[Accepted] Dronz's Unathi App
Doxxmedearly replied to DronzTheWolf's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
A really short and to-the-point backstory that paints a picture of both a well-realized character, as well as understanding key aspects of Unathi lore, inclusive of recent events. And given the characters we've seen you play, I know you put a good deal of thought into this app and character. You're a delight to interact with, roleplay wonderfully, and I can't remember noting any red flags about you ICly or OOCly. A very firm +1. This is a great app. -
Awesome. I love this. We’re severely lacking in this department and I’m sick of everything just dealing generic toxins damage. Shotgunning ideas below. Not married to them, so use or discard them as you see fit. I will likely brainstorm more. (Added more, 10/26. Not double posting without replies between them)
-
Oho, a Si'akh HoS. Very nice. Well, I've commented fully on your retracted app. I certainly believe you have the abilities to perform in a command role. You're not a selfish player, so having you in a head role will probably do the rounds some good. I'd ask you to be aware of the current issues regarding Heads, ie: Communication between them is bad right now. Your roleplay is solid, your characters are good, and even as an antag, you do your best to help everyone have a good round. I've seen your security play as Rosh, and don't get any validy vibes from you, and frankly, I enjoy your willingness and ability to have communications with antags. You can work as a team, and I get the feeling you prefer to. You're also open to criticism (your last app, for example) and willing to admit your mistakes and improve. I'm sure coalf will come in here and grill you further, but I certainly stand by your abilities to fulfill a head of staff role. A +1 from me. Some last questions: How do you feel about your abilities to coordinate with other departments? What do you feel command has been lacking lately, and what do you plan to do to improve that? Some people, myself included, feel that security doesn't get punished enough for regulation breaking (Long processing times, excessive force, etc.) Do you think this is an issue? If so, do you plan to crack down on it ICly?

Character Feedback: Willow Harper
Doxxmedearly replied to Rosetango's topic in Character and Concept Feedback
I’m glad you decided to do this. I hope the complaint thread ends without administrative action. I also hope you review what was brought forth by people in the complaint thread, as well; even if it seems harsh, it IS feedback, and when many people are bringing up the same issue, it’s an indication that something is wrong. I’ll preface this by saying why I haven’t contacted you on Discord, personally. This isn't critique of Harper, so I'll throw it in spoilers. Onto Willow herself: Your latest post in the complaint thread says that Willow doesn’t want to be the center of attention. If that’s true, then this needs work. You have done a decent job so far, back from the Willow of a few months ago. The main issues were: Constantly screaming on the radio, esp. arguing with antags, rushing to the scene of any cry for help, and 0-100 escalation. -Radio comms: You’ve improved, and anyone who cares to remember back to may-june can say this. Honestly, it was at the point where I knew OOCly when Willow was the antag with the voice changer on comms. How? Because she wasn’t arguing with them nonstop. Now, she’s still feisty on comms. But it’s getting to be more reasonable. -Rushing to the scene: Again, something you’ve improved. But remember your previous complaint thread and MDP’s comments in your current one, and continue to work on this. I’ve seen less “rushing with a first aid kit” and more “staying in the scene and being obstructive.” I’ve witnessed this as Sunny, and tbear also brought up another incident: -0-100 escalation: I’m not going to repeat things said in the complaint thread, as they’ve all been said better than I can put. Breaking through glass to fight someone was insane, but you’ve already admitted it was a bad move. These three things contribute to the perception that Willow wants to be the center of attention. And if she doesn’t, then I’m not sure. Perhaps you do? I understand wanting antag interaction. But a few months back, if someone cried for help on the radio, you could guarantee Willow would be there as soon as possible. I still don’t think this behavior is totally fixed, but it’s improved. As Resi said in the complaint thread, you’ve started to relapse a bit into old habits these last few weeks. Other thoughts: -FearRP You’ve talked about not understanding the idea of needing to work on FearRP. I’m sure you’ll talk to staff about it, but I’ll give you my own thoughts. It means you need to display reasonable fear. Tbear’s example in the complaint thread is a good one. Yes, you want to protect your friend. But, really, you were going to fight a malfunctioning security cyborg, with its baton out, with a bar stool? Every character has different reactions to fear. But you have to display it. In the above situation, fear is reasonable and likely. One character might back off and run away. One might call fearfully on comms. And another might stand firm, but still afraid. You should display your fear more often, and take it into account. Maybe she’d be threatening the bot, while holding the stool with shaky hands, knowing that if she tried, it would end with her being hurt or killed, but