Kaed Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 There are certain hair styles that either are or were in the game that are pretty out there, like the infamous floor-length braid and most recently 'bedhead 5', which are totally silly in their massiveness, and as a result they are deemed 'unfit for the server' and removed from the code. This make sense when hairstyles are universal to race and people can come to work with hair so long they'd be tripping over it or be unable to walk easily through doors, or otherwise just not be practical for the workplace. But they're still fun. And it would be nice if these hairstyles could still be used in certain scenarios, like off-station antagonists such as wizards, raiders, and ninjas, who don't have to give a fuck about workplace safety. Rather than consigning them to the 'bad meme' bin and deleting them, we put these silly hairstyles aside for use on non-crew characters only.
Happy_Fox Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 Make them wigs instead of hairstyles perhaps?
Xelnagahunter Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 I can see it now "He's got bedhead5! He's antag!"
N8-Toe Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 "He's got wild hair! SHOOT!" but yeah I like this.

Carver Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 Theatre wigs make sense. Having them be antag-only is very odd, because visitors and characters who aren't NT personnel (excluding contractors in positions requiring proper maintenance of the hair, like anything that isn't civilian) don't really have any reason to be excluded from them. I say this as someone who despises those hair styles, too. If they're to be kept, rather than be antag-only, have them be civilian/visitor/non-Corporate only. Otherwise just keep them gone because the only wizards and antags I saw with them were spastics acting like children (Amusingly, the same crowd that had them on-station).
Peppermint Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 I personally don't like them, but I think people should style their characters however they want. If they don't mind their character looking silly..then..whatever?
MattAtlas Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 I'd rather not have bullshit like bedhead 5 at all, personally. Giving them to antagonists doesn't really solve the problem of the hairstyles looking like 1) shit or 2) being utterly ridicolous.
KingOfThePing Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 I want the stupid/meme hairstyles removed like the next guy, but I don't want the selection to be too limiting, too. I don't know, the only good solution is probably someone sacrificing a LOT of time to re-do or make new hairstyles in bulk.
Gangstafary Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 Not supporting. We already have some people getting out of their way to MG the roundtype and whatnot at the first message or sign of a gimmick, imagine if you made some hairstyles antag-only.

KingOfThePing Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 I read this response three times now and do not understand what you want to say with it

I don't want them antag locked. I want them gone. *shrug* Why would a raider have a floor length braid? Does she snatch it on every door way? Can we grab her by the thing and helicopter her around in a circle (as both concepts of helicoptering a person and a FLB are ridiculous). Maybe a Druid... I could see the wizard having one, but it doesn't fit with any other antag. Just nix 'em.
mwhit030 Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 my neon pink flb janitor..... Seriously, we should get rid of them, though. By the way, nothing stopping a spriter from making less outlandish versions of the two hairstyles. Or at least the FLB. I have no idea what bedhead5 looks like.
UnknownMurder Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 This is Bedhead 4. This is Bedhead 5. Original PR that added this: https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/6900 Removal PR in Progress: https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/7901 Bedhead 5 and Bedhead 4 doesn't really bother me but can be less "thicc". Kaedwuff seems to be the only person who has an issue with removal of Bedhead 5. To isolate unique hairstyle to antagonists only puts them on the obvious spot and we have people who will learn OOC information and be OOCly prepared to do anything defensively when antagonist confront them offensively.
Doxxmedearly Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 He's not the only person. I don't really enjoy seeing these removed, either.
Scheveningen Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 (edited) bedhead 5 gang rise up More seriously I still need to spend some time with a mirror in deciding which hairstyles to axe that aren't the proposed ones. Bedhead 5 will probably go not because it's not funny, but rather it's not practical for a heavy roleplay environment at all. Edited January 5, 2020 by Scheveningen
KingOfThePing Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 These are the hairstyles you find problematic? I didn't know bedhead5 but....this does not look too bad? What exactly is the problem with it? Bedhead4 actually looks good, please dont crucify me for this.
Zundy Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 It's called bed head but the I my way to attain that level of S T Y L E would.be through heavy product use. I don't mind whacky styles tbh as this is 2462 and not 2019 working in a office for Amazon.
