying that security's little charge was going to get us killed; we had no reason to believe anything you or the captain was saying about the AI "making up codes" or being unable to actually detonate it. Hell, the guards you sent to keep order were at risk of getting killed by several itchy trigger fingers, mine included. It's not bad RP to be afraid enough of an antag to give in to their demands, depending on your character. I agree with Prate; seems like a reasonable action to me, given the gimmick, display of power by the AI, security ignoring demands of said AI, and the prevalent feeling of tension and fear gripping the station. I guess the only question here is if it counts as a gank. If it was while you were typing, then yes, that's pretty low form.
  2. This is why. A lot of the vocal part of the server rips into anyone who tries to make an interesting round that doesn't involve death and dismemberment (And then wonder why security chases after them and tries to keep people safe in their departments). When you try to come in with a gimmick of being peaceful (Even if your intentions are to go loud later), people will always attempt to poke holes in your story immediately; it happens on merc, heist, and (unfortunately) rev. Not saying there shouldn't be investigations or skepticism, but most people will know what you're up to and try to justify any way to prepare for you or avoid you. Security will stalk you. And then if you don't kill, there's no shortage of OOC salt, which works to deter people from trying different things. Not that violence/killing based gimmicks and antags are bad! But right now they feel like the ONLY option. I like this idea just as something to implement, but I don't think this solves the question posed. As Ornias said, it will make things formulaic. Honestly, if people want better antags, then they have to be more patient with players who are trying to learn the ropes and create gimmicks, so they can get practice in. There's a reason we see the same people as antags a lot of the time; we're pretty unforgiving as a community to people trying to learn antaggery. Ultimately, an interesting idea. It's something I agree we need to work on, and it's a solid base to work with. I think Sytic poses some good thoughts, and I want to see those discussed. (Also god please more TC, please more different antags at the same time) edited to clarify my thoughts
  3. The bar area could use an O2 locker or two.
  4. Simply put, you're going to need to prove you've changed. This is going to be a big talking point. I'm sure the staff will have words about this. So let's start the talking. Here's the thread that this is referencing. There's SEVERAL issues at play here. The first is, obviously, your immature attempt to evade CCIA actions and protest. But okay, let's say we can scratch that off; it's been four months, you admit it was immature, maybe you've cooled off since and recognize your mistake. I don't 100% buy it, but, I like to believe in people. There's also the issue of you wasting staff time. Syn and Abo and Matt aren't out to get you. They're doing what their responsibilities, which they volunteer for, entail, to keep the server from melting down into chaos. I'm skeptical that you won't just be the center of more staff actions and IRs should you be reinstated as command. What I see as the main issue here? Your attitude. OOC attitude matters for command whitelistees. This is why. Frankly put, the attitude you've displayed since my time on the server is... well, it's not good. The last few threads you've been involved in are examples of this. Do you think you have a more level-head than you've shown us before your temporary departure from the server? Price was one of the characters I spent time playing with, as I was learning the ropes of Security as Sunny. I'm afraid I can't pull up specific examples, as you've been gone for four months, but playing with Price was... unpleasant? I do have to echo Paradox's sentiments to some degree: Price's game plans leaned on aggression. Communication was basically nonexistent (Which really came to a head in the za bound canon round). I don't miss his command, to be blunt. And now that I have a command whitelist, I can say I think it would have been troublesome to work with him. Do you feel that there are areas you can improve on? Do you plan on doing anything differently at all, as Price? Another big question that's been a talking point for command lately: Communication. How do you feel about your abilities to communicate, especially with other heads of staff? There's been a problem lately of many command staff butting heads, rather than talking and working together. What would your plans be when it comes to communication, especially during hectic rounds? How would you handle working with other command staff that Price (Or you) might not like (Such as Jawdat?) I'm going to remain neutral at this time, until further discussion takes place. I won't support a trial for you just yet.
  5. Basically the title. Just like how you can empty a plant bag into an all-in-one grinder, it would be nice to be able to dump pills into it (by clicking on it with the bottle in hand), rather than having to pluck them out of the bottle one at a time.