hesitant to abandon a friend. One thing I’ve noticed is that you tend to justify Willow’s escalation and lack of fear as “defending her friends.” This is a good character trait, but not an excuse to throw fear out the window. Think about it in IRL terms. I love my friends. I would defend my friends. If people started beating up my friends, I would probably jump in, even if I would get my ass kicked. And yet, I would still shit my pants if my friend was being held at gunpoint by a heavily armed raider. And I probably wouldn’t fight space cops who are arresting my friend with reasonable justification (“He shot so-and-so.”) I’d react to it, and maybe come to their defense (“No, he’s a good guy, he wouldn’t! You’re confused!), but I feel like impeding an arrest is kind of a really extreme thing to do. Or, at least, as often as Willow does. Your previous complaint thread is a good source of feedback for this, too. “I need to get this medkit to help people” does not erase “There is a fucking firefight/guns-drawn standoff and most death-fearing people would know better than to just run in.” -Good or Evil You made a point to say that Willow was designed to not be “Good or Evil, she can be both.” While good, this in itself is not… a unique trait. This is the basic requirement for making a complex and believable character. It’s good that you do this, though. My closing thoughts are this: At the end of the day, you need to decide what criticism is valid and what is not. It’s easier to justify and dismiss critique as being wrong, “memeing,” or an attack. Certainly you receive plenty of this, and that can be fairly disregarded. It’s my hope that you really do try and take things that people will post in this thread, really consider the points, and then decide if it’s helpful or not. It’s not easy to do, by any means. Nobody wants someone they’ve developed and invested in to be poked and prodded under a fine microscope, having their flaws listed off one by one. But what it will do is help you refine your character. I want to like Willow. I think she can be a really good character. But right now, she gets joked about because of the issues brought up in the complaint thread. I won’t say I haven’t made a few. The way she acts is really hard to take seriously a lot of the time. But at the same time, I really want to see her grow to be more than that. I hope my feedback has been helpful! -
Janitors are already expected to replace lights and do extremely minor repairs. I don't see why they would need an alt-title for it. If anything, renaming them to Custodial Technicians makes more sense than an alt-title. But I suppose you could just add the alt-title using the same logic as Cook/Chef: Same duties, but one implies a higher degree of experience. If you want a science alt-title for someone who works with chemicals, then something simple like "Chemical Scientist/researcher" seems fitting. I think this is a pretty decent idea. Curator is good. Adding flavor to librarian is always welcome. Supply Manager... I dunno. It doesn't really imply anything different than Quartermaster. I don't think this adds any flavor, even minor like chef/cook. Newscaster maintainer is just odd, awkward-sounding, and pretty unnecessary, even as flavor. I don't see a reason for this title at all. I'm with Zae on the "Arms Dealer" thing. It doesn't sound like anything NT would allow going to a civilian station. "Supplier" might be a decent flavor-alt for merchants, if you want to RP an arms dealer or contraband seller but make it sound legit. Tourist... Weird. But I'm not particularly against it as an alt-title. I still feel "Visitor" is a better word that can encompass tourists. I'd honestly like to see maintenance tech be renamed to (Or an additional alt title for engineers) "Structural Engineer." But that may be too specialized. That's my .02cr

[Declined] Lord Fowl Skrell Dev App
Doxxmedearly replied to LordFowl's topic in Developer Applications Archives
I must also echo my concerns about your interactions. Coalf put it well, but I would do a disservice to you, as well as the server, to not raise these points. To be blunt, your attitude is the opposite of approachable. Whenever I see your name in discord (Be it the lore channel or relay OOC), or very rarely in in-game OOC, it seems every message is put as insulting or harsh as possible. You seem to hold extremely low opinions for types of players/portions of the community. I am not the only one who stops posting when they see you speaking, due to being intimidated by your borderline hostile way of discussing things. If a prospective whitelistee saw this, I think their desire to post an application would plummet. It wouldn't stop all people, but it wouldn't do any favors for getting people to play Skrell. While I do not expect perfection of anyone, and there are lore team members which I still think could benefit from toning back their feisty attitudes, I think you have a very long way to go to be seen as approachable by at least some parts of the community. Your answers are very good. You have lore and coding experience. No doubt you can put skrell in a better place than they are currently. But that is only one part of making a species active. The other part is getting players interested and excited to look into the lore and apply for whitelists, as good players and characters are probably what goes the furthest in keeping interest in a species flourishing. At this time, I have serious doubts about your ability to fulfill the latter. I feel like if I asked questions about skrell or lore clarifications, I would be made to feel like an idiot. I'd be extremely hesitant to consider posting a whitelist app. I'm sure you can take your duties seriously and work with a lore team, but I have a hard time seeing you interacting and communicating patiently with the non-staff community. I'm not trying to make assumptions about your character, but rather post how I currently view the personality you put forth in the public eye. -
