  1. As a side note for newbie miners, here's a lazy counting method while we await a potential rework: Alt + Click the tile the stacks are on to bring it up in the "turf" tab in the upper-right. All full stacks are fifty (Unless someone messed with the stacking default), so multiply the number of stacks by fifty. It's way less laggy than right clicking. Examine the stacking machine console. Jot down the numbers BEFORE forcing an incomplete stack out. After writing them down, force the stacks out. Still a pain in the ass but it's a decent way to get around byond slowing you down. CTs can use this method, too, since they have access. It'd be a time saver to automate this paperwork. Would be cool as EoR stats, as Flam said.
  2. I still don't feel as you've done much improvement since your first app, which was just earlier this month. Perhaps you're making strides I haven't noticed, but I still think you have improvements to make before a trial from the play that I have noticed. I maintain my -1 for now.
  3. That could be the shift we're seeing, and if that's how people enjoy their free time on spacegame, then power to them. There's a problem with enforcing this, IMO. You cannot stop me from making unique characters who want to play in the "hugbox" or whatever term we're using on the internet these days. I can get a whitelist, prove I know the lore, and make a unique character within the confines of that lore who has their own personal reasons for not being xenophobic, or spitting on guwan, or w/e, and still be playing a character who is realistic within the lore. And because you can't stop this on an individual level, there's not much to be done if a majority of players ALSO want to play that way and make such characters. It's just how the community shifts as old guard leave and fresh new faces log in. I agree that this is a problem, but it's nothing that you can enforce as lore staff. On the other hand, I've been on the receiving end of nonstop irritating criticism for playing "hugbox" characters, like a guwan who wasn't a total asshole, as one example, It got to the point where I had to stop playing them. I'm with you in that the community can be an extremely irritating mob of "critiques" that aren't much more than personal gripes and insults, and I would love to see that stop. I enjoy seeing rude characters, and I enjoy seeing kind characters. It's pretty upsetting that people can't experiment or have freedom to play certain characters due to this. Should people be free to make discriminatory/inflammatory/xenophobic characters without backlash? Yes, absolutely! But I also think it's not a problem that people want to play friendly characters. Being friendly and accepting does not make a character bad any more than being xenophobic makes a character interesting. The problem is when that spills into OOC, or when metacliques start mobbing a person, for making the choice to play someone less than totally friendly. I think this is a bit of an overexaggeration? Mostly the use of "everyone" and saying that they're not following lore. My human not hating vaurca isn't me not following lore. My unathi who keeps his distaste for synthetics inside to keep up appearances at his job as a command member isn't ignoring lore. I'm sorry if you want to play a character who experiences discrimination (like vaurca) and aren't getting it (I empathize), but people are free to make xenophiles. edit I like this. There's a lot of subtle xenophobic plays that I've seen people do.
  4. We could argue that a paper report is better for on-station personnel to check productivity. There's reason for it to be there, though I admit I see nothing wrong with the idea of pretending one was automatically filed with central. Though on-site managers are usually the ones expected to gather productivity crunch numbers and submit them to corporate, so I can see a use in having the station collect and file yields. JB's last idea isn't a bad one, either. The stacking machine counts and organizes the product. Why not have a button that just says "Print Report" and have a yield completed that just needs names and a signature?
  5. 10/19: Edited for characters I'm back to playing. Rowan's the cargo tech dreg that helped kickstart the trend of dregs being incomprehensible. Moth is my stationbound. It enjoys lights and calls roboticists mom. Other characters I play frequently: Sunny (Sikaevi Suhn'Krashzkrikh) - Ouerean detective who's been around the longest of my cast. Autumn Peachwell - Frontier miner with a heart of gold, drawl of molasses, and love of industrial mechs. Sybil Albatross - Part time CE, part time teacher, loves her quirky students and workers, and has pride in Republic of Biesel Moxie Maksell - Cave Johnson inspired roboticist who's only love is science All feedback is appreciated as I try to improve. Thanks.
  6. Echoing this. Ryder was a headache to deal with in medical back when you started here with him. I don't know if you've improved since, but seeing Ryder was enough to make me want to stop playing as a co-chemist, and playing my EMT while Ryder was around was a headache because he was always THERE in treatment. I find myself agreeing with Cactus and Ornias here, so I'm not going to repeat their points beyond what I already mentioned. I've noticed much of the same as them and it's pretty consistent. You can improve a lot, but until you do, I can't say I'd like to see you handle any sort of command role. -1
  7. Long overdue in my opinion. Wholeheartedly agree. It's very easy to miss.
  8. I've always liked nursie and the decisions she's made, though I haven't interacted with her much personally. I'd like to see her on trial again; she's done well in the past, and seems willing to work on the issues with herself that she recognizes. Though if such things aren't worked on, then I suppose I don't think she'd have the proper demeanor to be staff. A trial period would be good to see if she's dedicated to the role and to changing herself for the better. +1
  9. Hmm today I will celebrate both my birthday and my 1 year Aurora anniversary.

  10. Hello. The meaning here (I believe) is that the miners are under no obligation to bring the hauls physically to science; that should be the domain of cargo techs and quartermasters. If there aren't any, I'd say it's perfectly reasonable for a miner to go "Hey your mats are in, send somebody for them" and give an assistant or lab assistant something to do for 2 minutes.