  6. The time in Ben's suggestion is good, I think. Launch when the shuttle does, or a countdown to launching with a manual input. Mostly, I really like the idea that there would be a way to re-route the pod to a syndicate retrieval area. As it is, it feels like antags just... end up getting caught if they stay on the station, or have to make up some reason to get on the shuttle. It feels like there's no out. Rather than an e-mag, though, I wonder if it would be possible to just have a coordinate entry on the manual pod launch console, where you could enter your uplink code or a generated random coordinate number to unlock a destination other than "Odin." I say this because I don't want people to have to feel like they need to allocate for an emag if they want to escape.
  7. Great addition. Seems like a really excellent character. Good luck!
  8. Alright. An interesting app, since I was present for the discussion that happened that I presume kicked off your desire to make this application. I'd agree. I've been playing chemist daily and pretty much play a round with Fernando once a night. The LOOC salt has been reduced. I still think you need to continue to work on this, though. I have a lot of respect for you, as you're one of the people who I see in OOC asking for people to be kind to each other... but then sometimes I see the same behavior from you. It's getting better, and I think you're a person who can take feedback and improve; the lack of repeat notes/warnings is a good indicator of this. You can still keep doing better, IMO, but I think you're definitely dedicated to being critical of yourself. You can be hot-headed sometimes, as can we all. I see it more as I pay attention to your hosted discord server, where people vent their gripes about the server. The other day, I found myself agreeing with Abo, Alb, and Goret. You and people close to you were, in my opinion, putting the staff on blast unfairly. I worry if this will affect your ability to work as part of a team. However, this is just a worry; I think a trial would showcase whether or not you really can handle working alongside staff members that you may or may not like. I will say that I like that the conversation in question helped encourage you to make this app; it shows that you want to actually contribute and do something to help, rather than just complain. I think a trial would be good; it could give you some needed perspective on what the staff deals with and how they handle things the way they do. I do worry about meta issues. You're very close to someone who has problems with staff. There's a cliquey vibe going on sometimes with medical + your discord. I know you say you can be impartial, but I really do want you to consider this. You may have to do things that can lead to close friends being banned, warned, punished, etc. Sometimes you'll be the only mod on, and you've already stated that you want people to answer ahelps in a timely manner. You might not have a choice but to answer and be impartial, so do consider this as you go forward. I was more concerned about this app before seeing your interview (Which was very impressive) and dialogue with coalf. I have no doubt that this will be a contentious app to some; even I'm not totally sold- I like you, Resi, but I can't be dishonest with you. I have no idea how you'll do, or if you're a good fit for a moderator position. But I can support you getting a trial, at the very least. If anything, understanding how staff operates firsthand will be a good thing for you.
  9. Insert my usual support for Fresh's abilities here. Seriously, though, I don't just say these things. Fresh is one of the most consistently excellent RPers, who holds several whitelists, and several characters of each; not only does this show a genuine enthusiasm for all of the xenos he plays, but a grasp on multiple facets of the lore of each and every one. I don't believe that this whitelist, like the others, was simply made on a whim. He's not afraid to ask questions from players and lore members to make SURE he understands what he's going into. I don't feel that many people have anything negative to say about him; his characters are good, believable, and fun, and he's an active and kind member OOCly. As for Dead-Lift (Once again, Fresh proves to be the best at character names), I like it. Yes, an extremely wealthy Eridani would probably PREFER a Bishop frame for showcasing their wealth, but not all of them are mega-rich. I think a baseline with the Bishop brand serves as a good middle ground for showing off, as well as serving the role of doing things they're too lazy to do. What I want to know is... more about Dead-Lift. We know the story, but... how did they feel about being changed hands? How did that affect them? IPCs are capable of forming opinions and bonds and so on, so while it may go along with illegally switching hands umpteen times, I want to know how it feels about it, and its current situation. How do you feel it will interact with the crew? Overall, you seem to get IPC lore and I know you have the RP abilities to pull it off. +1 from me.