Character Complaint: Willow Harper
Doxxmedearly replied to Neinbox's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
Rose is a good person OOCly, and so I owe it to her to post here and be honest. Some of my characters are friends with Willow, some are just on good terms, others are neutral, and some outright hate her. But there is merit to the posts being presented here, regardless of IC or OOC feelings, and after asking staff if I should post my own experiences, I have decided to. There are two notable experiences that come to mind. The first is one that Abo has pointed out; I was ghosting and witnessing that event, and it seemed very extreme. This is not reasonable or believable escalation. This is breaking through walls to attack someone who called you a dick in response to your aggressive threat. The second is seeing Willow place individuals into a cryotube. A janitor does not know how to use this, no matter what you say about first aid. While the in-game mechanics are simplified to "Shove them in and flip the switch," realistically, it needs a professional to operate. When I brought this up in LOOC/OOC (Abrasively, I admit on my end. I apologize for the passive-aggressive nature), she said something to the tune of "Fuck me for making sure people have a good round, right?" It is not your job to break immersion and do things beyond your knowledge to make sure others get in the round. Additionally, since this was after transfer on the Odin, it's a very weak argument. I have seen this behavior as consistent; while I'm not against her using first aid, the tendency to rush to give others medical treatment is quite frustrating. This rushing in to emergencies (especially regarding medical) has already been brought up. I think more effort needs to be made to curb this, considering I witnessed this after the prior complaint was resolved. When questioned about why she does this, she has stated, both ICly and OOCly, that it is because medical responds too slow. IMO this is still not a good reason to be the first one rushing to help cries over comms when medical is active. This removes RP from EMTs/Paramedics. It's more understandable if it's a friend, of course, but the point remains. As well, there is still the issue of arguing constantly over comms (especially with antags), but I've seen her improve this behavior, even if it is not gone. I think this is something that needs to be addressed ICly, though. That's all the testimony I have to add to this. Rosetango, might I suggest making a feedback thread in addition to your asking people to communicate with you privately? You may get more critique that way. -
As a person, I think you’re very easy to get along with, and I think you have the drive to write (and experience), as well as the ability to work as part of a team. You have good answers so far, in my opinion. I enjoy that you don’t plan on rewriting the species, but expanding on what is there. I also really look forward to seeing them have more development outside of Glorsh. There’s a LOT of Skrell lore established, but as stated, it’s incredibly shallow. Consider that Skrell have been neglected for a long time, and reviving interest in a species is not a small task. It will require work, and a dev needs to be chosen carefully. So I will pose some more questions. Some may involve repeating things you've already said, but bear with me. == You’ve talked about expanding their relationship with humanity. This is very good. But they are also deeply involved with other species, such as the C’thur Vaurcae, Dionae, and Unathi (Ouerea, specifically). Do you have plans for or thoughts on these? Right now, there’s a surge of Skrell whitelist apps. This can be really great momentum for firing off renewed interest in the species. To keep it, the dev will have to remain active; there’s no doubt that lore inactivity contributed to the species getting stale. Do you feel like you can remain active with writing lore and being available for questions? Do you have any plans to further expand on the Skrell religions? When it comes to generating interest in a species, good players have a strong influence, as a really well-played xeno in round can make people interested in looking at the lore. Right now, we have very few active skrell (pending whitelist approvals). Will we see you play skrell more to help generate interest? Will you work with the lore team to plan events? People want to see on station differences between xenos. The macro is needed, but the micro should not be forgotten. You’ve pointed out some rough ideas about mechanical changes. What plans do you have, if any, to make Skrell feel more unique and alien for a person to roleplay? == Also looking forward to reading your essay. So far I think you’re capable, but when it comes to lore dev apps, I’m looking for proof that you are willing and able to put in the work, as well as proof that your contributions will be what the species needs. I think questions and answers are more important than +1/-1.

