Voting for dismissal for above stated reasons. It is pretty pointless to store lethal gas in a tooth and expect not to breath it in

[2 Dismissal Archived] Add the IIS Module to the Paramedic RIG

Can be printed by robotics easily. Therefore voting for dismissal -
Hm, yes I see now that assistants are needed. They just need to be dealt with properly. keinto Do you also think this can be closed ? Removing assistants alone will just lead to the greytiders joining visitor, and there are actually people trying to play decent assistants. The idea of adding a bridge secretary/assistant would be worth its own suggestion thread imho. (Altough heads of staff can already do that if they want to, so its also a bit redundant)

[2 Binned] i120 Disregard of Area Regulations.
Arrow768 replied to Butterrobber202's topic in Archive
I am voting for dismissal since this is already covered by multiple other regulations and not really a development issue -
The IAA is whitelisted. Making the Lawyer a alt title for the IA would not do away with the whitelist requirement afaik.

Funny Fact. We talked about that a few days in the dev discord. Its one of the options that might be explored in the future

So the TL;Dr is: Devs: Automatic Mechanic to remind people to fill out their char records and "style" once they have played x rounds Lore: Provide some background for antags, especially wizards and ninjas, to work with ? ?: Create some way to encourage/involve people to read lore stuff. Devs: Make newscasters display news stories Edit: Updates with the additional points

Do we even have any gamemodes with win / lose conditions. As far as I know all the conditions are disabled. But I feel that it would be quite interesting to have a chance that a traitor spawns with these items and there being a announcement that they have been stolen.

I like the idea of making it detectable via the xenoarch scanner / the pinpointer. It might also be a possibility to scale the time to respawn with the time since their last death: last death less than 5 minutes ago: 10 minutes respawn time last death less than 10 minutes ago: 5 minutes respawn time more than 10 minutes ago: 2 minutes respawn time

In my opinion the problem with assistants is that they dont really have any responsibilities at all. Some of them try to actually help out, but then there are others. Those that engage in shady business almost every round. Those that have canon records of drug dealing and other crimes that would prevent your work on a sensitive research station. Those that try to fuck with security / the AI just to get a response. I believe that removing the assistant slot and replacing it with more low level positions can help with that, because then there is the expectation to actually do something productive in a specific department. And these low level department positions can then be used for the grunt work Regarding the requirement for the assistant slot Lohikar . The suggestion is only to replace the assistant, not the visitor slot

[2 Dismissals: Archived] Remove the Lawgiver.
Arrow768 replied to Butterrobber202's topic in Archive
Before removing any weapons I think it would be quite interesting to implement the firing pin system (that tg ? has) Where you need to insert a specific firing pin into a weapon before it can be used. But this is something for another topic. The lawgiver is easily countered by using a emp, as its a energy based weapon. If research is responsible with them and hands them to the persons that should use them, so they can immediately lock it, its nearly impossible that they are misused. There are only a handful of weapons that do something interesting. Thats why I am against removing the lawgiver -
Completely agree with DatBerry. Dont get me wrong, but I believe this suggestion mostly exists because of the "Oh nice the HoS has a dog. I want that too"-Effect Regarding beepsky. There is a suggestion to make him less shitty. I rather do that and give him his long overdue buff (since the implementation of sprint) than throw away forensics + detective and replace it with Security Dogs

The event itself is not too bad. It could use a bit of tweaking tough and maybe some variance (different types of mobs everything from corgis over (bluespace) bears to some of these xenobio mobs) Something that could be really nice would be giving tazers a chance to work on these mobs so security could [/i ]capture them for xenobio (not that they would even try because )

I really like this change, as it would add some more variation to the current vendors event. Altough I think that sublevel vendors should be excluded as they can be quite hard to reach. Once you have reset a vending machine, can it be infected again ? It would be nice if that could be prevented. (Maybe with a wire that can be cut ?) Lohikar
-
That. If you bite down on gas tooth and release the gas from within your mouth, you will inevitably breath in the gas yourself.
-
As pointed out by Lohikar, there isnt really any reason why you cant move to the sublevel and setup the tesla. The sublevel has the advantage of keeping the tesla somewhat contained if it escapes and allows for a orderly evacuation. I do not see a advantage in moving the tesla to the main level. Therefore I am voting for dismissal.

