The End of Aurorastation. A 2022 Retrospective.
Butterrobber202 replied to Kintsugi's topic in Off Topic Discussion
mashallah -
Hello, thanks for applying! I can tell you've done research into previous apps and the wiki. The application itself is a bit on the small side, but seeing as this is your first application, its understandable. It often seems daunting the first go around. Here's some questions for you: 1. How does Xim feel about Synthetics? Especially since they are in the same "possibly taking my job" position as the Bound were. 2. Does Xim have any lasting feelings about Vaurca or just the C'thur specifically? 3. With their lower social credit score, does Xim harbor any resentment towards the Federation for their treatment or have they accepted it as the status quo? 4. How does Xim's Quya feel about their situation? 5. What is Xim's favorite food outside of the Federation?

add triglyceride chemical canisters to operations ordering
Butterrobber202 replied to Butterrobber202's topic in Archive
trade secret. Also didn't know about the butter, thanks! Nitroglycerin the big one, but it can be combined with other chemicals to make pretty cool results. But, since we're a well-funded operation, I didn't think easy access to triglyceride was out of the question. -
add triglyceride chemical canisters to operations ordering
Butterrobber202 posted a topic in Archive
I don't want to have to bust into the chef's freezer and kill 20 pigs every round to play with funny science chemicals, PLEASE!!!!! triglyceride is the key ingredient for Glycerol, which is used in some esoteric chemical recipes. since this involves the cargo ordering list, @Arrow768 is summoned to weigh in. -
I like this a lot. You display awesome understanding of the lore and clear effort in gathering plenty of information before making your application. The way you handled your character's usage and feelings towards Psionics hit my buttons in all the right places. Nonetheless, I am here to attack you with an onslaught of questions! 1. Tii'Qi's favorite food? Since you had spent time on Europa, maybe they have a Solarian favorite and a Skrell favorite! 2. Very clever nerfing of a lore-accurate but mechanical infeasible concept with the psionics burnout. Skrell also have a strange connection to piloting ships and navigating the stars, psionics included. This isn't quite a normal question, but do you think this bit of lore would be a good piece to incorporate in your character's story? 3. Tii'Qi has two depth college degrees, putting them at a minimum of 80 years, plus your 30 mention years, has you at around 110 years of age. Placing you firmly in Supernova Age Skrell territory. I'm pretty sure you knew this already, from how you described your Quya's reaction to your birth. That has you born a whopping (approx.) 20 years after first contact with Humanity. That is a really really slim bit of time for Skrell, can you (very briefly) tell me how your Quya felt about first contact and how their attitude may have affected Tii'Qi?

Hi. I have a proposed rework for the psionics systems. I need someone with coding knowledge to actually code it. I only have entry-level knowledge of DM, so I can not do this myself. So, I've posted a bounty for the completion of this project. The scope is rather large, and demands a ground up rework of the psionics system and the addition of a lengthy catalogue of different abilities covering both canonical and antagonist play. That said, I'm posting a bounty of 100 USD for its completion. You can message me for details on the project, though it would be nice if, in the event you take on the project you declare it in this thread so we don't have multiple people working on the same project. Q&A: I can be contacted reliably at Butterrobber202#1542 on discord.

CampinKiller - IPC Whitelist Application
Butterrobber202 replied to CampinKiller's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
get this man a WL so help me god campin is a good apple and one of our prominent players, he’s got a long record of good RP and I know a good chunk of people certainly enjoy Logan Wright. (apply for Skrell) -

Let the round end vote be startable on Code Red
Butterrobber202 replied to Carver's topic in Policy Suggestions
I don't think we should change it. Code Red is a tool to allow the players in round to oocly force an extension until the current round is brought to a resolution. That tool being in place is preferable to a bunch of ghosts that may have the numbers to force a transfer despite active RP. -
Best Tech in The Spur? [Open Discussion]
Butterrobber202 replied to Zelmana's topic in Lore Questions
Canon tech levels are not firmly established, but I believe the rankings go: Skrell, Vaurca (Pre-Exodus), Humans, then everyone else. But this is general tech level, megacorps are likely to be the leaders in their respective specializations. -
Make bluespace jumping mechanically supported/round ending
Butterrobber202 replied to kyres1's topic in Archive
I think this is a great idea, its the best way to merge in-game mechanics and our setting's lore. -
hello, please add reinforced glass roofs so we can maintain those pretty viewing holes down into the lower decks without having a single breach vent the entire center column of the ship. You can't hear speech between levels as it is, so this effectively does not nerf anything, while safeguarding engineers everywhere from suicide.

https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/15003 This can be closed. turns out what I was after already exists in the code, Cultists just weren't configured to spawn with it.
-
oh. No not just the cult language. That's just a local thing. I'm talking about how the communication rune functions as a long-distance secure communications channel. I'm asking to have that communication function be something that they can use without employing a tome or rune. Like maybe it emotes out them scribing on their flesh or something. Communication just needs to be smoother and faster.
-
am I insane or has cult just not rolled in so long
-
Almost every other team antagonist mode has a quick and easy way to communicate with each other, usually in the form of a radio. Cult is not only a team gamemode, but one that requires heavy amounts of coordination to pull of successfully. The number one reason cult rounds tend to devolve into chaos is the fact the cult members can not effectively communicate with one another and plan out their movements ICly. It's been standard practice for years on other servers to have the communication rune be something cultists can do without the aid of a tome or needed to scribe the rune on the ground each time, and I believe its time Aurora adopted this mechanic as well. I imagine this working like the other basic cult powers, such as Appraise Offering. Its also completely fine if its highly noticeable and visible if the Cultist does this infront of others, as using a radio is just as noticeable, it just needs to be quick and free..

I based my solution on how Geneticists previously worked, as Carver said. It was a non-issue 99% of the time. As the RD and CMO rarely had conflicting interests. Additionally, here, the RD only can order the Machinists around while in Science. This is not at all like the Service Manager, as they had authority. The Machinist is just listening to an already established command member inside their department. I don't see new players hitting machinist in particular either. And, again, its not a very hard concept to grasp, new or not.
-
couldn't we keep them in Ops (no megacorp fuckery) and give them the research channel and some access? OM has final say over them, RD has final say in their department.

I think both AI and Cyborgs suffer because no one has bothered to update their role since 2016. They still operate with nearly identical limitations and guidelines as back then. I think the best move would be not removing them, but having the staff take a critical look at their place on the ship, in the corporations, and how to adjust their role to fit in with those things, in addition to player expectations.

Staff Complaint - WickedCybs
Butterrobber202 replied to Butterrobber202's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
The wording and focus in the ticket, as I recall, was focused on me using LOOC for trivial matters outside the scope of its intent. It’s been awhile and my only real desire is to see LOOC’s usage codified. I’m not looking to drag this complaint into things we don’t appreciate about one another. I’ll wait for rooster’s take on it, and that’ll be all. -
Staff Complaint - WickedCybs
Butterrobber202 replied to Butterrobber202's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
I guess my complaint logic was that I was noted for misuse without a guideline in place, which made me feel it was more of a staff issue. I don't care about the warning itself, because I'm not intending to repeat the offense, I just wanted the ruling in a readable page rather than "LOOC is for X" unwritten rule. Spamming is not what I was doing or warned for, since spamming is already against the rules. I was noted for not using LOOC for its unwritten intended purpose.