God, I forgot the drills even existed. That's a way better start replacement.

Overall, I think this is a very good suggestion. Some of these mechanics need to be at least somewhat in place for new players to learn. Leaving things half-setup retains this while cutting some tedium. It is incredibly difficult to operate medical with the chems available without a chemist/cmo. However, one can "make do" with most treatment by mixing up inaprovaline and dylovene into tricord. But if there's internal bleeding and you don't have a chemist or surgeon? Hope those tubes had time to cool! As far as the specifics of this... Dylovene is in vendors already. Dexalin is in the sleeper. For a medical department to get by without a chemist, you'd probably want a bottle of bicaridine, dermaline, and a half bottle of peridaxon. MAYBE Hyronalin. Medbay would be able to function for a bit, if a little awkwardly. They'd still be in a bad place for multiple emergencies, but shit happens. This means newbie chemists can still work on the basics. Agreed. This is tedious and barely teaches anything. Yeah. Sorting is kinda fun because of all the neat shit you find. Honestly I view shipping crates as optional; most departments barely care about the stuff they get, and the only pressure you get regarding time crunch depends entirely on the QM/HoP. This is mostly good, but the 3x3 starting KA is a little much. I did think that pickaxes were getting replaced with KAs though, when the cKA update happened. Honestly just making the class E or D available at the start, along with mags, would make sense and speed up initial production tremendously. Even engineering gets mags.
-
Awesome question, and something definitely worth thinking about. I think everyone has to sort of make that choice when they play a job like this (or security, or other medical roles, etc). For an IPC, the thought process is different, but the idea is the same. They're not lawed, but they have to look at things logically. To PANACEA, their duty is what will be most important, I feel. The logic to them is that they're entrusted to saving lives, and one of the few that has the ability to be there and do so. Logic also says "Hey, this person also has friends, family, and relationships. They're an individual. It is my duty to this person, their friends/family, and myself to do my best to help them." That will win in the end, though I won't say it would be easy; it would never be simple to ignore a friend calling for help and knowing you have to leave them for a more critical patient. They would be extremely apologetic afterwards, and if they made the wrong call, or their friend died or was seriously wounded... I don't know! I would have to cross that when I come to it. The logic would state that they made the right decision. But that may not sit right with them for a long time, and lead to them asking questions about themselves. That's an excellent thinking point, thank you. And thank you for the kind feedback. That goes to all of you so far. I really, really appreciate everyone's thoughts.