Make it easier to know if the AI is watching you.
Arrow768 replied to Chada1's topic in Discontinued Projects
My reason against this is the same as last time. Show me a single security camera that "glows" when someone is observing it. The entire point of security cameras is to act as a deterrent against any activity that is deemed unacceptable by authorities. There are many ways to avoid being spotted by the AI: Use maint. There are not cameras in maint and we have a very large maint area on the new station. Cut the cameras without setting of the alarm. This is already possible. Last time the idea was brought up to add a traitor item that allows you to see if the AI is monitoring you. -
A normal frag grenade has 100 Shrapnels A borg emits a random number between 50 and 100 Shrapnels A borg shrapnel causes 5 damage instead of 15 damage A borg shrapnel projectile loses a shrapnel each tile instead of every 2 tiles with a frag grenade. A borg explosion has a light damage range of 2. Stepping out of that range will cause some ear damage, deafen them and stun them for a bit, but will cause no explosion damage. I have conducted another test with a borg in the middle and the dummies two tiles away from the borg. That is the number of shrapnel embedded into each person: 0 1 0 0 1 0 0 0 2 0 0 0 x 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 2 0 0 2 As you can see, only 6 out of 24 persons have caught shrapnel. That is a 75% chance to escape unharmed, if you just walk two tiles away from the borg that said it wants to be blown up and even warned you that it will attempt to do so. That is the screenshot directly after the borg detonation: That is a screenshot one minute after the borg detonation: That is a frag grenade directly after the explosion: There are two different types of warning when a borg is about to blow. The first is the Warning Message that is displayed in the chat. In addition to that two different sounds are played. If a player plays in any game where sound is important, without sound, then noone but the player can be "blamed" for playing without sound. It is their decision, so they have to live with the consequences of not hearing sound. I.e. If you play any game where sound is an important part and you dont hear someone sneaking up on you from behind, you can not ask admins to revive you because you did not have sound on. In addition to that, the borg announced that it wants to be blown up about two minutes prior to the detonation. (Logs should be able to provide the exact time) Once the captain denied that it started spouting company secrets to be blown up. The borg expressed its clear intent to be blown up. And then started leading to conversation towards classified subjects. That alone should have been enough to get a reasonable cautious player away from the borg. So, there are a total of 3 warnings: * The borg announcing that it wants to be blown up * The immediate warning that the self destruct has been activated (wich was most likely played 3 times due to the captain hitting the self destruct 3 times as mentioned by Scheveningen) * And the audio being played. How should the captain know that they were playing wihtout sound ? That could be applied to any situation and could be used to turn any situation into the warning. If someone is not watching the monitor because they are currently typing, well that happens but it is no reason to warn someone else because "they did not give enough time to react". Again, lets say you are attempting to take someone hostage and they run away while you are typing some emotes or a lengthy text on your keyboard. You wont be able to ahelp that the hostage did bad because they ran away in the time you took to write "me aims a gun at whatever and makes a downward notion while saying "Get down on the floor"". This is a game, where you have to pay reasonable attention, especially if you have warning signs that something might happen in advance. Wich were given in that case. This is also the reason why certain players are more robust than others in all games. Some are just faster typers, some have faster reaction speeds, some know the mechancis better, some have a disadvantage for playing without sound. But that happens. And thats normal. Regarding the notion to have it taken to robotics and have its radio disabled. How long does it take the captain to come over to robotics and unlock the borg for the scientist to remove the radio (since there was no roboticist if I remember correctly) ? 3 minutes at least. How long does it take the borg to say "You are all sitting at a nuke in the vault that captains have the authority to blow up!" 30 seconds if they are a slow typer. So yes, time was of the essence. In addition, if the captain announced that he was going to blow up the borg, it would have given the borg enough time to spout the secrets about the nuke in the vault. While the warning would be nice, I can totally see why it has not been issued in this case. Finally: As shown above a frag grenade is in no way comparable to a borg explosion. And it does not make a verbal announcement like: "WARNING: A frag grenade explosion has been triggered. Please leave the area within 5 seconds".

Alright, so I made a few tests with a borg and human testsubjects. The distance between the testsubjects and the borg was altered during the tests. I found out, that if you start walking away once you notice the warning announcement, you have a good chance of escaping unharmed or with light injuries with no shrapnel embedded. After 6 detonations with a distance of 5 tiles between the borg and the testsubjects, shrapnel only embedded twice. If you run away and manage to go around a corner, you will not be injured at all If you just run away in a straight line and get the maximum distance between you and the borg before detonation, there is also a very high chance that you are not injured at all. So, if a reasonable effort is made (start walking / running when the warning message is displayed) by players to escape a borgs detonation, then they can do so with little to no injury.
