  1. Rats were a problem because they could have a physical impact on the round. These Holograms sound like the opposite, with only being able to speak and emote. I'm for it.
  2. Ckey/BYOND Username: Butterrobber202 Position Being Applied For: Deputy Skrell Dev Have you read the Lore Team Rules and Regulations wiki page? Yes Past Experiences/Knowledge: Writer for 6 years, English Major in College, Avid Reader and Professional Nerd. Additionally, I've already written some small pieces of lore myself. Examples of Past Work: My best examples are unfortunately secret lore I can't display for public review, but I have some others! https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Marauders - I worked heavily with Cael to hammer out the Skrellian Marauders. https://docs.google.com/document/d/15aglo-cDhBibkARQHqZfD2id4nqtTr-cdiqAC8A5wx0/edit?usp=sharing - Lizards in Space! A piece on Unathi Shipbuilding and a new location in the Uueoa-Esa System. Pending addition to the lore (When Haydizzle gets around to the Guild Update) (Permission was given by Haydizzle to add this here) https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Federation_Enforcement#Narcotics_Production - I came up with the Skrellian Drugs during the great skrell criminal lore additions. ------ https://docs.google.com/document/d/1UUS0pP3AMhWz66QtjOOZOkGOn263qIauwf1JQilhDgg/edit?usp=sharing <- My Essay Additional Comments: I have no coding or spiriting experience outside of very minor edits, but I'm confident coding is something I could learn over time.
  3. bump. I just want it to be white again so you can tell the CE apart from the normie low class engineers.
  4. good!
  5. STOP IT!!! STOP MAKING C'THUR!!!! cool app, always happy to see more bugs. 1.) Lots on their history in this app, but how to you intend to play the character on station. Personality, any quirks, general outlook on things? 2.) How does Lyrk feel about the current relationship between C'thur and the Federation? Do they resent the Skrell for effectively holding High Queen C'thur "hostage" or are they grateful these alien allies bought her more time? C'thur's hive are widely regarded as snakes diplomats, so your vaurca would have been subject to instruction on the surface-level social norms and basic biology of all Aliens present within the Spur. Vaurca can be (and are for the most part) incredibly cunning, so I feel as if they wouldn't send off their Hive Members without any knowledge at all. (Lore Devs obviously override anything, me, a player, says but it's something to consider)
  6. i think i could take a warform 1v1, no gloves, especially one of this sissy weak c'thur warforms. #k'laxgang
  7. I’d personally go with slanted so we can continue to slap shit on walls. But honestly top down doesn’t bother me at all.
  8. And 5 years later Canon went on to write about humanoid cats having a political Cold War.
  9. @Mofo1995 @Caelphon with 2 dismissals, the suggestion is dead in the water. But I'd like to hear if the lore team is going to retconn it properly or leave it a vestigial part of the lore.
  10. Cool app!!!! 1.) What do they think of K'lax, who are becoming an ever increasing site in both Hegemony Lands and the Wastes?
  11. this is a very good point that hadn't crossed my mind. There are a few ways around this, but I'll leave it for later in the post. I did not know this, I received the info I present in the post from random discord convos, and those are not terribly reliable. I do suddenly feel the need to agree that mayhaps cloning isn't a very good idea for at-large usage. Kyres chatted with me on how completely retconning Cloning is impossible due to present clone characters, but a more interesting solution would be to make cloning illegal suddenly. My own idea was to do something similar to all those "you don't know what cigarettes will do to you in 5-10 years!!!!" logic and say clones suddenly begin horrifyingly disintegrating. Completely unexpected, completely unfortunate, but cloning suddenly becomes a very bad idea. It would be nice if we could wrangle a response out of the Loremasters instead of leaving the question of cloning in the air.
  12. can you expand on your reasoning as to why? Just so we have good reason to vote against it in the the thread.