Additional Chems and Recipes (Drugs and Addictions)
Doxxmedearly replied to BurgerBB's topic in Archive
I actually like Omnizine being at the same effectiveness when inhaled/ingested. The inhalers were a good addition; giving them more utility is great. You could even stock an inhaler full of it in some first-aid kits for ease of use. Mannitol is interesting because you could throw it in a clonex mix beaker. Might be better if you changed it to only working below 170k, like clonex/cryox. Right now it just seems like a better alkysine, since it metabolizes quicker and has additional effects. Also, could you list the theoretical overdose limits for these medications? -
Give paramedics/EMTs basic department access
Doxxmedearly replied to Doxxmedearly's topic in Archive
I think I may have worded it in a confusing way. Janitors have basic access already. This suggestion is to give Emergency Medical Response staff similar access levels. I only used janitors as a comparison. -
[Accepted] Lualyrr's Skrell Whitelist Application
Doxxmedearly replied to Lualyrr's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Tells me I have too many characters apps anyway Jokes aside, it's a strong app. I know you've talked about doing this for a long time, and this app wasn't made on a whim. You actively asked for help writing it, and I can tell you put a lot of time and effort into it. You're a person who likes to put a lot of time developing a handful of characters, so I know Vyyal will be an excellent and fully-realized character. I'd like to see your answers to Nursie's questions, but it seems you have a good sense of both character and general Skrell knowledge. We may not agree on everything OOC, but I certainly think that you've earned this whitelist by merit of an excellent app combined with great RP abilities. +1 from me! -
[Accepted] Hocka's Skrell Application
Doxxmedearly replied to Hocka's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Wow. Nothing for me to do here but echo nursie's sentiments. A lot of care was put into this app. The attention to detail in the original app and followup answers are incredible. You have a definite sense of both Sqrlesh and Skrell culture. And, of course, your roleplaying chops are some of the best. Vex is a great and memorable character, and one of the ones who inspired me to look into a Vaurca whitelist. Absolute +1. Very well done. -
Would give roboticists more to do.
-
What it says on the tin. Basically the same as janitor access, minus the janitor's closet. I see people wondering ICly and OOCly about why janitors have more access than paramedics. Obviously janitors should have an easier time doing their jobs. It makes sense. Emergency medical responders should have the same ease, given the time-sensitive, life-or-death nature of their work. It would also make it easier for them to get into the brig area for prisoner treatment. Ideally I'd like to see the following access: Security (Main area/hall), Engineering break room, Cargo (iffy due to the warehouse, but also so many miners get hurt!), Science (Just the hallway/maybe through to the elevator). This gives them a bit more freedom of access, cutting down response times, without giving them access to sensitive areas or places where they can disrupt work. Crew and/or AI will still have to let them into some areas, but I feel like giving them a bit more freedom would make sense ICly. After all, these are dangerous jobs, enough that we staff medical departments and have on-staff surgeons. Thoughts?

When the unstoppable force meets 4 movable objects
Doxxmedearly replied to Arrow768's topic in Hall Of Fame
I joined as an observer. Immediately, I get "Doxx come to the merchant shuttle" in dchat. Saw this. Yonni: "I killed all the raiders." And when it hit me, I probably laughed for a good fifteen minutes. The pictures of it happening right before make it so, so much better. The comedic timing for Ripribs yelling is... Yes. +1 -
BYOND Key: Doxxmedearly Character Names: Rowan Fortune, Sikaevi Suhn’Krashzkrikh, Sazya Xichi, Ka’Akaix’Myrz C’thur, Ka’Akaix’Daze Zo’ra, Beatrix Saint-Claire, Amadi Udoka, Nahjiya Khayaram, Kizikh Guwan, Mari Tanaka, others in signature Species you are applying to play: IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): N/A Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yep + Begging Kyres for answers Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Synthetics are interesting! I’ve played aliens, and they’re all “not quite human;” synthetics are the same, but in a different way. Other species have a lot of cultural lore established, but IPCs have more of a blank slate with this, which gives a lot of interesting leeway to play with when it comes to character backgrounds. I’ll admit, too, that I’ve been influenced by a lot of really good IPC players and characters, who manage to bring unique personalities to the table within the confines of being synthetic. I want to give it a shot. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: shells are different than humans? They’re synthetic. And with that comes a whole lot. The main thing is their behavior: While they can simulate speech and emotions with varying degrees of success, they are just that: simulated. They’re still mechanical, and think in terms of binary: Cause and effect. They’re way more predictable than organics because of this. They can still mimic emotions, but it’s never going to be perfect. However, they are still individuals, with the ability to form opinions, have personality quirks, and develop bonds with others. Culturally, well, they don’t really have much of one, usually just following that of their creators and environment. But they sure do get plenty of good ol’ fashioned prejudice. Many xenos, like Unathi and Skrell, have a fierce dislike of synthetics, and there are several anti-synthetic factions in play. IPCs are created with a debt they have to repay, and most are owned, giving them very little actual freedom. Even “free” IPCs have to be tagged, and can be dismantled at the first sign of malfunction. Most of them are poor, and if they live in less-than-nice places, have to worry about being kidnapped and disassembled for scrap. This definitely has an influence on an IPC character’s background. Character Name: PANACEA Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs: PANACEA’s construction was complete in the early 2440’s. They were part of group of several Zeng-Hu medical emergency, rescue, and triage models- this unit’s designation was Paramedical Nursing and Critical Emergency Aide, or “PANACEA.” They were designed to be quick, willing to take risks to help others, and given enough social abilities to assess a situation and keep people calm during them, including sympathy (to a degree), kindness, and the ability to comfort. They were slated to lead a rather normal life; work until you could pay off your debt, then live as a free citizen. Plans changed slightly when they were responding to a small earthquake, which caused a building collapse. They maneuvered to the lower levels, where they found a human, Mari Tanaka, trapped with her foot crushed under some large rubble, along with a few other organics with fractures and moderate injuries. To make matters worse, the building was still unstable, and soon settled, sealing a proper exit. They were stuck. PANACEA was able to keep everyone medically stable and calm for the following day, performing their duties as expected and working to the very last reserves of their power. Mari enjoyed the IPC’s company, and holds that PANACEA kept them all from panicking, and that their unfaltering reassurances kept them in good spirits. Eventually, they were able to be safely extracted. To PANACEA, this was just another day of work (though they were pleased with the happy ending to what could have been a tragedy). Their duty was done, people were safe, and their job went on. A week later, PANACEA was notified that the remainder of their debt had been paid off by Mari; they were now a free positronic, many years earlier than expected. PANACEA was curious about this incredible generosity (And now felt that their debt was owed to her), and got in contact with Mari, who dispelled any notions that she intended to buy PANACEA or make them repay debt. The two met and talked often. Over years, this developed into a sort of familial bond, with the IPC being somewhat of a permanent fixture with the Tanaka family. PANACEA was soon considered a part of the family and a couple of years later, they were “adopted” into it legally, making them an official family member and giving them many of the legal rights that come with it (Or, at least, as many as could be granted to a synthetic). Mari was a woman who had a close relationship working with NanoTrasen. Eventually, she was offered a position as a captain for the NSS Aurora; when this offer was made, PANACEA asked to be staffed there as well; while they no longer owed a debt, they did enjoy helping others with their work (They never quit their job). With Mari’s pull, it was easy to get them a permanent transfer. What do you like about this character? Personality-wise, I enjoy their design. Paramedics have a duty to reassure patients and keep people from panicking in a high-stress situation; PANACEA possesses these social cues, but again, they’re synthetic. It won’t be the same as a human doing so; this could make interactions worse (Synthetic racism, inability to empathize with pain), or better (Always remaining calm and optimistic, which may reassure others). Still, they have an upbeat personality, and try to be friendly where they can. They enjoy talking to others. Also, PANACEA, personally, hasn’t experienced a ton of synth prejudice firsthand; I want to explore how they deal with that. It’s not all sunshine and rainbows, even if they’re cheerful. I also enjoy that they have a family of sorts. I always find it interesting when IPCs have close bonds with organics. It’s a good reminder that they have existences beyond the station, and can form likes, dislikes, bonds, and opinions. It gives them something to talk about. How would you rate your role-playing ability? Awful Solid, and always trying to improve. People say good things and generally enjoy my characters, but I know I can do better. Always trying to improve myself. Notes: –Mari Tanaka is my captain character. -Re: “Adoption.” There already exists legal ways to adopt an adult into a family, and so figured there was at least some sort of equivalent for IPCs. Not really as a “child” but something granting similar legal rights (Inheritance, PoA, medical next of kin, etc.) as you would to free citizens. I discussed it with Kyres a bit; this should go along with what we felt was reasonable. -no the robot isn’t gay, before the usual crowd makes comments. No romancing here.