  11. I also have to echo Schev's initial sentiments, though I'm more skeptical about your ability to calm yourself than they are. When I think about the people whose constant belittlement of others and general toxicity led to me muting OOC and leaving the main discord, your name appears on that list. You can be nice when you want people to get excited about things, such as lore, and you've answered peoples' questions on Vaurca patiently enough, which is a positive thing for you. But schev pointed out your general trend of being abrasive, which has been a pattern I've seen little improvement on. Moderating will lead to people being snappy with you out of frustration. You'll have people questioning your rulings, and making complaints, and salting at you. The way I've seen you respond to negativity is to snap back and get heated, which is something staff needs to try to be above. Were it up to me, I would not give you a trial at this time. But I won't throw a fit if you get one. I'd like to see you being patient and courteous, but I have reservations about whether or not you can. I hope these concerns will be unfounded. I'll also please ask that you do not DM me about this; RTNP asked for more feedback here, and this is my honest contribution of such. This will be my only post.
  12. Seems like a similar QoL idea to when we moved the phoron canisters and shield locations for engineering (Which is great). Removes some of the tedium. Seems like a solid short-term solution with potential for implementing your long-term ideas. Honestly, this is exactly why science is the only department I haven't played extensively. I like it.
  13. I knew you played B-4, but Oscar, too?! That's the best chaplain I've ever seen around. B-4 is a legendary stationbound. Outstanding RP and your synthetic play as B-4 is something of a role model for other synth players. A strong +1
  14. hmm today I will wonder why matt isn't posting more.

  15. I've had to mute and lose out on a lot because of the general dickery of this community. I started by leaving the main discord, which is a cesspool of dickishness. I left the relay discord because OOC became the same. I muted OOC in-game because people just can't stop being awful to each other. I've almost quit entirely. And this is just from what I'm seeing; none of it was directed at me, but it was still just so... exhausting. And incredibly disappointing. There are people who I cannot believe have not been banned or warned for the vitriol they spew and antagonistic attitude they promote, and many of them are staff. "Don't be a dick" is a great rule. It's not enforced. It's not a great look for us, especially with the amount of new players we've had (Some trolls, some legitimately interested newbies). Warnings need to be given out more liberally. It's kind of sad to me that people will still be fine to spew "retarded" and "autistic" as negative words. It's less about people being offended or policing and more about behaving like reasonable adults who understand their word choices have meaning. I'm disappointed, but not surprised, given how online communities tend to work. Still, any improvement is welcome. I hope at least some headway can be made with enforcing "don't be a dick" to quell some of the hatred of this community, but I doubt I'll be rejoining the discords or unmuting OOC regardless.
  16. Can't add much that hasn't already been said better. Even without the absolute tremendous amount of lore, effort, and work he puts into everything he does (which is frankly as unfathomable to me as it is impressive), he's the best candidate based on attitude alone. I've never seen someone so active in looking for opinions and ideas as Kyres has been. He wants to find out what people think are problems with lore and seek ways to solve them; I've witnessed him asking for and accepting feedback for as long as I've known he was a deputy. Not to mention, he's been consistently active for a long, long time, which I feel is a pretty big draw for a lore dev, considering we've seen so many who seem very distant. I've only good things to say about Kyres and this app. Biggest +1 I can give.
  17. Since calling it like it is gets your post deleted, I'm just going to second Abo's reply.
  18. The lore seems solid, the mechanics are interesting, and the way you are gathering feedback and planning to introduce them are wonderful. I'm very much in support of this addition. Great job.
  19. I have to echo the sentiments about the bureaucracy sprites. The bins are very odd, and while the pens are nice, they're... huge. The lighter/watch/cleanbot look really nice. I've also enjoyed the grinder sprite. You do good work, but some things seems like they don't fit.
  20. I would also like to vouch for Melodic. She's a very passionate and friendly person, and was one of the players who really inspired me to keep coming back when I was new here. She has always, always been open to criticism and seeks to improve herself, as her past whitelist apps have shown. It may be a rough start as she gets used to the motions, but I think she can handle it. +1
  21. Ah, now that clarifies it. Though I don't think reminding other departments that the decision lies with medical is restricting any characters rights to say what they want. They can say what they want and maybe that influences medical's opinion. Maybe not. And while they can make demands, they carry no real weight. This isn't a restriction, it's a reminder. I do firmly agree that medical should not HAVE to clone anyone if they don't want to and it's reasonable. The wiki clarification on DNC would be a nice addition, I think.
  22. Strange ruling, as I didn't think crimes prevented cloning. Maybe I'm mistaken.
  23. Then these situations should be ahelped as well. They should know their jobs as much as security is expected to know their own. At the very least, one should know that ISD has no command over what medical does. I think a wiki clarification regarding making people DNC couldn't hurt, especially to help those who are newer players or newish to medical. There's nothing on there regarding it except for suicide from what I could see looking at the doctor job guide and medical guide. Something along the lines of "Breaking Regulations is not grounds for a DNC, and no department outside of medical cannot demand that a body not be cloned. A CMO or Captain can establish a DNC order with sufficient cause. The person must still be cloned if able, and handed to ISD custody after they are stable." Though worded, you know, better. Not a regulation or directive, but a clarification under cloning guides.