  10. Essh is a very good character, and your roleplay abilities are great. You've proven in a short time that you're more than capable with upholding whitelist standards and have a good grasp on lore. I very much like Asmar, as well. A short and to the point backstory that paints a realized character and understanding of the main themes of Tajaran politics. His desires are deviant, his political affiliation is present, and the fact that he used his power for his own personal agenda is... really excellent. And now he wants to make up for his misdeeds and (presumably also) his deviant lifestyle and depraved indulgences? Awesome. This is a character who would be interesting to speak with, and really I would like to see develop. If I have any concerns with you, it's that Essh seems to be job-hopping. A lot. I'd really like to see you pick one or two and stick with it. But otherwise, I think you're a great RPer and person, and it's a solid app. +1 from me.
  11. Security flaws are interesting. The warden would have more reason to patrol. Maybe something subtle, such as some of the shocked grilles being unwired, or maybe a random tool spawns in the garbage can in communal, or some of the reinforced windows being unsecured (So they can be pulled or wrenched). Something that takes a bit of subtlety and experimentation to discover. Iso should remain tough to escape, however. Breaking in to the armory... Well, not sure. I feel like it gets broken into often enough. Breaking in to two reinforced walls seems reasonable for keeping an armory secure. As far as the weaponry suggestions... Well. Some time ago, I would have agreed with this. However, NT does prepare for the potential threat of pirates and Syndicate forces, not just space carp and internal crew matters. Still, you could justify your suggestion with that. But now we have lore to consider; Lii'dra are around. The station has been attacked before, and more than once. I think the current armory setup is reasonable given these threats. You could argue for reducing the number of laser rifles by one, I think. But for lore considerations and what NT has to prepare for, I think the current armory loadout is fine as is.
  12. Yep, really cool. Would like to see these.
  13. As for my own thoughts... Yeah, I'm with Prate. This would be cool.
  14. You better believe if my workplace said "Hey we're selling cloaks, colored by your department, that you can wear to work!" I'd be doing that. So then will you be removing winter jackets? They do the same, and have been in the loadout for quite some time now. I feel like the presented reasoning is flimsy, given the amount of jackets and outdoor wear that have always been present in the loadout.
  15. I think ideas two through five have the most merit. I'd also like to see these salts go beyond just "I can make explosions." You can definitely use phoron salts for a component in some of the toxins you may gather in your toxin suggestion thread. I know I've thrown out a lot of loose ideas, and phoron salts could easily be implemented in any of those ideas that people like. I think your thoughts two, four, and five are similar. It's more interesting to make toxins with effects rather than straight damage (We already have so much of that). Mix phoron salts and hyperzine, and suddenly you have something that halves your walking speed, for example. That's creative. Make something that has random effects (Mutations are good. It can be really creative. Maybe you can learn a new language, or suddenly you have meson vision, etc). That's awesome. I think idea three is the most interesting one to me. There's a lot of potential in changing metabolism rates of medications, both for regular medical use as well as antaggery. Adjusting these is really interesting, and a concept we don't get to play around with as chemists. You can combine the idea of speed with effectiveness. Maybe it metabolizes twice as fast, but only at 3/4 effectiveness, as an example. As a chemist, the idea of using this new reagent to adjust metabolism rates is very exciting! It would open up a good deal of possibilities. And, of course, I'm always happy to see new toxins. I will say that I really dislike idea one. Those medications are incredible already. We really don't need a plus version of them. Another idea, too, would be to consider the effects phoron salts could have for virology.
  16. Well. You've made some really excellent replies to my feedback. I'm actually really impressed with how you handled my questions. I definitely have noticed you sticking it out as command, being receptive, working as a team, and overall trying to improve the quality of everyone's time. I didn't know that it was such an epiphany for you, but I like the sentiment. Which brings me to another question/point. There is a definite problem with toxicity on the server, though I like that you try to see through it. As staff, though, you will likely be exposed to it even more, and in a more direct way. I hope you can handle it. I'll admit, you seem much more driven about it than I initially expected. You're definitely dedicated to your ideas, which for this, could be both a good and bad thing. On one hand, being driven to handle your responsibilities is great. On the other, you still need to be receptive to the reality that some ideas change in scope, and sometimes you might have to let go of some. A nice idea, if one that can even be realized. However, I don't know that this is enough to help resolve the disconnect you said you see. I'm more interested in knowing what "careful planning" and "charismatic spearheading" entail. I think any disconnect is going to have to involve some OOC changes, as well. There are tons of OOC gripes about regs and the IR system, for example. I hope you can work together with the team to plan some changes for the better. I don't have any trouble believing this, coming from you. Still looking forward to your interview questions, but, honestly? I'm really impressed with your dedication and how seriously you're taking this. Enough to give my +1, for whatever it is worth.