The first time I played was technically 3-4 years ago on Bay. My GF at the time was into it, so she convinced a bunch of us to play. We all joined as assistants and her as chef. We ended up making a ton of wish soup, and she got talked to by admins because "A kitchen full of assistants raises some eyebrows." We really did look greytidey. No real shenanigans happened until one of my friends got drunk, gibbed himself, and then we made burgers out of him. Didn't really play again until I found Aurora in April this year. First round, I joined as Librarian. Went well, until a bomb went off in the bathroom next door. Someone walked me down to mining to get a suit, and we went to the escape shuttle. Then I got called a meme character and ridiculed in LOOC because I played Wynter with a pink FLB. I almost quit but decided to go "fuck that" and here I am.

Extremely solid answers. I love your answer to the metaclique question; it's going to be a big thing, and when you've been around a long time, and have IC relationships, you're going to get accused of it. I have been, too. You seem to be willing to be actively aware of this pitfall, so that is some relief. I hope you'll be able to handle such accusations with grace and keep an open mind about critique. Personally, I think you can. As for the second question, I agree it's tough to just list out an answer. Mostly, it's something I think command needs to focus on. Even if your character is a jerk, or too highbrow to mingle with the lower echelons, you will still need to find a way to allow interaction. Sometimes this means checking in, or taking lead. Other times, this will involve letting them be autonomous as to not stifle or limit them. I've personally been trying meetings. Training sessions are a good idea. Most importantly, you seem to be actively thinking about it, which is what I was hoping you'd do. The AFK comment wasn't a jab at you; I don't actually know your AFK habits. But I've seen someone stall out a merc gimmick by being inactive for almost an hour. And lastly, I like your thoughts about communication. Sometimes people have attitudes and do their own thing; there's little to be done in these cases. Extend your thinking about medical and communication to include the command channel and I think you'll be one of my favorites heads of staff. You've seen how Fernando runs medbay; you don't need to be talking ALL the time, especially if people are doing it themselves well enough. It's a balance you have to strike while remaining true to your character. All in all, these are very good answers. Very solid +1 from me for the strong app and followup. Good luck.

A lot of these seem extremely redundant. While Bauser is right and it doesn't really make chemist lives harder to have more options (Though it's more recipes to have to know. You may be a chemistry pro, but please consider those that are still trying to get used to it), I'm really just wondering what the point is of having multiple drugs do the same thing. It feels like unnecessary bloat, and just more chemicals for new players to have to learn. I don't play on other servers, so please humor my ignorance. What would be the difference between Alkysine and Mannitol? Hyronalin, Potassium Iodide, and Pentetic acid? Omnizine and Atropine? Leporazine and Menthol? Why do we need alternatives to Dex and Dex+? A lot of these new additions I'm behind with a +1, but these redundant ones we have medications for already... why? Medical is already daunting for people without having to learn the names of three medications that do basically the same thing. And if the healing effect is different (Pentetic Acid being weaker than Hyronalin, for example, if that is the case), I mean... Okay. But a lot of these are already so specialized they're barely used, so I guess I don't see the need for alternatives. I don't feel the redundancy is worth whatever "flavor" might come from it. -
I specifically list my characters to get bullied. Also, hello. Love the spirit! Hopefully the salt doesn't crush it.

Hocka's Head of Staff Application

Having played with you as command, I definitely feel like you're a good fit for it. No red flags. If I had any concerns, it would be your radio silence. I would like to see you communicating on the command channel more frequently. I know it's easy to get wrapped up in projects for staff like CEs and RDs but remember that command helps coordinate round direction and having good communication between heads of staff goes a long way in making the round fun for the departments under them. Overall, I think you're doing a good job. Still a good +1 from me. edit: Having seen your communications with the engineering department, I'm even more confident in your abilities. You do great organizing and delegating. Just talk more with command!