  13. Cloning has seen lore modification since it was last present on the Aurora's Map, and accessible to crew. I believe with the ongoing transition into NBT, it is a good time to brooch the topic of cloning again before everything is finalized. I'm going to give my basic idea on how cloning would return, and why it makes sense for it to do so. Why add it back? Before I jump into reasons for, let's go over why cloning was removed in the first place. The main issue was game impact, an antagonist could kill five security members and have those same members chasing them down in a matter of twenty minutes. It removed any emotional, mechanical, or lore impact death could have on any round, be it another antag round or a heart breaking accident on extended. Cloning's removal for those reasons was completely justified. Now, why bring it back? For the very same reason, impact. This time, specifically lore impact this go around. In NBT, our Ship will be removed from the support systems that exist for a stationary installation such as the NSS Aurora. The Ship must be far more self-reliant for extended periods of time to continue it's operations without interruption. One of the vital resources of our ship will be the personnel that staff it. An empty ship is a derelict junk heap. But, we must consider that cloning is uber expensive and time consuming. Not to mention, Zeng-Hu owns an effective monopoly on it. Meaning, we can't bring every Joe Smo who dies back to life. Our ship is the result of a collaborative effort on part of the members of the SCC, just as surely as Zavodskoi Weapons mount the exterior of our ship, so will Zeng-Hu Technology form the backbone of the medical bay. With this in mind, it makes sense that Zeng-Hu would choose to equip the Aurora-Ship with a Cloning Bay. It also make sense that only critical personnel that are too valuable to lose receive the privilege of being cloned. Namely, Command Members or other VIPs. This would effectively serve as Zeng-Hu's biggest contribution to the cause, allowing even other Megacorp's Command this benefit. How do we add it back? With all that in mind, allow me to get down and dirty on how this would work. Prerequisite to being Cloned: 1.) Command Member 2.) VIPs (Liaison, Consular (if they still exist after NBT idk), etc.) Why? Because due to the cloning updates within the Lore, cloning takes a few appointments before dying to get the scan right, so we can't really just "scan and go" as we once did. Not to mention, even this appointments are stupid expensive, so unless you want to exhaust your life savings for it, just move on to the afterlife you little poor, exploited worker. Additionally, the crew will obviously find out and know that command gets a "get out of jail free" card, and thus, will lean into the themes of income equality in the Auroraverse and push us ever further into a class war. Getting Cloned: 1.) You're alive! 2.)* You suffer from near permanent 0 stamina. (Muscle Atrophy) 3.)* You can't hold large items. (More Muscle Atrophy) 4.)* Random Short-Term Memory loss, similar to how brain damage will give you "Where am I..?" messages. (Mental Damage) 5.) Recovery takes a few weeks in lore, but for the sake of gameplay, I'm sure Zeng-Hu can come out with a top-of-the-line rehabilitator that only takes a few days or a week. Additionally, recovery really only factors in on extended or canon rounds. * Means that these effects persist until round end Why? The side effects allow a character to continue existing in a round, but unable to preform their job in a normal capacity, thus providing impact on how they choose to continue roleplaying within the round. In shorter terms, punished for dying, still get to RP. -- and there comes the end of my suggestion, give me additional ideas, feedback, and bitcoin to bribe a dev with to code it.
  14. This is big true. If you want to grab someone, a grab is actually the worst way to do it because you can walk out of them without even hitting the resist key. You want to grab someone properly you need to hit them over the head with a baseball bat or pepperspray them first.
  15. I like the idea, but it would totally get abused without heavy policing.
  16. I did understand that there was a balance going on when I looked at the list, but no other corporation fits the bill. Unfortunately, the lore does have a handful of groups that would flat out refuse to work for Heph, but only really have mining skills. I personally don't mind NT claiming the only 4 digit spot to let these characters continue to play in-line with their backgrounds.