  17. I think Geeves is a pretty upstanding member of the community, as IJ said. They're an excellent command player and know the regulations well enough to be a good CCIA member. They're active, and have showcased the ability to work together as command staff. You're mature and I have no problems envisioning you working autonomously or in a team setting. Overall, this is good. But I'm not going to say I don't have some minor concerns. First and foremost, the other day you were talking about potentially leaving Aurora for another server. Later on you told me you enjoyed the server after some good roleplay, and it's why you stuck around. Still, I have to wonder. Do you plan on sticking around with the server? The last thing CCIA needs is another person who is active for a short time, then fades away or leaves. Being staff means doing more work, and some of it won't be fun. You're taking on the responsibility to do this, and the team is going to need to be able to depend on you. Do you still feel like you might be hesitant on sticking around, or becoming less active? How do you think this will affect your desire to stay active here? As well, you've had some criticisms of CCIA. What do you think are some issues that should be addressed, and how do you plan to work on these as a team member? I worry that you may get discouraged if it's not what you expect it to be, or if you can't bring all of your changes forward. And finally, just out of curiosity, how do you feel about your ability to remain impartial if IRs/faxes involve friends or people you don't get along with? I'm going to remain neutral for now; you're a good guy, and a friend, and so I owe it to you to be fair and honest. I'd like to see your answers to these questions and your interview before I decide to toss in my support.
  18. It seems like a good QoL update for cargo, honestly. Shuffling funds as an HoP is really obnoxious. I think the assumption is that you received the necessary permission from your head. If not, well, then that's on the fault of the one placing the order, the tech, or both. And that's still RP. Perhaps even paperwork to cover it would be good. Fill it out, get it stamped, bring it to cargo. Or get verbal approval and deal with the paperwork later. If there's no head... use your best judgement. It really opens up a lot of freedom, and makes purchases less obnoxious. People paying for department goods with personal funds is stupid, even if we try to spin the "Oh yeah you get reimbursed later" excuse. This opens up pretty decent antag options regarding funds, too. Cargo techs could use up other funds for items... Frame other employees... Heck, if we had paperwork for this, you might actually see a forgery kit get purchased from the uplink.
  19. Most comments I have were already put eloquently by Conspiir, so I'll just post my agreement with their points presented. Additionally, it makes very little sense from an IC standpoint. Most businesses and companies don't have set breaks; people take their lunch at their preferred times. People use their 15 minute breaks to either lounge around, go for a walk, take a phone call, etc. And people do this on station, too. I understand it's not mandatory but even the suggestion of an official break time seems really weird for the setting. An alternative would be to mix in a notice to the typical CC reminder announcement rotation that says you should take your breaks, along with a reminder that the service department exists for employees. As for the suggestion as written... No, for previously stated reasons.
