[ACCEPTED] Faye's Command (but really just CMO) App

Recommended Posts

BYOND key: PersephoneQ
Character names:

Sanaa Al-Mansoor [Physician]

Parting Glass [Barlass]

How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Since early October, I believe.

Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: Medical suffers from a chronic lack of CMOs, which I believe (among other things) is a contributing factor to the department's lack of new players. If I was CMO, I would make teaching and helping out interns high on my priority list, and ensure that medbay is a welcoming and comfortable space for players to RP in, new or experienced.

Why did you come to Aurora?: Monomyth bugged me repeatedly and I eventually caved.

Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing? I have!

Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? Nothing beyond a very small in-round ahelp over a mistake when I was new! My file is clean.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each.

Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about:

Roleplay is, of course, assuming and writing an identity that is not your own. I think that roleplay should be about the story obviously, but also about fun and mutual enjoyment of those around you. I think that knowing your audience and playing around other characters is incredibly important, especially when it comes to antagonists. For example, on a prior round I allowed a vampire to get my character into a secluded spot when I knew very well what they would do, if only for the sake of giving them a leg-up and a better start to their round.

What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?

I think the most important aspect of a Head's job on an OOC level is ensuring their department is a welcoming and comfortable space for all types of player. As I wrote earlier, I believe an issue plaguing medical is that there are few people around willing to teach interns, and the department can seem daunting and confusing when you're new. You need to teach and help new players, ensure your staff are performing their jobs realistically and staying in their lanes and keep the department cohesive, organized and of good quality roleplay.

What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?

Definitely to set an example. A player should be able to look at your conduct and your characters and know that they can come to you if they have questions about your specific department, advice, issues, etc. They should be able to look at your roleplay and characters and see people who act realistically, who have well-written backstories and depth,- in my opinion, it is all about being welcoming and showing others what to do and what not to do.

Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career?

Sol just got it's shit kicked in and there is a lot of instability and uncertainty surrounding the future. It is characterized, in my opinion, by the presence of far more questions than answers. What are the implications of the megacorps banding together? How will the galaxy change due to Elyra, the CoC and Biesel's territory gain? What will happen to the worlds that were formerly (and still are) under Solarian control? My CMO will be a shell, built in response to the rising need of competent medical personnel in Tau Ceti just before the outbreak of the war.

What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted?

I am only interested in CMO. I would also be potentially interested in being a consular were there an Elyran consular, but there is not currently so that will unfortunately have to wait.

Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.

New Character : Yhara Atiyeh

How would you rate your own roleplaying?

I think I am a competent and decent writer! I am not really sure how to respond to this due to the inherent bias when talking about yourself, but other people seem to agree!

Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yep

Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yep

+1 From me as well! I have worked with her as a CMO myself and she always knows what she is doing. She has a great personality and always does what she can to include others instead of just taking control of everything. She makes me want to step up my own game, and that is a good thing!

Faye is consistently a very fun and positive presence around the server as well as someone who is both eager to learn and pass on her knowledge to others, which are traits that I think are downright essential for a Command whitelisted player. I have no doubt that she'll catch on to Command play very quickly and further benefit the medical department by helping along newbies who are trying to wrap their heads around brainmed.

OOCly, Faye is fun to speak with. Very knowledgeable. Friendly. They conduct themselves very well. ICly, their characters are very enjoyable to roleplay with. I've only really interacted with Sanaa. Really gotta say that when it came to new medical players, they were quite the breath of fresh air in a department that has kind of suffered from elitism and a tendency to push away the non-established, among other things. They did their part well when it came to making things friendlier and fun, especially for newcomers to medical.

Command will probably take a bit of getting used to but I'm sure they'll be able to use it to good effect.

Faye has always been pleasant and fun to interact with OOCly, and Sanaa and Parting Glass have always been enjoyable to interact with ICly. Considering their already-intimate knowledge of medical and their friendly, welcoming disposition in a department well-known for its insular keepings I feel that they would make a great addition to the CMO roster. +1

Only got good things to say about Faye.

They are a joy to interact with OOC and IC. They know how to play unique and interesting characters. Command will take some getting used to I'm sure but I'd love to see them step up to the plate and be given a chance to give it a go

Stinkee CMO won't let me make Frankenstein's Monster as a surgeon -20

I've interacted rather frequently with you when you were newer to the server and started out as an intern rather than a Doctor. You've grown a lot as a player and everything good I could say in that regard has already been said many times.

Your ability to take command of the department and assume a leadership role has been a treat. You've managed to strike the sweet spot that all command should aim for; delegating to roles that your department has staff in and patching up the weak spots in your department when needed and appropriate. Your CMO has been nothing if not welcoming to any and every character that walks into medical, and actively willing to teach anyone who needs taught. While I haven't interacted with you as Command while in another department, you do an excellent job of communicating relevant information to medical when required.

As a side note, I've noticed that your CMO doesn't make more than the barest essentials in regards the medicine. You've successfully avoided falling into the Super Doctor trap that many before you have fallen into quickly, and that's a good sign.

  • MattAtlas changed the title to [TRIAL] Faye's Command (but really just CMO) App

I haven’t really had the chance to see your trial in effect, so I can only commend on your standard play.

A number of things comes to mind.
1- You reach out to people for ideas, suggestions and feedback.

2- You’re a friendly person and I don’t believe I’ve seen any incidents to the contrary.

3- I have seen your roleplay and believe that it is of high quality.

I am positive your trial will go well and you have my support.