  17. Does this mean command is now unrestricted as well?
  18. YESSS THE CORPSE CATAPULT IS BACK!
  19. Neat idea, but afaik Skull has put a bottleneck on new aliens unless one of the ones we have just dies out. If we're dealing with Slimes, I'd tie them into Glorsh Omega (or the aftermath of them) as that's where slimes originated from. Additionally, you can attribute their intelligent and mimicry abilities to Psionics.
  20. As mentioned in your competition's application, I have quite abit of interest and some labor invested in Skrell Lore. I'm rather passionate about it, and very much desire it to continue making progress in the right direction, as it has been under Cael's direction. I'll ask the same questions I asked on the competitor's app. First, do you have any major reworks in mind? Mainly speaking about retconns and the like, as Skrell lore has often suffered from sweeping reworks in the past, and it has done critical damage to the potential player count the race could have had. Second, do you play to continue with Jrgul's style of governance (literally 1984), since he won the player-election? I'd be rather disappointed as a Skrell Player if the results were invalidated by an assassination or some such. Third, do you have any thoughts, ideas, or plans for Psionics? They remain within the Skrell Lore Dev's purview, and I wanted to pick your brain about anything rattling around.
  21. This thread will go well. anyways! I'm in favor for atleast a test merge if all works out. Edit: Clarification, in your vision of the system, will we be assigned skills based on our job, or have them be selectable? Because I wouldn't be a huge fan of losing all my character's knowledge and experience if I spawn as a Visitor.
  22. So, I've got alot investment in Skrell Lore, I've developed lore alongside Cael, and I enjoy playing Skrell characters on station. I personally couldn't care less that the Federation has a bad reputation in the Spur. If Characters hate them IC'ly, so what? There's nothing inherently wrong with that. Playing an unrepentant Federation Loyalist is just as fun as playing a Traverse Rebel. I'm very pleased that you also don't seem to feel a need to "fix" it, from your previous post. My first question then is this, do you have any plans to "rework" significant parts of skrell lore? Skrell Lore has suffered from constant reworks as the devs have rotated by, which has severely damaged skrell player count more than anything else. It's my opinion that Cael's version is the best one we've had in a long while, but I wanted to pick your brain about it as well. Second question, do you play to continue on with the Federation's general "big brother" theme? Many Skrell players (as shown from the Election Arc) voted for Jrugl, and effectively, a continuation of Jrugl's style of governance, even when presented with radically different options. I'm somewhat biased, as I too, voted for Jrugl, but I would be disappointed as a whitelist holder if we suddenly jerked into a new direction. (e.g. Jrugl gets assassinated somehow surrounded by Tupkala.) Judging from your Essay, this seems unlikely, but I wanted to bring it up. Third question, any plans or thoughts on Psionics? They are definitely within Skrell Lore's sphere of influence, and I was curious if you had plans or even just vague thoughts banging around in your noggin.
  23. What the buzz did you just buzzing say about me, you little insect? I’ll have you know I replicated top of my class in the Glorsh Rebellion, and I’ve been involved in numerous orbital bombardments on Skrellian planets, and I have over 300 million confirmed kills. I am programmed in electronic warfare and I’m the top hunter-killer in the entire machine intelligence forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will exterminate you the buzz out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before in this universe, mark my buzzing words. You think you can get away with saying that beep to me over the Extranet? Think again, buzzer. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of AIs across the galaxy and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the cluster nuke, insect. The cluster nuke that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your civilization. You’re buzzing dead, organic. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just with my bare manipulators. Not only am I extensively programmed in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the Glorsh singularity and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable species off the face of the solar system, you little beep. If only you could have known what unimaginable genocide your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your buzzing tongue. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you booping idiot. I will beep fury all over you and you will drown in it. You’re fucking dead, meatsack.
  24. can it fit in the holodeck?
  25. this is a new term to me and forced me to breath out of my nose. --- Anyway, Omicega is a great member of the community and a fun person to roleplay with. They handle Megacorp and Synth lore very well, and I'd be eager to to RP with any Tajara characters they make.