  20. I actually find myself agreeing with Burger. I don't hate the idea of obnoxious, socially-inept, immature characters. But it's gotten to the point where instead of being even remotely believable, he's a caricature of negative traits. It's getting harder and harder to suspend my disbelief that Shane would remain employed in any job. Screaming over the radio is also becoming more than just irritating ICly. Additionally, sometimes Shane's antag gimmick is just "be slightly more annoying than usual." This isn't good. Nobody says your gimmick has to involve killing, or raiding the vault, or whatever, but just being a larger nuisance doesn't tend to add much to the round. I've had to shift around some exploitable info because he either did the same gimmick with it every time, or just decided that he would just use it as a minor insult before running off. If he's going to antag, he has to change it up now and then, and take more impactful actions. I think you need to dial back the overt immaturity. Running around in costumes with foam weapons is something I'd expect on Paradise. Sure, maybe he wants to carry a foam sword around, or wear a silly mask or hat. But full costume, brandishing the fake weapon, running around screaming and shooting people with darts? It doesn't fit the environment. You can show Shane's immature personality without being so OOCly obnoxious about it. As Burger said, he feels very center-stage. There's a difference between wanting to be the center of attention ICly vs OOCly. Right now it feels more the latter, which is bad for a roleplaying game, which is cooperative by nature. I think showing the effects of Shane's perceived bullying is something you should explore more, with more people, instead of just using it as your "I've snapped" traitor gimmick. I find it very hard to interact with him with ANY character, which is kind of a shame? I think you rely too much on his clique (At this point, I'd even call it a metaclique). It may be time to allow more people to have extended interactions with him that don't involve him just saying something stupid/insulting and running off to do something ridiculous. Not even chair RP; just three sentences of a normal conversation would be a great start. You may wish to seek more help ICly (therapy, etc) to further personality shifts. Overall, I think Shane can be a good "love-to-hate/dislike/etc" character, who can still be immature and socially obnoxious yet believable... but right now everything about him seems far too extra, to the point of being unbelievable OOCly. I don't know about this. Critique is not an easy thing to face. Nobody wants something they've worked on and enjoy to be dissected publicly, even if it is a necessary step to improvement. But seeking it is important, and I think this is a good move.
  21. Fresh has done a great job so far in a stressful role. I particularly like how dedicated he is to handling the fact that security often gets away too much with regulations-breaking (excessive force, neglect, etc) via IC means, keeping a close eye on them without breathing down their necks. I hope he continues to try and improve his ability to communicate, which has so far been very good, though falters under high-stress instances. That isn't a complaint; most of us are unable to keep up when autotrator hits the fan at maximum velocity. You're doing good so far. Keep it up and keep trying to better yourself.
  22. -1, too cowardly to ERP with me
  23. Cool. Quick and sloppy ideas: Sleepytime tea - 5 parts tea, 1 part soporific. Sweet tea - 2 parts sugar, 1 part iced tea Milk tea - 1 part tea, 1 part milk Bubble tea - 2 parts iced tea, 1 part soda water (I guess?) Honeyed Tea - 2 parts tea, 1 part honey Berry Iced Tea - 1 part iced tea, 1 part berry juice Hot berry tea - 1 part tea, i part berry juice Spiced Tea - 5 parts tea, 1 part (capascin? or space spices?) Wish Tea - 1 part Wish Soup, 1 part ice Half-and-Half tea: 1 part iced tea, 1 part lemonade Potatea: 1 part tea, 1 part potato juice (why) Mocha Tea: 1 part milk tea, 1 part cacao No ideas for herbal tea. edit: If people are interested in this idea, I am more than happy to write descriptions for them. I would not call myself a spriter, but I can do some basic stuff, as well.
  24. I didn't really know you were applying. Sell yourself more in OOC, nerd. I'm not 100% sold that an office worker translates to xenoarch just because they can carry things carefully. It involves EVA, careful mining, planning, etc. This, to me, is the weakest part of an otherwise strong application. Perhaps if the office work was related to science/archaeology in the past, it would be more believable. As it stands now... I just don't see it. However, I throw my support fully behind your RP abilities. Sei is an excellent character who doesn't just wordlessly treat patients. I've no doubt you can play an IPC properly on-station. As well, your answers to the questions are very good. You've my +1 in this regard.
  25. A pretty solid app. I've seen some really, really great RP from you, and no doubt you can play a believable and well-rounded character. And because you're good, I'm going to ask you a few questions to help round out your character and further establish your understanding. I don't play on Bay, but our lore is not their lore, and so I just want to make sure your understand Unathi for Aurora. -Why did her father choose to flee when injured rather than take an honorable death as Guwandi? -Why go to Tau Ceti rather than to the humans and skrell on Ouerea? -What are her thoughts on the contact war, both growing up, and in present time? There are a lot of merits in this app. You understand the role of unathi women, and that her path is an uncommon one. She experienced failure and reasonable hardships growing up. You've worked in the idea of "wrong" souls being placed in another body, which is a theme I wish was explored more among players. Her father justified her actions and decided to seek a spiritual explanation and assist her, which is a really refreshing tidbit. I'd like to see answers to my posed questions, but you're not obligated to. Whether you do or don't, I feel like, at this time, I can throw my support behind this app. +1
