  1. Considering as resolved, locking and archiving.
  2. Additional comment; the supermatter was fucked up by a player ramming into it as a mouse, he was handled in the round by @Pratepresidenten
  3. Alright both me and Shame looked through logs and we found the same conclusive evidence, that a very critical misstep in the investigation was made. Yonni's statement supports this too. To clarify, there were two antags at round end, the Unathi played by @Vizendel and a Tajara1 played by @ReadThisNamePlz. The Tajara1 wished to rescue Tajara2 who had a bomb inside them, security refused to let them interact and thus Tajara1 decided to force their way to Tajara2. At the checkpoint, Tajara1 was approached and aimed at (with a lethal laser rifle) by an officer and told to surrender. Seeing no alternative, Tajara1 began fighting the officer, killing them, the Unathi was present according to the logs as they had created an alliance beforehand. After this the HoS gives an order to shoot lethally at armed people approaching the shuttle, this is logical. Then an officer tosses a single flashbang, this flashbang hits the Unathi and Tajara1. At this point, the Unathi buys frag grenades and EMP grenades. Some fire is exchanged and allegedly the Tajara dies/collapses which, the Unathi breaks into the shuttle and frag grenades/EMP grenades begin being tossed. Logs also include a lot of glaiving, attempted disarms, etc. Here is the issue, the fighting on the shuttle was indeed carried over from the hallway, sure, acceptable, that is included in the rules. HOWEVER No ganking. While antags will sometimes kill, it is expected for you to provide interesting roleplay to your targets first, if your goal is assassination. This does not mean that you need to monologue your opponent before killing them: roleplay leading up to a murder can take place over the course of the entire round, for example, leaving the murder scene itself to be “wordless”. Collateral damage is acceptable within reason, but this means you must use common sense, and avoid creating scenarios with a lot of potential for collateral (setting bombs in high-traffic areas, etc.) This rule is violated via tossing the grenades into a packed, near completely glass shuttle full of Civilians when your goal is to allegedly save someone inside that shuttle. To me, this seems like prioritizing effectivity and DPS. Both I and ShameOnTurtles read the logs INDIVIDUALLY and concluded this. I decided to also read up on all dialogue said that round from the Unathi and Tajara1 and the intent of the Unathi on why exactly they wanted to help was very paper-thin as there seemed to be zero dialogue about any plan, idea or anything else. IN SHORT We have concluded the investigation carried out by @Yonnimer was erroneous. All relevant parties will be talked to. Locking and Archiving in 24 hours unless more evidence pops up, however, do bear in mind that all presented above is OBJECTIVE evidence read directly from the logs which include all words, aims, attacks, and grenade priming and hitting.
  4. Whitelist accepted, locking and archiving.
  5. I'll be taking this complaint along with @ShameOnTurtles @Yonnimer
  6. This is a strange argument, the first implication is that everyone had behaved in a way that could be used to raise an entire staff complaint over, alright fair, nobody is innocent. But the way you structure the argument further baffles the mind, it implies that the excuse for Fowl's behavior is the fact he acts like this constantly when I think that would be the exact reason this complaint was made. Further, the implication that no discussion can ever be had with him due to his prickery is a very strange defense. I'd even think this was somehow a subtle and hidden criticism. Hiding ignorance and inability to argue behind eloquent and long-winded prose or biting commentary gets annoying, true, but I wouldn't call it something to make a complaint over. However what I would make a bashing over is the overuse of slurs in a negative context and the rule numero uno, "Don't be a dick". There are two ways you can regard slurs, "Always bad" or "Regarding context". This server operates on a mixture of both and I agree that words become negative based on context, not based on the word itself. Fowl has violated both definitions, be it the "context" argument or "always" argument. And going from what I know as observed from chat Fowl HAS been talked to about his behavior previously, two times last month and this month about the calendar, yet it keeps repeating. And I think this is where I take an issue, the refusal to acknowledge anything bad had been done in the first place and thus the inability to learn from it. Hinting at the fact that it'll just keep happening. In the end, I think people overfocused this complaint on the stupidity of the arguments rather than the actual issues with the author which were the origin of this complaint.
  7. Ever since we stopped shilling PRA and switched to DPRA people seemed to have taken a waster interest. True and for the better even.
  8. Just like those damn manifestos.
  9. The trial period starting today until 4.12.2018
  10. Splendid, locking and archiving.
  11. To add to all of that, I apologize.
  12. Exactly, so why didn't you post this response in the first place? If we want to change the community we can't keep reacting in overdramatized, buzzword ridden insults that we think aren't going to come back to bite us in the ass just because we didn't mention "specific" people. It's disingenuous to go posting this genuinely well thought out, constructive and honest post when the first post in this thread is a giant "fuck you" to about half the server. I agree with you, these over-reactions need to stop but we have to start somewhere and that somewhere is ourselves, pity parties like this thread do nothing they're precisely that brand of over-reaction you yourself call out, so it's better to not entertain them. You made some good decisions, you made some bad decisions, you made some pointless decisions but you're more of a contributor than I'll ever be and when I fuck off from this server and die of ligma the changes you put in will still be here while I'll rot away in annals of history. Let's start posting what you posted now at the start of threads instead of their end, let's start preventing things instead of regretting things because there are just some things that we can't change but what a person can always change is themselves, with time and effort. I acknowledge what you said and I do have a long way to go as a person in my responses and behaviour, but the simple fact is I responded to a very long disrespectful comment via a very short disrespectful comment. So now I'm responding to this respectful post with a respectful post. As I said at the start, this shift wasn't the issue of a single event, it was the entire playerbase moving the server. In the same sense, you're not responsible for everything bad with the server, neither am I, nobody here is, we're all responsible for the bad and for the good. “Do to others as you would have them do to you.” - Luke 6:31
  13. We DID do this already, it, funnily enough, had the opposite effect. Detectives started acting like security officers since they had rubbers meaning they had less-than-lethal which equaled in them firing twice as often and using it as basically a taser. Not gonna upvote or downvote this, but I doubt it'll get accepted.
  14. I think the posts in this thread explained everything about yourself and your characters better than I ever could.
  15. I didn't perform a gotcha, I implied you're one of those characters.
  16. History is a myth, the fall of Rome wasn't caused by a single event it was caused over centuries. Sure it was a big event that caused massive waves but that event was built up to, similarly how Mixed Secret caused big waves but it was led to by players complaining about stale rounds, inactive antags and extended being too boring. The best part? Right now if I check the ckey of everyone on the server I am 100% confident at least 15 out of those 25 people played when people in this thread played too, the difference was they were complete randoms who were trying their heart out to fit these made up criteria and jump through these artificial hoops the previous generations setup for them. Pity-partying in threads about this is pointless, it's a collective result of everyone's influence be it direct or indirect. Times like these remind me of my favorite poem: Inaction is as influential as action, those who leave cannot be blamed for leaving but they can't be surprised if they don't come back on the same server. Similarly there is a lot of suggestions in the forum that nobody has commented on, a lot of answers in discord nobody talked about, plenty of ahelps that were never sent and an infinite amount of IR's that "I didn't want to bother with." tl;dr this whole thread
  17. There is no culture switch, that's a myth, server culture moves at a very slow pace but you took a break long enough from the game to not notice or influence it. People can always stop or influence a slow gradual culture shift. Also, not everyone is guilty of the above, plenty of people didn't complain about those things but they were a minority back then and nobody really listened to them. As Burger said some occupations aren't as suited for certain things, that's how the game works and always worked. Security is going to get more antag fuckery while a miner is going to have longer-quieter interactions with other miners. Such is the nature of those roles. Also, consider the following:
  18. The shift is fault of the older generation. Every single issue people have named can be traced to the oldguard complaints. Take a drink each time you heard the following pre-2017: "People aren't doing their job and instead ERPing in a closet somewhere." = People started doing their jobs instead of constantly taking RP breaks. "Mechanics are roleplay." = RP jobs such as chaplain, chef, bartender and psychologist got a mechanical rework. "Miners don't give me materials and just sit in a bar all day." = Science and Miners now live in equilibrium, balanced, as all things should be. "Security patrols too much." = Security now sits in their lobby, trains in the holodeck or shoots at dummies waiting until an antag happens. "Apprentices are way over-skilled for their level of training, they should be less skilled." = People rarely remain as an apprentice for longer than a week. "X job has nothing to do." = See point 2 "X character with Y disability shouldn't be on the station, that's not realistic." = We set up guidelines for them, vast forum, server, and overall staff majority agreed on this. "Extended is boring and gameplay is stale we need more gamemodes." = We added mixed "The station is too small I can barely fit with the players." = Main level is about the size of Old Exodus, the two other levels are barely used. "Ling is a bad gamemode for HRP." = Ling is still bad game mode for HRP nothing has changed please kills this cancer garn is stupid for defending it. About now you should recover from the alcoholic coma you just entered, the fact is people, developers and administrators have responded exactly to the issues ye olde players raised and everyone assimilated them passively, it wasn't a sudden snap and everyone changed. The simple fact is jobs got actual mechanics so people are now playing them, antags have gotten more subtle since people wanted that so now there is general less chaos, people hated how quickly others jumped on revolution gimmicks so now people double-take everything. The boomer generation is blaming the millennials for doing exactly the situation the boomers setup, it's poetic really.
  19. ?? BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP
  20. Alright, thank you for clearing that up good luck with the application.
  21. Fair, happens to everyone at least once. It doesn't take long to identify what you like to write about, which you did correct but this raises a slight bit of concern in me. Now I'm not a fan of transhumanistic writing myself so I won't critique it from the standpoint of the concept itself, the writing wasn't bad and I think the general history was pretty well done. On this next subject some people will disagree but recently I've hard concerns with people coming into the lore writers with a certain agenda/faction/thing in mind they really just want to insert, develop however to me it seemed like they weren't actually interested in working on the species but using the species to work on their, thing. If I were to assume I'd say you wrote into your strengths right now in this application but it still raises a concern, would you continue working with Unathi if a theoretical evil twin of Jackboot was to simply deny everything you proposed here and told you that it's not the direction he wants the Unathi to take? Basically, I'm asking how good of a writer are you at things that support the core of the species but not the core of the ideology you like? Note saying "Not very good" is not a negative answer for me, I have plenty of thing about Tajara lore I don't write about simply because I would misrepresent them, but I'd like to know your, let's say range, your writing range let's call it that.
